[ cheers and applause ] >> that is one awesome party. ally communities down 95. they've all represented. >> yeah. for sure. >> all throughout the whole zip trip season we'll have lot more coming up from fredericksburg in just a minute but first we do want to get to our big story this morning, that is hurricane harvey. right now the storm is a category two with wind speeds of 110 miles an hour but it is set to make landfall tonight or tomorrow and it might get up to category three. the outer bands packing heavy rain and heavy winds. they're already hitting the texas coast. in preparation state officials have declared a state of emergency and they're asking people living in the storm's path to evacuate. the one staying put though are stocking up on searches like food and water. bracing for the storms impact. wisdom has more on those preparations and the potential impact for us here at home.. this is somethingf

proportions. texas officials are expecting this to be the big one and they're telling people in the path of the hurricane hurricane harvey to get out before the storm hits because it's on track to become the biggest hurricane to hit the united states in more than ados decade. >> time is running out to get ready for hurricane harvey. >> i have been through four different -- been to four different stores. no water on the shelf. four stores. >> southeast texas bracing for what's expected to be category three storm. wind gusts likely to top 100 miles an hour. storm surging could reach more than 15 feet but it's the potential for 3 feet of rain that has forecasters really worried. officials say residents need to take vac weighing orders seriously. >> i'm not going to send a boat down there after we ask you to leave. we're not -- i'm not going to put one of my deputies live on the line to go down there and get you out. so you're on your own. >> harvey is labeled as a life threatening storm that poses a grave risk

worried about it until everyone at work was talking about it. >> landfall is expected by saturday on a large swath of coastline. even people who live nowhere near the coast in harm's way. dozens of counties a hundred mile inland are at risk for flooding millions of residents bracing and hoping for the best. >> i feel like we've had so many where it doesn't actually end up being as big as we think it's going to be so i'm kind of hoping it's going to be one of those. >> now the national hurricane center says that the storms could stall inland for days and that would mean heavy flooding. harvey could also meaning a spike in gasoline prices as well since a lot of oil rigs and refineries in, n that region are shutting down ahead of the storm. so it's going to have major impact on everything that's happening in that region and start to trickle out to the rest of the country especially when you start talking about gas prices. >> absolutely. >> yeah. >> thanks, wis. >> thank you very much. meanwhile, the white house is preparing for the potential political storm that could follow hurricane harvey. a major hurricane has often been seen as a

therefore have created a mess in congress. on top of that the president claimed he will let the government shut down to get the border wall paid for. this morning the president tweeted in senate republicans don't get rid of the filibuster rule gone to a 51% majority, few bills will be passed. eight dems control the senate. ♪ now to a story you first saw here on fox5. two connected fbi raids just miles apart in prince george's county. the fbi says 12 people stole thousands of credit card numbers and sold them online as part of a bank and wire fraud crime ring. the raids took place at a home in temple hills and a home in fort washington. fox5 got exclusive video at each scene including several dogs removed from one of the homes as well as equipment that experts tell us is used in dog fighting scenarios. the fbi would not confirm if dog fighting was connected to their investigation. also in the news

afternoon walk turned into armed robbery. d.c. couple an infant son held up at knife point by two men in broad daylight in normal safe area of the city. for the first time the couple describes the incident in detail in an exclusive interview with fox5. our very own annie yu is live in northwest this morning with what they're saying this morning about that attack. annie? >> reporter: good morning to all of you. this is certainly an unnerving situation leaving a lot of the folks that live and work around here feeling pretty unsettled about the news. they're most disturbed by the fact that, you know, the sus suspects attacked the couple and their young son during broad daylight on a saturday afternoon along this busy corridor 14th street and corcoran. there are lots of businesses lined up here, lots of restaurants and eateries and coffee shops. again this happening in broad daylight in the middle of the day and so police, you know, are calling this a bold and brazen crime. this surveillance video was provided to us by d.c. police.

two suspects there as well as a black sedan a dark sedan that detectives are asking that you take a close look at if you recognize this man or the vehicle you're you were to do call dc police. the family spoke exclusively to fox5 and we are not naming who they are but they tell us that they just finished brunch on saturday and they were heading back to their car when the two men approached them. take listen to the couple describing the frightening ordeal. >> i looked down and he pulled out a box cutter, and as he was doing that, another guy had come into the front to me with the stroller, and i saw a knife in his hand as well and they both just crowded us in. they said give me your purse. give me your purse. i said i don't have one. i just have my diaper bag. >> bottom line it was violent they threatened us. >> yeah. >> with deadly force. >> it was by far the most terrifying thing i've ever experienced because we are new parents and we h

>> i'm just saying. >> shh. >> now that that's out of the way. get to serious news. first at 10:00 this morning, hurricane harvey pick up speed and strengthens as it moves closer to the texas coast now classified as category two storm forecasters expect it to grow unfortunate toll category three it could make landfall as early as tonight. devastating rains could dump up to 35-inches in some areas. officials say residents need to take evacuation orders seriously. the national hurricane center says the storm could stall inland for days. for more on the storm's path and impact gary mcgrady joins us live with that. >> everything you said is true and more. that satellite picture i don't know if you noticed rye at the end looking at the satellite picture the red and it showed the eye co coming back into formation. a couple of things to note here. at least we know now it's still a category two hurricane. hurricane hunter is in and out of the hurricane, it'

already thish the overnight per, too. so as soon as they find anything that would be indicative of the major hurricane force winds, they'll let the hurricane center know and they'll upgrade this to category three. i'm hoping that that doesn't happen. everyone is hoping that that doesn't happen. but what i'm seeing red on the radar, in the last few frames, is concerning as well. outer bands already impacting texas. they've already had nearly tropical storm force winds up through ports of corpus christi you see this band right here that's a band of thunderstorms around the center much that is shrinking and contracting. that means that this hurricane is getting stronger. there's another band right there. this will probably come all the way around before it it's all said and done. the most up tense part of this hurricane east and northeast center the hurricane force winds right now are very close around the center, it's true it will continue to be moving slowly towards texas and the big concern here the storm surge, the wind and the flooding for several days throughou
