all right. let's go to baltimore now where the removal of all of the four city's confederate statues that's been the big news this morning. it happened overnight while most of us were sleeping. baltimore just one of several cities around the country removing statues in the wake of the violence in charlottesville. anjali hemphill is live in baltimore at the park where one of those statues came down. anjali? >> reporter: allison, now that the news is spreading throughout baltimore that these four confederate statues were taken down overnight without anybody really being in the know about it a lot more people are starting to show up here to see for themselves. we've talked to people on both sides of the city's decision and also heard several people from the roadway expressing their opinion. either shouting it out at us at they're driving by. you can see there are some gathered here to take a look and what you are looking at is what used to be a bronze statue of robert e lee and stone wall jackson on horseback, but they took their last ride

sunrise this morning if you will as they the statue was removed in the dark of night and hauled away on the back of a flatbed truck. you can see on the base here scrolled all over it with graffiti. there's also another statue that has been placed here it's been placed here actually several times in the past in define of this confederate statue. you can see appears to be woman with her arm in the air sort of a symbol of triumph in this situation. now, this just one of four confederate statues that the city plucked off their bases using a crane and then drove them away all overnight all while police officers were keeping watch. the city ordered the immediate removal of all of its confederate monuments just days after the unrest in charlottesville, and here's some reaction from people who came to see it this morning. >> thing got to change. i mean, people's attitudes. where are we

♪ time right now in 9:15. it turns out the couldn't federal general robert e lee predicted monuments might spark trouble. the statue of lee that sits in charlottesville park has been the focus of controversy for months. since city leaders voted to take it down and sell it. now that decision is on hold because of lawsuits in the case. so what did the statue's name sake think after the civil war. fox5's bob barnard life in alexandria this morning where robert e. lee was born with more on the intriguing story. good morning, bob. >> reporter: wisdom, good morning you. you wonder if robert e. lee was alive today alt right, alt left he'd hit alt delete. he was not a fan of o

statue after the civil war. this is one that was put up in 1889 here in the heart of old town alexandria at the south washington and prince streets here and it's basically honoring the confederate soldiers. the confederate soldiers from alexandria who died in the war, but here's what robert e. lee wrote after the war before he died in 1870. he only lived about five years after the war but what he wrote was this. "i think it wiser not to keep open the sores of war but to follow the examples of those nations who endeavor to obliterate the marks of civil strive and to commit to oblivion the feelings it inn gendered". now he would probably not be happy that the statue in charlottesville is of him. the one here in alexandria is a couldn't federal soldier but the statue in charlottesville of robert e. lee at the center of that controversy, the violent protest there is. he thought it would not help to reunite the

civil war that it would further divide the nation and so he was not in favor of those statues being erected not nearly one more sim elf as you reported earlier, those four confederate stastatues removed in baltimore over night one of them being of robert e. lee and stone wall jackson. the other confederate general that one erected in 1948. so those apparently are heading to the trash heap the city of baltimore said they'll destroy though those statues. there has been an evident here in alexandria to remove this statue to put it in a museum nearby. but nothing can happen apparently to the statue until the virginia general assembly gives its okay and that hasn't happened yet. there's also been talk of renaming jefferson davis highway in this area. so clearly interesting because this is the birthplace of robert e. lee his home just up the street here and he was not in favor of these statues the focal point of the unrest of recent days. guys?

need to make sure that do have a folium mount saying record here. if you have the same pediatrician that's pretty easy, but most of us move around. we may have have several provider us really need to make sure you've had all of your vaccination records from everywhere you've been if you've moved around that may take a little while to get a hold of. >> things are new. i for one need new chicken pox for my two teenagers heading back. so can you sort of briefly tell us what vaccination requirements. >> your childhood vaccinations you're in grammar school we all get the same vaccinations. those you don't need to worry about if you have your pediatrician appointment every year. it's when you get to middle school that things seem to change a little bit. so especially if, um, you're in maryland, let's say, in maryland, you need meningitis and t dap as vaccines to get into school. you need to get them before you get into the seventh grade. so meningitis is a bacterial infection that can cover the brain and the spinal cord.

pertussis or whooping cough those need to be given before you get into the seventh grade. if you're in virginia same vaccines need to be given before you go to the sixth grade. little bit earlier. >> okay. >> also in virginia you need to get your hpv vaccine prevention for cancer like cervical cancer. >> is that required? >> that is required in virginia. >> is that right? >> for both boys and girls. >> is that right? >> in the district of columbia it's the same thing for sixth grade, t dap and meningitis. but the hpv vaccine only recommended, marks today tower for girls. it is recommended for boys in the district of columbia. >> wow. okay f your child is an athlete, there are different needs that you need to meet before. can you talk about those. >> you shall be getting a sports physical. you need to get that sports physical before you start practice. so people should have had their sports physicals probably by now. even if you're not playing a school sport, let's say you're playing a local sport, like a league, um, maybe field hockey or socce

a sports physical and you'll need an immunization record to get your sports physical as w well. >> okay. basic hygiene. some things maybe you don't think about. body starts to change little bit. >> yeah. >> more things need attention. you're asking parents to remind their kids. >> especial physical you have small children just reminding them to wash their hands aft going to the bathroom. wash their hands before they're eating they really should be sudsing up and washing their hands for full 20 seconds so when my children were small i had them sing the happy birthday song a couple of times that's usually about 20 seconds. >> okay. >> thinking about not sharing their water bottles or they're drinks during lunch. or on the playground. and then for athletes as well not sharing their water bottles just to kind of keep things germ at bay. also, not sharing hats in the wintertime. >> yes. >> you worry about head lice. even shares towels among athletes you really want to keep your hats and towels to yourself. >> sort of related. let's end with a lot of times the teenagers start to have that acne or pre-teens. you have tips on that as
