tell us her service at umc. she said it was not good. it happened just over a week ago, she said she left that hospital, and then she went in to labor and she said the services so bad at umc that she talked with the ambulance driver, when she called ems. they decided to come here to washington hospital center, which is 8 miles away from her home. she lives very close to umc. she agrees, with the suspension of license. >> for so many dc resident, living east of the ann costa river, united medical center their closest hospital. but, for the next three months, those with obstetric care emergencies are being diverted to other hospitals, miles away. >> she is nine days old. >> she doing okay? >> yes, she perfect. >> emily praylow, who doesn't want her face shown on tv, holding her nine day old baby kayla. emily said she had a terrible pe

yesterday we talked to several people leaving umc, and they praised the doctors and the healthcare that they got inside that hospital. they said only good things, one more thing, we should point out today, council member vincent gray, former mayor of dc, also, now the chairman of the health committee, he announced today that he is going to hold a special hearing into all of this. he says that he's not getting the answers that he needs from the department of health and the administration, so he's going to hold this hearing in september. for now, liver in the district, matt acland, fox5 local news. >> in your health watch tonight beware of popular hair straighten treatment at salons. lawsuit says chemical used to straighten hair could cause cancer and much more. we are talking about the chemical formaldehyde. and a new lawsuit is demanding the food and drug administration ban it at salons across the country. tisha

northwest on the story shall tisha? >> well, sarah, here inside the organic salon in northwest, it is one of few organic formaldehyde-free zones in the area, but we could see a lot more popping up, depending on what happens with this lawsuit. it was filed by two major groups, that represent several salon workers across the country, and they're suing the food and drug administration demanding that they ban formaldehyde. >> salons could soon be forced to go green at the environmental working group, and women's voices for the earth have their way. the organization's filed this lawsuit demanding the food and drug administration implement a formaldehyde ban nationwide. >> some of the health dangers are difficulty breathing, asthma, some women have suffered hair lost, rashes on the head and neck, bleeding gums, loss of smell. there is

administration. we did hear from a fda rep. they say they do not comment on pending litigation, but what they do comment on, are petitions, that's how all of this started a few years ago, with several petitions. now, the f d.a. says that it does sends -- did sends warning letters, back in 201, also 2015, concerning formaldehyde. they feel right now that's sufficient. if you look behind me, what's interesting here is that all of these products are said to be organic. and, again, the owner here is not too concerned about competition popping up, but we could, again, see more organic or formaldehyde-free salons in the area if this lawsuit comes to fruition. tisha lewis, fox5 local news. coming up: a new lawsuit claims a metro policy -- >> the transit system refuse to display, now has the aclu suing. >> and a store clerk jumps into action, when two armed men try to rob

>> tonight the american civil liberty union suing. >> the lawsuit claims the policy suppress free speech. martin, live now in northwest dc with more on this story. martin. >> hello. what do the people f for the ethical treatment of animals and my low have in common? they're suing metro with helping the american civil liberties union. this lawsuit filed today also naming as one of the plaintiffs women's health collective, carafemme had an abortion ad rejected as well as the lcu, had ads about the first amendment rejected by metro. all of this goes back to 2015 decision metro made to banish ooh ads, we'll get to that in a

first we hear from the aclu legal director why they filed this lawsuit today. >> they thought they were controversial. or they might make people think about issues. and we think that's a wrong reason for rejecting advertisements by a government agency, which is covered by the first amount: first amendment protect freedom of speech. and metro is sensoring the speech of these organizations by refusing to post their advertisements. >> metro usually does not comment on litigation. but did issue a statement today saying in short it intends to vigorously defends its commercial advertising guidelines, which are reasonable, and viewpoint neutral. that's metro's statement. also mentions that it turned its forum, its public space, into what it calls a non-public forum. this is attack particular that other transit systems have used across the country with mixed result, once these cases get to court. we mention 2015. what happened then. well the metro board at that point was trying to prevent ads from the

activist, pamela geller, from getting on buses and inside rail stations. you'll remember the cartoon of the profit muhammad ads, which many muslims finds deeply offensive. i spoke to mort downey today, the chair of the metro board at the time, he explained why he pushed for the ban at the time. he said he was afraid about the reaction to those ads on buses, but he wanted this ban to be temporary, looked at for six months to a year, and then be revisited for more nuance policy that metro has since never adopted, mort downey no longer the chair of the board. >> martin, you mentioned some other transit systems. do they actually ban these types of ads? >> yes. they also use the non-public forum explanation, new york city, philadelphia, seattle, new york's ban was also in response to pamela geller's anti-muslim ads from a couple of years ago. so, now metro's facing different opposition. aclu, my low -- book ad was taken down, cara-femme, as well as people for the ethical treatment of

west at 12 miles an hour, it will likely have a lot of rain with four to 8 inches, then very quickly, after it comes ashore, it will start weakening to depression. but of course it is so mountain us here as you get over to the western coast of mexico, landslides will be a real problem. that's not the only thing that is heating up getting closer to prime time here. in the tropics, area of disturbance, national hurricane center keeping an eye on this one, too, because it is in a area where it won't develop now, but in a few days it may find more favorable conditions. so, they're also watching this, some of the model guidance you can see has it kind of making a bit after close call on east coast, sometime next week. so we will see what happens with that. maybe it will get blown apart. but definitely time to start watching the tropics with a close eye, meantime, the weather here is spectacular, winchester only 77 degrees, we've been as warm as 84 today, as low as six an in t
