hasn't been terribly heavy. the heaviest of the rain will be moving in later this morning and during the afternoon hours. there's live look at your satellite/radar. you can see the rain for much of the area. we'll keep the clouds in the forecast throughout the day today. that will keep temperatures cool for this time of year. we don't get out of the mid to upper 70s this afternoon. and rain will be with us for much of the day today. you can see all that rain streaming in from the south and west. and here when i open it up for you you'll be able to see the rain off into west virginia and southwest virginia approaching notice the darker yellows and greens there. that's heavier rain that will be moving in here kind of late this after morning early this afternoon could we zoo a thunderstorm. we could and the potential is there for an inch perhaps up to inches of rain across the region we are already have saturated soils. we had a lot of rain here recently and it's not going to take much to start to cause urban flooding ponding on the roadways perhaps streams and creeks that we had problems with a week ago could start to have problems as well if we get locally heavy rains. just keep all that in mind as

quick look at the seven day. we'll revisit the forecast here but i just want to show you a one day special. back in the sunshine with temperatures in the 80s by tuesday and wednesday. so a rainy one today. flash flood watch in effect as of 9:00 o'clock this morning. so that will be in effect throughout the day today. guys. okay. i'll toss it back to you. >> all right. thank you tucker let's keep talking about the weather right now. heavy rain heading our way moved through parts of the midwest and left some major damage behind over the weekend in oklahoma as many as 30 people were hurt when tornado touched down in tulsa. the storm was moving so fast and changed directions warning sirens didn't even go off. catching some people by sur surprise. now, further south parts of new orleans are still drying out after torrential downpours dumped 10-inches of rain in some spots the big easy not out of the woods just yet. weather forecasts show rain in the region for the rest of the week. we have some breaking news right now within the last hour, metro transit police say they made one arrest overnight in the shooting of a teenager on

the red line train. >> the shooting happened yesterday just as the train was pulling into the tacoma station the arrest happening just recently. melanie alnwick live from the tacoma station with the latest for us this morning. mel? >> good morning. all we know at this point from metro transit police is that arrest was made in prince george's county. we can hope perhaps with one of these men in custody the other two will soon follow. but we don't have any information on that at this point. we can tell you that the teen victim that teenager who was shot is listed in stable condition and certainly this arrest relief to many many here at the takoma park station as metro transit police were calling them armed and dangerous overnight. medics and police rushed toward the tacoma station in northwest d.c. sunday afternoon. the shooting happened on board up to the station around 3:00ed- p.m. the teen was shot in the stomach. metro transit police called medics as soon as the train arrived at the platform.

board a train in 18 months. it's still exceptionally rare but upsetting to riders nonetheless. >> there was a concern when i first heard it and it's just something that you just don't -- you know, expect not around here or at that magnitude. it was never any sort of shootings or you heard something like that. so yeah it is a concern. >> reporter: and so here once again are those pictures of the suspects metro transit police put out overnight. apparently good eyewitness reports from the train helped them decide when of these pictures from the station they could isolate and put out to the public as possible suspects. apparently the three got on board train going in the opposite direction. and were last seen skiting the stop at silver spring at this point police have not said whether the victims and the suspect new each other. so again we're still hoping perhaps we'll get some more information and metro

information later today. one thing that is helping investigators is that this shooting happened aboard a 7,000 series train which is said to have new high definition cameras on board. and so really able to give police and investigators a very good picture of exactly what happened and who was involved. live in takoma park, melanie alnwick fox5 local news. >> metro doing a good job witness cameras. when things do happen they seem to get the images out there úpretty quickly. >> developing story from overnight. district police searching behind the wasn't gunman in triple shooting in southwest d.c. two men an woman were shot 2:25am in the 3700 block of first street. all three taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. no word on what led to that shooting. anybody with information though asked to call d.c. police. jal. >> the other big story this morning the u.s. on high alert after north korea lashes out against the new un sanctions in response to its nuclear missile testing. today north korea vowed a thousandfold

u.s. for those sanctions. this comes as secretary of state rex tillerson spoke at a summit in the phil poops with a strong message to north korea. stop millages immediately that's the only way to know that north korea would be serious about holding talks on nuclear future. >> this is not give me 30 days and we're ready to talk it's not quite that simple. it's about how do we see their attitude. >> both china and russia voted to support new sanctions against north korea that were approved at the united nations this weekend. the new restrictions ban the north from exporting coal, iron lead and seafood. they prohibit countries from increasing the number of forth koreans working abroad. the total cost of those sanctions to y. ng more than $1 billion. back to you guys. all right. >> yeah. >> thank you allison. 9:08 is the time. whiching the morning briefs now. first up president trump working from home. today mark the

filled with that kind of speculation offensive and kellyanne conway tried to tamp it down. >> zero concern. that is complete fiction. that is complete fabrication. >> but the report says it's not just pence that other ambitious republicans are getting their ducks in a row in case prem president trump for every reason doesn't seek re-election for a second term. and a lot of this may have to do with the on-going probes into possible ties between the trump campaign and russia. on the other hand, with presidential campaigns getting longer and longer, some see this as simply a run up for 2024. >> i think it would be political suicide for the vice-president to actual be looking at 2020 that's why i don't buy this. i think this is really a look towards 2024 for a lot of them. >> of course, the president himself is already working behind the scenes to prepare for his own re-election effort. and democrats are going through their own early jostling t

