moving forward to focus on the jobs outside of this building, not within it. >> that was the response today to the surprising news that after just about 11 days on the job, anthony scaramucci has been ousted from his white house communications post. it is reported, the new white house chief of staff wanted scaramucci gone. >> and if you want to talk about being technical, he really hadn't officially began the job. he started the job yet. >> wasn't it august 15th his actual first day on the job? >> we saw him dot briefings, he spent a lot of time around the president, nonetheless, we saw the news come out thursday and friday, and then we see a change at the white house, here you go, political and fox5 contributor here to break it all down for us, hi, hadus. >> glad to see you tonight. so, you know, we're watching. >> this was it a billing surprise? >> it was a big surprise, i actually was the first it read it out in the news room when everybody started poking me, what? i said yes, scar such out. and because it was just ten days ago, that he was hired, and also, if you think that

trouble for that new yorker interview that he did, where he really blasted vulgar terms, a lot of his co-workers, you would think it would be a swifter reaction within the couple of days right afterward. but it leerily took the new chief of staff in order to make that change happen. >> and that's the thing. so a lot of people are saying they believe it was john kelly that was the hand hine it. so what do you think this speaks to you in terms of his influence moving forward? do you think we will see white house that is going to operate in a much more military-type way, a very, you know, kind of going down the line? >> maybe. i mean, every time we talked about changes to the white house, or things normalizing, they haven't. however, the fact that we're talking in sort of surprise terms, that normal relations have been undergoing in the white house, whereas everybody reports the chief of staff, which is actually how it is supposed to go, not supposed to be direct various direct lines to the president, the fact that somebody who had a really disturbing interview, with a reporter about their colleagues, was fired, those are all

action in any sort of normal white howls. so, perhaps, the fact that we're talking about this in regular terms, for what should be happening in the white house, may indicate that john kelly does actually have power to enact some change, ultimately, you know, it is the head of the house. it is donald trump, who determined whether that will actually stay true. >> well, as we went into the weekend, you know, we had the healthcare bill go down. and then we went into the weekends, then the president went on tweet storm, addressing just about everything out there. some things that he may have had a point on, other things where he's saying the senate should go to 51 votes, couldn't pass the healthcare, but it comes down to messaging. and, you know, scaramucci was the guy charged with getting everybody on the same message. so do you finds another media savvy person? do you find a government insider to oversee that mission going forward? >> really hard to be a communications direct or in the white house where your principal doesn't follow your directions on communications. the communications department can say all

the scenes. this is something we often save for the final five. but i just thought so goody want to share with our viewers earlier today. this is a photo from upper press, you can only get up there if you have a hard pass, in the white house, that gives you more access as part of the press, this is right outside of sarah huckabee sands err's office. and we're all just waiting, trying to get something, at this point the white house had not confirmed a scaramucci departure, so linsey waters comes out, deputy press secretary, she reads us the statement, just basically, you know, saying that scaramucci wanted to give general kelly this clean slate. and then seconds later, it is released to the public, so then, of corpse, we just head downstairs, make our way to what the world can see, which is that press briefing with press secretary sarah huckabee sanders. and in really classic sanders style, she is sort of defining her legacy already. she was very close to the vest with details leading up to the decision, take a listen. >> i'm not going to get into the

>> sharing the inside story of the partnership between steve ban on and president donald trump. >> written a book called definitely's bargain here with us tonight. how are you? >> good to be here. >> how fascinating was it to dive into this campaign and come out with this. >> it was great. avenue known the principals going back before they were famous, i have known ban on since 2011. so the idea for the book, somebody needed to tell the full inside story house these two wild figures came together, beat the entire political establishment, wound up in the white house, and tried to give some insight into what they're trying to do now. >> with a was the initial thing, that you think, or the unusual meeting even, do you know? >> the initial meeting, ban on met trump. i don't think a lot of people know this, all the wack back to 2010, republican

named dave bossy, because trump was thinking about running for president, only nobody believed them back then, all thought he was trying to goose his a ben franklin tans rating, brought bran on ban to his orbit. ban on had this nationalist anti-immigrant politics, appealed to trump. trump began testing it on the campaign trail, low and behold it turned out to be his ticket to the white house. >> a lot of talk about steve ban on, i shouldn't say during the campaign itself but after the election when he brought him into the white house. you have this guy who has a reputation for being what national, no beating around the bush there, but he built a very successful media empire, and you paint it as a doctor jeckle mr. hyde type of persona. how has that work for him? >> the way it works, ban on publisher every bright barton news, hard write conservative website, that drew in a lot of these forces, the right groups, became so prominent during the campaign, so on the one hand, real connection there, on the other hand, banon was the head of think tank down in florida that helped produce the clinton cash book,

hillary clinton. public persona just as she was launching her campaign. that will was something that the new york times and the washington post pick up the main street meme ya, so ban on was able to show kind of two faces, the right leaning one, and the central leaning one. helped to get trump get electedded. >> having known the relationship between these two men, and seeing along with the rest every us what's been transpiring, at the white house,. >> a lot. >> a lot. exactly. i think a lot of people are wouldn't egg; banongoing to continue to be, you know, next to the president in such a close advisor? do you think that relationship will sustain this? >> wake up tomorrow, decide, you're all out. i think it is telling that banon is a guy who has been the constant in his life from 2010 all the way up until tomorrow. ten days ago, banon didn't want anthony scaramucci to come into the administration, banon would steam roll. look who is stand willing now, not

