events in america. thanks for being here. president trump was holding a press conference earlier today. it was supposed to be about infrastructure but he evidently inevitably began talking about charlottesville. i watched it much more closely than you people have it. and you had a group on one side that was bad and you you had a group on the other side that was also very violent and nobody wants to say that. but i'll say it right now. you had a group, you had a group on the other side that came charging in without a permit and they were very, very violent. >> that was president trump responding to a question. it seemed to me that he was placing blame on both sides there. what's your take first of all on what he said today and did he undo his scripted denuns craigs from yesterday? this is a president who has seated the moral authority of the presidency. we look to the president of the united states to bring us together. what he did on saturday was shameful. he tried to clean up yesterday. he walkedt

ed as an unfixable problem and it's why you see people inside and outside the white house feeling pressure to take sides whether that's folks coming out in favor of mcmaster, alleys coming to the defense of ban ofnlt perhaps this is bannon 's greatest challenge so far. let me ask you during the press conference on what was supposed to be a talk about infrastructure today one of of the reporters asked the president a question about steve ban oranges is he going to be fired? is he going to be let go . the president called him a good man, he isn't a racist but said we'll have to see about steve ban ofnlt we've heard that receipt rick before when he was asked about riens priebus leaving. could this be a sign that bannon is indeed on his way out? >> that underscores the serious of this situation. this might not just be idol gossip. bannon 's future in the white house could be in

it's worth noting that bannon has alleys that goes beyond bright bart, he does have the backing of some deep pocketed trump donors like the mercer family, like shelled on add ellison. that could help spare him from an exit. there are people even in congress like house freedom caucus chairman mark meadows who have demonstrated their willing miss to go to bat for bannon when his role appears to be in jeopardy. it's in the a simple question whether the president loses his favor with bannon. there's a lot of moving parts to his employment in the west wing as the president would say we'll see. thanks for joining us tonight. the president doubled down during a press conference. he's also taking heat for a tweet. we'll break it down after this.

probably for more people who saw the image captures of this than ever actually saw it from the president's account because it disappeared almost as soon as it went up. obviously the imagery here in the context of what had gone on in charlottesville over the weekend with this youngs woman losing her life because somebody ran her over with a vehicle is hard to escape. one of the other things jim and shawn what we see out of this, we might be witnessing some of the limits of chief of staff john kelly's ability to rain in the president's tweeting. the one thing we know about general kelly he was a no nonsense general and this might rain that the general isn't all that comfortable with, but short of taking a phone out of the president's hand and having some access before these tweets go out. for the life of me i don't know how you would stop h kind of thing other than seeing
