of people talking about basically what's in a name. now this is the sportscaster that espn has reassign his name is robert lee. he is no longer calling the uva game against william and mary on september 2nd and that's because of the controversy surrosurrounding confederate ste of robert e lee in charlottesville. esp in afraid his name might offend some people and the decision was made for lee's safety. now network spokesman released this statement last night saying "we collectively made the decision with robert to switch games as the tragic events of charlottesville were unfolding simply because of coincidence of his name" in that moment it felt right to all parties. it's a shame that this is even a topic of conversation and we regret that who calls play by play for football game has become an issue. now the backlash to the decision has been overwhelming against espn. we've been showing some of the comments that you've been posting online at the bottom of your screen and as you can see, by some of the comments that

annie joins us from fairfax with the latest. >> reporter: good morning to all of you. that's right. fox5 was able to track down a family in maryland that says they are one of many that were targeted 40 years ago and following our one-on-one we just got off the phone with the attorney for the family saying that they will be holding a 1:0e today to talk more about their experience. meanwhile you can see behind me saint leo the great parking lot filling up. this is where father william aitcheson was serving since '93. they had a 9:00 a.m. daily mass taking place underway now. we are told no accusations of racism or bigotry were made against him throughout his time in the dye seiss of arlington it's important to mention he voluntarily stepped down from public ministry here. now, fox5 again has tracked down a family who says they were targeted 40 years ago by father aitcheson. they say they suffer his hateful acts including a cross burning on their front lawn. the couple says they're still owed self damages and hope this

closer to getting closures as well as healing, but they were very honest and admit even after all these years they're not sure if they can forgive him for what he did. now, the familiar dull not want to be identified, but, again, later this afternoon, we will learn more as they share their details publicly. men while, they are not the only ones who were terrorized 40 years ago. we obtained declassified fbi documents that you're looking at now from the late '70's that reveal father aitcheson burned crosses in front of several homes of african-american familiar unless prince george's county and also made threats to the widow of dr. martin luther king, jr., coretta scott king threatening to kill her if she spoke at an event at the university of maryland. one of those cryptic letters said africa or death by lynching take your pick. we spoke to a member of the prince george's county naacp about this who vividly remembers these threats. take a listen. >> i commend him for coming out publicly and acknowledging his

command. this comes after the military branch decided to dismiss advice admiral joseph a coin. the move follows two deadly collisions involving naval ships the most recent incident monday. uss john s. mccain collided with a tanker near singapore. ten sailors were reported missing. the navy hasn't said how many bodies they've recovered yet. navy officials say they do not blame him for the accidents but they have lost confidence in his ability to command. to the kansas city missouri area now where at least one person is dead following intense flooding. a man in his 50s died when his car hydroplaned into rushing water. more than a dozen others were left stranded in their cars. the national weather service says up to 9-inches of water fell in some areas. back here locally now, today in prince george's county the residents of the lynn hill condominium complex in temple hills, maryland have until noon to move out after fire officials deemed that building unsafe. this comes after investigator
