communist country responded much the news at ten starts right now . we're going to begin tonight with breaking news in prince george's county, sky fox is over the scene right now of a serious accident, a a serious motorcycle accident. this is the 6100 block of martin luther king jr. highway. your can see a number of emergency vehicles on the scene. we're told one person has been taken to the hospital. we're also told that person is in critical condition marina maracco is live on the the scene with the latest. what can you tell us. >>reporter: we want to show you the scene here because it is an extremely active scene. this is martin luther king highway, one of the main drags that cuts through see pleasant. we're right at the intersection of glenn willow drive and you see a motorcycle there, glass on the ground. prince george's county police on the scene as well as a chopper above. now i'll tell you southbound into the district traffic is flowing right now b

well as prince george's county fire department the person on that motorcycle, a police officer, we understand at this point to be a police official was transported as a priority one category a. that is critical condition. we've not heard word as to an updated condition, but that is the last information that we received into the news room as fares a the condition of the officer. what led up to the crash is still in question. of course being investigated. we are in an area that is not -- doesn't have a lot of foot traffic here, but there is a heavy flow of car traffic and you can see traffic here again flowing back in the direction of the district. there's a mcdonald's across the way. we're trying to get a better sense of how this all pan ned place. we are confirming a police official involved in this rec. unclear at this point what the latest condition is, but we understand that person was transported in critical condition to an area hospital. we don't know who the lead

jurisdictions that are present on the scene right now, includ ing prince george's county police as well as seat pleasant police. as soon as we get word on who is handing the investigation and who is the victim of this rec of course we're we'll pass along the information. let's be clear here, you said that was a seat pleasant police officer that we believe was on that motorcycle? >>reporter: we are hearing that it is a seat pleasant police official, so would someone of top rang, but unclear who exactly is that. we're still working to get firmings from the lead on the scene. >> meanwhile we're also following breaking news out of mount, police are investigating the body of bethesda, the body was found along heather hill court. there's no word on the identity of the p person or how they may have died.

he he was shot and is expectd on recover. they were in a car along with a third person who was not hit, but they were all driving through an intersection it appears this is an awful case of at the wrong place at the wrong time. think were hit by bullets flying on the street, meant for someone else. now they were in raised tonight white sedan and it was toed away just before 8 p.m. it had a shattered window and the 17 year old who was driving it slammed it into a parked suv before imeeg shot. the shooting happened around three:30 p.m. in the middle of the day at sewer goat a avenues. intended target escaped unarmed. otherwise only vague description of the suspect s. there were multiple units with the d.c. forensic scene called to the scene along with a k9 unit and concerned neighbors looked on as they combed for evidence. with gunfire happening in the middle of the day this is terrifying for residts

out here and one woman says there is frequent gunfire in the neighborhood a and she feels that police and private security at their housing complex aren't doing enough to stop it. i heard gunshots driving past my window and i had to go inside the kitchen and get on the floor . this is not the first time this happened. fifteen minutes prior to the shooting i was informed they were shooting up the street. no one came, no police officers came on the scene, no security gawrdz came around. it was earlier a call for service and man with a gun in sounds of gunshots. they canvassed the area and talked to witnesses. we did not locate anyone. if there is a citizens says officers is not getting out of their cars, have them call the police department and talk to the supervisor. you should get a good look the at officer's vehicle and note the id number if there is something you want to report. again, this is a high crime area. just about an hour ago right in that same

forecast. they return later in the day on friday. i think there will be quite a bit of cloud cover around in the morning, but some sunshine as well. let's talk about the timing for that. it's a frontal boundary that's going on be pushing the storms in our direction. you can see it in the chicago area right now. so that will be approaching during the day and as it gets closer the humidity goes up. it's going to get a little bit stick ier and there will be plenty of moisture for any storms to work with. are we looking at severe storms tomorrow, probably not because i think they'll come through late enough in the day that yes you can't rule out a strong one, but the biggest concern is the fact that they could have pretty heavy rain with them. these will be evening showers and storms. here's a look at your planner for friday. tomorrow morning should be dry. we had a little bit of a disturbance that brought a few sprinkles, but that's exiting the area. we should be 72 in the morning. by noon we're 80, cloudy, still dry but a little bit humid, so in other words, no rain, but getting uncomfo

tonight we're taking a look at several incredible moments caught on camera. the first one in the district, surveillance video caught a shootout in southeast. this is just stun ning, watch thisment take a look, two men firing multiple shots, a woman holding a baby almost got caught in the cross fire. this happened last week in the 3600 block of 22 street. one man was shot. he went to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. d.c. police are looking for the gunman. i don't know what's wrong with these folks. caught on camera, howard county police are searching for a woman who got into a fight at colombia mall. this happened last weekend at the island carousel. it all started after the woman on the left allegedly reached into the register and stole some cash. when the carousel employee confronted her the suspect grabbed her and threw her to the hand. she also bit the employee's hand. if you recognize the woman call police talk about a close call, surveillance video from a park ing garage in

the people in the suv had no idea what was about to happen. wait for it. it moved just in the nick of time before a car fell seven stories landed upside down, several people rushed over to see if the driver was okay. fortunately we're told everybody of turned out to be okay. it turns out this garage has a track record of accidents. last fall a similar incident happened on a different floor. when you look at that, you can see a man come in here from the right, they came in and they tried to help the woman who was in the car. thank goodness she's okay remember the saying having fun isn't hard when you have a library card? the arlington public library is open right now for a late night recess. what? what does that mean in we'll talk about it when we come back.

showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for us tomorrow late afternoon and evening. i think the bulk of them hold off until maybe 8:00 or so for much of the beltway area. saturday is also a little bit unsettled. i don't think it's a washout and i don't think friday is a wash out, but the storms that we do see tomorrow night into the first part of saturday could have really heavy rain with them and because this area is so saturated that part of the system will be watched closely for flash flooding. we are look ing at a better trend for sunday. if your weekend plans include some outdoor activities on sunday, the forecast is trend ing in your direction. it looks like the frontal boundary that brings the rain in this direction is going to sing to our south and we should have a pretty nice day after all on sunday. a split decision on sun , but all things considered not too bad out there. coming up in just a few minutes i'll show you the hour by hour showers and storms. and of course the seven day forecast. >> jim. president trump says he will declare t

national emergency. he made those remarks to reporters from his golf club in bedminster, new jersey. the comments come two days after tom price said he would not be making such a declaration. making it a natural emergency would free up more funding through the nart disaster fund and medicaid. it is an emergency, it is a national emergency. we're going to spend a lieutenant of time, a lot of effort and a the lot of money on the opioid crisis. the president says his administration is quote, drawing up the paperwork to make the designation now official. >> now to a story you saw first here on fox5 much families from around the world who have children with a rare jean mutations came to d.c. this past weekend to participate in a study that could lead to a medical breakthrough. the mutation has only recently been discovered and it is now linked to autism, alzheimer's and even cancer.

>> dy police need your help identifying a man aqueuesed of robbing a store in northeast d.c. this happened last month in the 4800 block of manny hill and bureaus avenue. surveillance video showing the man walking up to the counter to pay for something and when that clerk opened the register he grabbed the cash drawer and took objection to the form if you recognize him, police want to hear from you, a male man

look up and check out the solar eclipse. local officials in the path of the rare eclipse are getting ready for a boom in tourism. fox's. >>reporter: the upcoming solar eclipse has amateur atrom mers buzzing with excitement to make sure everybody is ready and save on the big day. on the actual date of the eclipse we're going to open up the charleston county operations center. this is more or less where public safety offerings will gather so they can share information related to events that are associated with the eclipse. thousands are expected to flock to areas along the center line where the oat al eclipse is viewable. law enforcement here in south carolina are warning ever increased traffic due to the in flux of visitors spectd for the event. we kind of anticipate a lot so we're going to ask everyone who comes here for the event don't stop in

cruz ship and they were scientists and they wanted to see it so we crewed the heck out of there to get to a place where we could find the sun mpt it will be so sad p if it's cloudy but it's been really nice here. and clouds are starting to come in tonight. fortunately we don't have any kind of lunar eclipse or anything like that but we are going to see a change in the pattern tomorrow and that means that you likely will have to bring an umbrella around if you're heading out tomorrow tonight. heavy rain and we're a little worried about that because we've had so much heavy rain already in the last several weeks. be aware of that if you have plans that will have you out and about friday night. these temperatures so nice again today. we pulled off another beautiful day. but our run of beautiful daisies go tok interrupted as we bring in a bit more unsettled weather, especially friday night and saturday. neither day a washout . temperatures are comfortable tonight, too. but

noticed. humidity is starting to come up. all of the dewpoints are in the the 50s. that meant nice cool air. now the due point creeping into the mid 60s and that gets kind of noticeable. as we increase the humidity we have a little bit of a trigger coming. it is this frontal boundary that you can see collecting some showers and thunderstorms in the chicago area. that will be getting closer to us tomorrow afternoon and evening and that's why we have the chance of those showers and storms developing. so the first thing that happens is a warm front comes through. we'll have clouds with that. we could have a spotty shower or two during the day, maybe even a rumble of thunder, but the bulk of activity holds offer later when the frontal boundary gets closer and for many areas that could be after dark tomorrow. during the afternoon if we even get a little bit of sunshine through the clouds we should be able to get up to 84-degrees, but again it will be more clouds than sun. with the humidity that means that any storms that develop might be capable of dropping some pretty heavy

9 a.m. we're zip tripping to culpeper. there could be a couple of spotty showers as mentioned but certainly nothing that we could describe as disruptive to your friday morning. we get to about 6:00 in the evening and while we still have generally cloudy sk ies we begin to see a few thunderstorms developing like they usually do out to the west and you might see some heavy rain as they develop. by eight, 10:00 we start to see them approaching the western suburbs and you can see our futurecast is trying to depict some pretty heavy rain with these thunderstorms as they come on through. so while no widespread severe is expecting, could you get a severe thunderstorm but mostly our thread will be the heavy rain. that goes away in the overnight hours and saturday we're still fairly cloudy. in the noon hour we could still have a few showers around. we have a broken line of showers and storms that come lieu in the afternoon. it's not really a washout, maybe a few more around 8:00 and then i think we
