side. >> we have team coverage of the chaos in charlottesville, the news at 10 starts right now. we begin in charlottesville where today's clashes prompted virginia governor terry mccall off to declare a state of emergency. thanks for joining us i'm lauren demarco. >> i'm lindsey watts in tonight for matt this started at what is believed to be the largest white supremacist gathering in over a decade. then, a driver, plowed into a crowd of people, killing a woman. >> suspect has been identified as 20 year-old james alex fields, junior of ohio. getting a look at of him here. fields has been charged including suspicion of second degree murder. meanwhile tonight we have a look at the tragic incident we want to warn you that this may be disturbing to some viewers. >> woman is dead, 19 others hurt, after that car crash, a car, slamming into a group of counter protesters. the driver, you can see in the

car and then speeds off. he was later caught by police. virginia governor terry mcauliffe spoke at a news conference earlier this evening and sharply critical of the white nationallists protesters gathering in the commonwealth. >> you came here today, to hurt people and did you hurt people. my message is clear, we are stronger then you. you have made our commonwealth stronger. you will not succeed. there is in place for you here and there is no place for you in america. i have a message to all of the white supremacists and nazi whose came into charlottes ville today, our message is plane and simple: go home. you are not wanted in this great commonwealth. shame on you. you pretend thaw are patriots but you are anything but a

a jarring, juxtaposition from the chants, screams, violence clashes between hundreds of white nationallist and counter protesters in the streets, earlier in the afternoon. >> they were throwing bottles, soda cans with cement in them, they were throwing paint balls , they were fighting, breaking out, attacking one another. >> reporter: fights reaching a climax which video shows a cara peering to deliberately mow down a group of counter protesters, a three two-year old woman is dead and 19 others were injured. hundreds of officers responded to end the violence. virginia state police say a helicopter aiding in the response, crashed in the field about 7 miles away, killing a pilot, and a second trooper. >> so helicopter seemed to be, kind of spinning a little unnaturally there, and, called from my wife, and we both saw the helicopter, kind of, in a,

>> reporter: that suspect james alex fields is charged with second degree murder tonight, three counts of malicious wounding and hit and run. back to you guys. >> evan, i know sometimes in situations like this is there a curfew that initial to place has there been any talk of that tonight? >> reporter: right now there is not a curfew in place but the city did send out a message saying that the police chief does have the ability, has the full authority to instate one fit comes that but right now as i said, it is very quiet on these streets but, the police chief does have the ability to put a curfew into effect if he need to. >> thanks very much. glad to see it is quiet there tonight. all right. other big story we have been following tonight the weather. national weather service confirms a tornado hit near community of broadrock and fauquier county yesterday evening.

hour and knocked down trees, power lines and did cause minor damage but fortunately no one as hurt. this was first tornado to hit northern virginia, two twisters hit eastern shore of maryland over last several weeks. tonight story has been severe thunderstorms. take a look, d.c. fire fighters had to rescue two people after their cars got stuck in high water. this happened in the 600 block of rhode island not far from the rhode island metro station this evening. you can see the wreck there fire fighters using that to get those people, to safety. >> wow, that is incredible amount of water there in the street. here's a live look outside, right now. it has been a wet, dreary, messy day to day and tonight there are still some thunderstorms and watches in some areas of our region. >> let's get to gwenn for a check of the weather. >> hi, good news we have no warnings right now. we had a number of warnings, all evening long, it has been extremely busy in the weather department. press much like last nig

line of storms continue to move to the southe and until a lot of cloud to ground lightening embedded in all of this. thunderstorms are now moving their way through to the southeast at 28 miles an hour, to 25 to 28 miles an hour give or take with gusts of 40 to 50 s possible within these storms and i want to say tidal potomac from indian head to co b island, strong storms there as well. that could easier just tumble over a small crack, along the way. so these storms really, very dangerous still. so what we have right now are some of these storms heading to prince fredrick, chesapeake branch estates all in the line of fire in the next 20 minutes or so. still a thunderstorm watch in effect. now this has really been reduced in size, it was most of the entire area earlier, so that is at least some good news we don't have parts of the southern maryland still involved, calvert, sound marry 's, central

king george and stafford all encompassed in this watch. take a look at the damage tonight, down trees, power lines, even hail, and we have had a lot happening with all of this, and some flooding. we will have more details later and let you know when you can expect sun to return ment back to you. >> thanks, gwenn. new tonight, two women rushed to a local trauma center after being stabbed outside of the amc movie theater in courthouse. the arlington county fire department tweeted out this photo from the scene where we're told a woman stabbed the two female victims after some sort of a dispute. it happened just before 6:00 o'clock this evening. police arrested the suspect at the scene. two victims were seriously hurt but they are expect to survive. i just wanted to pay my respect, and we are with you a thousand percent. you are safe. we are with you a thousand percent. i wanted to call you and say hello. >> governor of guam fielding a

president reassuring governor eddie calvo that the citizens of guam are safe and they have nothing to worry about even though north korea has threatened to send missiles toward u.s. territory if the united states continuing to threaten north court rhea. china's president urged both side to cool the rhetoric >> he said tough talk by president trump could worsen the situation. fox's lauren blanchard reports >> reporter: in yesterday's call the chinese president asked both u.s. and north korea to tone down the rhetoric, before it worsens the situation. president trump agreed he wanted peace but said he will meet north korea with fire and fury if it acts honoraries event threats against the u.s. territory of guam. >> if he does anything with respect to guam, or anyplace else that is an american territory or an american alley , he will truly regret it and he will regret it fast. >>

