since the day it opened its doors. now, remember, the trump organization refurbished and redeveloped this hotel, but the trump organization does not only this building. the old post, it is leased to the trump organization from the federal government. taxpayers own this building and tonight, two government organizations are now looking into that lease. how it is being handled by the government and the trump organization. those two agencies, one of them is government accountability office is probing the general services administration out leasing program. now, that cleared the way for the trump lease contract. that is also being looked into by the inspector general of the general services administration itself. its own ig now launching this probe. flashback back to 2013, that's when then businessman donald trump signed a

the old post office building. it's just been sitting there empty. nothing going on inside of it. after a multi-million renovation, the trump organization cut the ribbon and opened the doors on a luxury high end hotel here on pennsylvania avenue. now, the lease prevents anyone in the government from benefitting from the terms of the lease. you might remember, president trump announced he was turning his businesses over to his adult sons. however, was going to retain opener. virginia congressman generally conley told fox 5 it will work with others in congress to make sure these probes go forward without any interference. >> we certainly can press the hearings, we've had -- we did have our own forum on conflicts of interest. this came up in december and we'll do more of that. as we get closer to the mid term

republican friends are going to suddenly have more interest in the conflict of interest subject. because this administration is replete with those conflicts and sadly the president has been singularly insensitive to that topic. >> reporter: what's raising eyebrows about all of this though is the timing of this. it was only back in march when the gao sent a letter, a 166 page letter to the trump organization in new york telling them they had reviewed the lease and in the geo's opinion, the trump organization was in compliance with what the government asked. live tonight, tom fitzgerald fox 5 local news. coming up, the aftermath of hurricane harvey. >> we're screaming and hollering at them. hollering. we really thought we lost them. >> a man found fighting for his life clinging to a tree as