george's county with the very latest. bob, good morning to you. >> reporter: wisdom good morning we're not trying to distract anybody. this ford suv is trying to get people to slow down. you see the camera here. this thing has been flashing away this morning it has stopped raining for the time being. speeds are up. after three-week warning period, now if you pass this suv with the speed camera there it goes, we're right nearly a len town road f you're going at least 12 miles over the posted 55 miles an hour speed limit here, you will get a $40 ticket starting today. we've seen quite a few of them go off. now the three-week warning period when they were just sending out warnings to drivers who were caught is over. there are still warning signs out here leading up to this point where we are here nearly a len town road on the outer loop. and the issue is this. there's construction zone here because they are replacing the suitland road bridge a

three years. and so this mobile speed camera is going to be sometimes on the outer loop. sometimes on the inner loop and in different places. basically to slow people down and what folks at maryland state highway have found is in the past six or seven years since they've used these mobile speed cameras they've cut the number of deaths in construction zones not just construction workers but drivers and passengers they've cut those debts in about half. there were six last year. six in 2015. but almost a dozen in the years leading up to that. so it's all about safety and, you know, they're saying if people realize eventually that there are these mobile cameras out here people will slow down. is it a good thing? is it a bad thing? we posted this story on our facebook page. there it goes. i don't know if the camera is picking this up but it is flashing this morning here as people are going well over the speed limit, and we put it on our facebook page asking what you think, and

to fine three marines off the coast of as strahle y they were on board an osprey when it went down near u.s. war ship on saturday. 23 other service members on board the aircraft at the time. they were safely rescued. the marine corps has notified the families of the three missing marines. investigators say recovery efforts could take months. and there's still trying to figure out what caused the cr crash. alarming new report released today about suicide in our troops. it says pentagon health care providers failed to perform follow-up care for troops with depression and ptsd. the rand core says only 30% of soldiers with depression received appropriate care and about 54% of those with ptsd got the care they needed. the city of chicago is set today to file a lawsuit against the justice department. over the department's plan to with hold grant money from sanctuary cities. chicago's mayor says the city won't quote be black mailed into changing our values and we are and will romaine a welcoming city. leaders say new q

going to have some issues with flash flooding. plash flood watch in effect at 9:00 o'clock this morning through tonight. and that rain will come down heavy at times. all right. 71 now in washington. cool out there with the cloud cover. daytime highs only expected to be in the mid to upper 70s. as we're looking at rain that's moving in. it will get heavy here for a time later this morning. look at the darker green and yellows off to the south and west all of that rolling into our region witness potential for some thunderstorms. that's what -- our friends at the national weather service have been talking about. you can notice right here. notice that darker yell lone red to the south and west of dc look out thunderstorm activity with that and don't forget the soil saturated from the last couple of weeks of rain. another inch or two on top of that we'll have flooding issues later this afternoon. future cast notice the darker yellows and oranges and reds there. moving through late morning early afternoon that will be prime time for the heaviest rain then it will kick off to the east here but that will be late this afternoon and tonight

set to take the stand in a civil lawsuit trial. kevin is back with us on why taylor swift is headed to the courtroom. >> yeah, that's right allison. this story going crazy taylor swift isn't after money in this sex assault suit. she only wants a dollar. in fact, she says if she wins she'll donate any money to quote charitable organize dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard. she says she's trying to protect herself and anyone fels being groped with fans. in this case, the shake it off singer may have photographic evidence on her side. take look. >> 2013 photo at the center of a lawsuit involving taylor swift. the man in the picture is david mueller a now former denver dj swift claims he was groping her in this back stage photo. his hand is below her waist but it's not clear if he actually is touching her. she and her team toll the radio station who fired mueller he filed suit arguing he was

mueller also says swift should have have gone to the police if she felt wronged instead of his bosses. the pop star is now count suing for sexual assault and mueller is seeking $3 million in dam damages. swift is only looking to get one dollar while holding him responsible as an example of her harassment. >> if the jury believes that she is right, that he groped her, and they simply have to believe that more likely than not, then she's going to prevail and it's possible the jury will say, neither of them proved their case and we're not awarding damages to either side. >> taylor swift herself is expected to take the stand a potential game changer. >> her lawyers have said that and that she would get on the witness stand and graphically describe the sexual touching, the unwanted uncouldn't zenned to sexual touching. and so that is going to be dramatic, interesting testimony

it's really at the core of it it's about these three generations of women that live& in this house. danielle and patti's mother played by bridget everett and her mother played by kathy moriarty and it's really about how these three women kind of interact and go through the small town struggles together. >> right. >> it's about friendship and this gang of misfits. hiphop is a part of it but it's -- i don't know. it's kind of a side -- it's the back drop. but it real is about these relationships. >> i thought he was insane at first. i can't rap. i want an actor that can learn how to rap it's at its center about this character and her world and growing up. kind of becoming of age. >> you there's a rap act. you're dancing and rapping. what did it take to get to that for you? were you seriously like in the studio putting down some tracks or what happened. >> i was just in my closet like practicing songs over and over and over again. i practiced

i tell you when you, n position like mine, i've work with these great directors. you can't think about that too much when you start directing or you'll just be frozen in fear. i mean those guys are geniuses. i don't know how they do what they do. i don't know how joel and ethan company want make decisions on what tout in and what to leave out. but it's genius. it's just genius. i fall back on telling the story simply and clearly as i can. i fall back on, um, trying to stay ahead of the audience to keeping the plot moving. i try to keep a level of real had the so that we can get sort of crazy with the comedy. mostly what's required of a director is keep it moving. >> yeah. >> get us home in 12 hours, you know. get the shots and let us go h home. >> now i know you garage graduated high school actually i believe in comer land, maryland. not too far from where we
