ni found out there were misconduct claims of d.c.'s a hospital. this is the new report we just got. it says that when brian hawkins was heading the v.a. medical center he sent sensitive information to his own personal e-mail as well as his wife's personal e-mail. that's a violation of v.a. policy. we don't know exactly what he was sending, just that it was personnel information and data that could be harmful if disclosed. now this comes just a few months after another alarm ing report out of the district's va hospital. it revealed dirty conditions at the facility and a hundred $50 million worth of equipment unaccounted for. that report also found the medical center ran out of some supplies needed for patient procedures and surgeries and had to borrow those supplies from a private hospital. after that came out in april hawkins was removed from his position as director, but he still hung onto his government paycheck. he he walls

administrative duty at that time . now he he has been fired. in a statement the v.a. says hawkins was terminated because he failed to provide effective leadership at the medical center . this action underscores v.a.'s commitment to holding all employees accountable if they fail to do their jobs or live up to the v.a.'s values. that statement goes onto address adds new director lawrence konl. it cites aggressive recruiting and hiring, supplemental quleeng, 100 percent inventory and 2700 pieces of new medical equipment it also says that the medical supply monitoring has been over hauled. the current acting director is also taking additional steps towards transparency. he's now hosting monthly open door sessions to speak with veterans, employees and community members. sarah. now to a very scary encounter at a chiep ease restaurant in montgomery county. it was all caught on camera,

say a man walked into the restaurant late with a gun in his hand and pepper sprayed the employees there all before tak ing off with cash. now they need your help in finding him. kristin lee ' is live. >>eporter: the armed robbery happened at h this location here at the golden china out of the 12,000 block of old colombia a pike where police say the man walked inside with pepper spray in one hand and a gun in the other, terrorizing the employees working and like you mentioned, it was all caught on camera. take a closer look at the video now, very scary. police say it happened at 11:00 at night on july 21. you could see there the man was wearing a baseball cap and he walked inside with a gun in his hand pointed at a female employee. then right there you see her trying to fight him off and push the gun away from his hand. police say at one point the suspect even pulled out pepper spray and

employee there near the counter he ended up taking the money from the register before he took off and we're told no one was seriously hurt in this case, but officers tell us this could have gone in a whole other direction especially because the employee ended up fighting her attacker. it's a pretty violent individual coming in. he came prepared. he came in with a plan. he knew exactly what he wantedded to do and he was willing to do whatever it took to pull off this robbery. the best thing to do is just comply with the suspect's demands. it's not worth getting hurt over. it's the not worth your life. in this case she made a personal choice to take the actions that she did. we would recommend for the individuals in the situation to just comply with the suspect 's disee commands. now, police say that the gun in this case was not real. it was an air soft gun. but again like he mentioned you do not want to take matters into your own hands , especially when dealing with a gun, whether or not it's real or fake because you

can we expect for the rest of h this week? let's check in with sue palka to find out. >> today was a perfect preview of what the rest of the week is going to be like because most of you didn't see any storms today they were really concentrated in a few areas, including the district, prince george's county and anne arrundel and they rain ed themselves out. i think we'll do that again tomorrow, so not everybody sees them, but if you see one, you're going to get a lot of rain. as you correctly said, nothing showing up now earlier today these are the areas that got the concentrated rainfall from slow moving storms creeping along south to north and they generally rain themselves out in the same area so these are the areas that got the heaviest rain and what i'm showing you here is how much radar estimate fell on this area keeping in mind that we've already had so much flooding last friday and saturday and tonight we picked up an additional inch and a half to inches of rain in a few spots. a couple of roads closedded here

anymore. this was what was left of emily. emily is what we call a post tropical season. they won't issue any more advisories on emily but we do still have a storm out here with winds of 35 miles an hour. it is going to stay out to seevment you won't hear too much about it but you may feel or notice emily if you're heading out to the outer beaches, down to the carolinas, because the serves will be high that is on its way out and should pick up motion in the next 24 hours. these are the high temperatures today, a range of mid 830s in the northern and western suburbs. reagan 91- degrees and our trend going forward with the average high being 88-degrees is to keep it near 90 or a little bit above it in the city. a nice trend as we head on into the weekend. saturday about 835 and we think sunday could be about 83-degrees . this isn't the worst heatwave and it's not going to last all week long. our temperature in

had a pretty healthy storm out in frederick in the 1:00 that produced a little bit of hail. dulles 75, manassas 73 and culpeper 72 glees. for tomorrow because we had storms around this amp that kind of seeds the atmosphere for a few in the morning. noontime probably still fairly clear at 86 but by 5:00 and i think it will be as early as two or 3:00 we'll start to see some pulse storms that weent move very much. it will be a warm day, a huh h midday that's for sure. upper 80s for northern and western suburbs as we head down to our south. here we go again. i wanted to start the futurecast at noon. we start to bubble the showers and storms up again. notice futurecast wants to put them almost in the same place. that's a little concerning. heads up if you work in d.c. prince george's county, maybe these afternoon storms will cause a little bit of flooding. keep

certainly watching it here at fox5. by seven, 10:00 they tend to wear themselves out. by four to seven they start to exit the area. over the weekend there's a frnt approaching. it actually starts to approach on friday. there will be a threat for severe weather to our north, but that front is going to bump into some warmer air. touch off some more thunderstorms into the friday night, saturday timeframe , but then cooler air is going to come in for the weekend. dryer air, less humid air and i think we can chase any of the left over storm activity by saturday morning. your fox5 seven day forecast, three more days near 90, but then look at this, only morning showers or storms saturday. again, this still needs to be determined, but sunday looking great, 83- degrees. cooler temperatures monday and tuesday. not bad for august, but again, this this is not the rain we want to see. since
