administration found several areas of concern, fox5 contributor and wamu transportation reporter martin decaro joining us to breakdown some of the issues. are these issues we new about before and haven't been addressed or all new altogether? >> reporter: these are ongoing issues, and every month when the federal transit administration put out its inspection reports, it shows that their inspectors pick up problems that metro was either unaware of or that metro often was working on, and eventually gets around to fixing. and what the extent of these reports demonstrates is that we have an old system, it is a large system, that is only really being prepared, repaired aggressively for the first time, and a lot of things may go unnoticed or get missed first time around. that's not to make any excuses for metro, because some of these could be potentially serious. we start with problems at the rhode island avenue metro station. you remember last september, pieces of concrete, and metal were falling off the aerial structure there. metro did some emergency repairs. well, the fta inspector cited me