steve banon. >> relatively long in political years having the connection with banon, think about priebus, really didn't want anything to do with him, then realize as the campaign went on i have to embrace this guy who is standing and who is gone now. >> exactly. and two of them had fought at the beginning of the administration, because banon was very serbs pushes of the republican establishment, struck alliance of convenience were probeus, but once clear that trump was done with him, priebus is out, banon stays. >> give me sense of the relationship, too. i know it is occelate dollars. relationship between steve banon and jared kushner? >> that's an interesting one. during the campaign, they were thick as thieves, they were complete al eyes, even total opposites, one looks like jay crew model, other looks like a guy who sleeps on a park bench. i'll leave it to the reader. but really both understood this brand of populism would work for donald trump. the problem is once they got to the white house, banon really wants to end ac those ideas, i think kushner thought wait, maybe

moderate the president's image just a bit. you know, and we, kushner, ivanka trump have their own brand to think about, worry about. maybe didn't like that hard right edge. they had a falling out, fighting like cats and dogs, pretty much every since. >> we know con kelly being the homelands security secretary. and him kind of really pushing for the mr. trump's agenda, whether it comes to immigration, and the travel ban, those types every things. something that it also goes in line with banon. do you think these are two men that will get along pretty well? >> i do so long as banon respects kelly's authority which i believe he does. we had heard yesterday that when kelly was coming in, that white house officials would report to kelly, there would be no more wandering into the president's office. banon i believe was fine with that, scaramucci had said, no i want my own line to trump. well, scaramucci is gone. banon still there. as you said, banon respects the fact this is a general who can enforce these hard-line immigration laws, that trump and banon care about, and people who are that effective are a rare thing in the trump administration so far.

1997, as the first full time domestic vie len attorney, after that i've had a chance to work in education, as an education liaison, to work also executive director of the revenue authority, and i believe over those years i've come to understand that we all want the same things for our families. safe communities, quality education, a growing commercial tax base, and these are issues i've had a chance to work on over the last 20 years, and we will have greater chance to impact as county executive. and so this is why i'm real excited about it, grown up in prince george's county, these issues have very personal to me and to my family. but i'm at a pointy have the experience, and i understand the people i'm representing. and i think i can do a wonderful job on a higher level. >> you mentioned education of course being a priority. i would be remiss in not asking, fox5 of course we broke the story about the allegations of grade figuring in bridges george's county. that of course is currently under investigation. and being looked into. how would you be able to instill some sort of confidence, or a good positive

step forward for prince george's county schools? >> you know, transparency and accountability are core values. and it means that we don't wait until something that concerns us happens. i think, if we have a policy of transparency, and accountability, that applies at all times, then i think that we earned the trust of parents, in other words, it is difficult to earn the trust of people when a disaster strikes. earning the trust, and really establishing accountability, transparency has to happen at all times it, means parent have to be privy to information. it means we can look at each individual school, and ask ourselves, do we have all of the information parent need to feel comfortable about what's happening in that school. and i don't think it is any different where this whole issue around the grades, it is information that paren need to understand what's happening.& >> we saw the announcement today, your parents driveway, you talked about the crime rate dropping. and you know checked the stat, it is dropping. so how do you stay on that trajectory? how do you keep it dropping? obviously any crime is too much crime. but how do you drop it? >> one of the things that wee

well not only react to crime, but work to prevent crime. so i've been working in anti-truancy, our office started anti-truancy program, also working on program called back on track. getting people education work force development training it, means that we have to be aggressive, where crime occurs, but you can't wait until then. we go, in other words, don't wait for solutions, we go to those, try to get there beforehand. i think we have to do that in every area. it means that we are not only doing the work required to do, but looking ahead a bit and saying what will it take, to make sure this never happens again. it also means collaboration. we have had a fantastic relationship with our police department, the sheriff, the county council, the county executive, democratic governor, this is how you get things done. this is how we've been able to get things done and the state's attorney office, what we will do in the county executive's office, work with anybody we need to make sure we succeed and get something done. >> the primary next june. you're not in this race alone by any means

>> no. >> anthony also running against you for the primary watch is it you think you bring that senator muse does not to this race. >> executive leadership is one area as i indicated. i had an opportunity to work at the revenue authority executive director, where we were therefore seven years. working in this position for seven years, really, strong, strong record of leadership, it means that we really have some result to show for it, i'm proud of the records that we've developed, but i've had the experience of manage ago budget. of being fiscally responsible, of making sure, again, it is not just talking about the issues, i think issues spotting issues is one thing, but really having strong record of having worked in each of these areas. showing working in safety, public safety, working with education, working in economic development. these are all of the areas that i have experience, and i'm very proud of it. >> we only have 30 seconds left. but you're looking to replace baker running for governor himself. when you look at what he's accomplished in office, are there things you say,

would like to do that, i would like to keep that going or maybe take it in a different direction? >> one of the thing i would like to see us work on in the county to make sure not only focusing on economic development but human development. it means we have to have increased focus on the issues such as work force development, it means that we have to work on healthcare. it means that we have to work as well on addictions, and mental health, and all of the things that impact people who were inside these buildings. so i think we've done wonderful job in terms of a tracking business. we have to also make sure that as we do that, we continue to focus on people. human beings. this will be a huge focus for us. >> all right. by the way, you pointed out today, twice a westbound garbage would come back? >> listen, i listen well. i have heard from the citizens. they've told me that they are really fed up with one day a week, and we hear that. >> by the way, we of course will send the invite to senator muse, he's been on at 5@6:30 before. >> all right, we will be right