also warning kim jong unon twitter saying military solutions are in full place, locked and loaded should north korea act unwisely. despite being the north's largest economic partner anal i, china has said it alone cannot force north korea to give up its nuclear ambitions. while the president has been critical of china for not taking a hard enough stance. china did vote in favor of the recent united nations security council sanctions something that both presidents called an important and necessary step. yesterday secretary of state rex tillerson saying diplomacy remains the primary goal. >> i think it is a combine message there if we get effect i have movement, the president has made it clear he prefers a >> reporter: but as china calls for peace north korean state tv says their army is quote capable of fighting any war that the u.s. wants and is on stand by to launch fire, into the

from the rear. the all-new audi q5 is here. more on our top story, three people are dead tonight after a white national list and counter protests turned violent in charlottesville virginia, a three two-year old woman was killed when a car plowed in the crowd of protesters. the driver of the car was arrested.

virginia state troopers, killed when their state police helicopter crashed near the city. just a short time ago police identified those troopers. fox's joe wallman joins us live from charlottesville with more on that chopper crash, joel? >> reporter: lindsey and lauren, good evening to you. we are learning more details about the chopper crash most noteably the names of the two state troopers. what a rough day it was in charlottesville and it continues to be, this evening, albeit a lot quieter tonight. the two people inside that chopper now identified as lieutenant hj cullen of the virginia state patrol and also trooper burt bates, the actual pilot. his birthday is tomorrow, obviously, neither he or his family will be able to celebrate. instead they will be mourning apparently what happened as it pertains to the chopper around 5:00 p.m., police, pretty much had a good hold on what was going on here

protesters and counter protesters who were on the street, and they were a suspect identified as 20 year-old james fields who crashed into that flock of people behind me. they sent up this chopper just to ensure that protesters and counter protesters were not going to tangle backup, and there were scuffles going all day long. something clearly went wrong with that chopper and sadly, those two troopers, became collateral damage today, as a result of the violence here in charlottesville, so truly a tragic day, we have that one, three two-year old woman killed on the street behind me , by that person, james fields, whom police say plowed into that group of people and now these two state troopers. lauren and lindsey. >> just an awfully tragic day there, the governor had been urging people to just go home, really trying to call an end to all of this and we saw in other cities in atlanta there was gathering, people gathering peacefully standing

new information now, on the rush and investigation. new york times is reporting special counsel robert mueller plans i don't view current and former trump administration officials, as part of his ongoing investigation. that is expected to include former white house chief of staff reince priebus. mueller is asking for record, including details of specific meetings with administration and campaign officials. some of what he is requesting is related to president trump 's firing of former fbi director james comey. president trump has ruffle feathers on capitol hill, he was critical of mitch mcconn they will week over republican leader's failure to deliver votes to repeal and replace obama care. we will get latest on than from lauren blanchard. >> reporter: even though congress is spread across the country for august recess, it didn't stop the president, and member of his own team the senate majority leader mitch mcconnell from expressing frustrio

your daily commute. you may wonder if your weather your weather? if your wallet is getting whacked by newly installed e-z pass system at the beltway. >> that is right lights are flashing as drivers crew by the e-z pass readers but hot lanes don't go live for a few months. so bob barnard is getting to the bottom of this reporting from along the interstate in arlington county. >> reporter: well, this is a test only a test, until december. they are experimenting with their new toll entries. nine of them between the beltway and roselyn, as you can see, some drivers are saying what the heck is going on. these things are flashing. basically a test of the system here, that will eventually, flash the light of this toll plaza, when cars have activated their e-z pass, indicating that they have two or more people in their car. the flashing light will let

should have two or more people inside and fit doesn't they could be persued and ticketed. the hot lanes, which will go into effect early december, between the beltway and roselyn will allow to you use the hob lanes for a fee if you are in your car alone. amount of the tolls will rise and fall depending on traffic at the time. hot lanes will go in effect from 5:30 to 9:30 in the morning eastbound and westbound from 3:00 to 7:00 in the afternoon. it will no longer be a free ride if you have a hybrid car. basically, this is part of an overall, expansion project as vdot, northern virginia transportation officials widen and add hot lanes to i66, all the way out to gainsville. it is to ease congestion, how for people in the cara loan to use these hob lanes when right now you're restrict inside during morning and afternoon commutes but

bring plenty of heavy rainfall , included to ground lightening as well, take a look, cloud to ground lightening as well in all of this we are still dealing with pretty strong storms out there so some of the neighborhood in the line of these right now take a look cambridge, salisbury, chesapeake branch all in the line of this. these storms have been moving anywhere from 15 to up to 25 miles an hour, to the south e, and that has been happening all evening long. they started off far to the northwest over allegheny, and right up near hagerstown they started to plow through and eventually as the day and evening wore on i should say they became more widespread. now, here's where we still have a severe thunderstorm watch, in effect until 11:00 for still parts of the southern maryland and into parts of the virginia. if you are in this area and you saw path of where those storms are coming from you are in the line of fire of all of this same story for areas along the bay. there is a marine warning for tidal potomac and chesapeake area
