strong thunderstorms are possible late in the afternoon. the news at 10:00 starts now. we begin tonight with the latest on daca and reports that president trump is expected to announce an end to the obama era immigration program tomorrow. daca or deferred action for childhood arrivals grants work permits up to 790,000 undocumented immigrants who came to the u.s. before 16. today, protesters gather to do the white house, lindsay watts is live with reaction. lindsay. >> reporter: it's much quieter than earlier. tonight there's still a few protesters left behind, the people behind me are part of a korean asian american organization and they've had representatives here in front of the white house around the clock for the past 21 days. their stay will be ending tomorrow when the president is expected to make his decision on the program. >> pending the decision to

heard. >> reporter: grace cole thought someone was setting off fireworks outside her townhouse in the 5500 block of harper's farm road sunday night. she later learned the sound was a gunshot. that howard county police say took the life of 25-year-old miko locksley. his younger brother shared these photos with fox 5. miko is on the right. >> when i looked out i saw them taking a guy, trying to give him cpr on the stretch and then took him away. i have i have babies in here. >> reporter: he's the son of former university of maryland football coach and dc nave mike locksley. university's athletic department released a statement monday saying, quote, the entire maryland athletic department's thoughts are with mike locksley and his family during this difficult time. mike locksley is now a coach at the university of alabama. at a before practice news conference, headcoach nick

4 in the middle of the atlantic. we want to start off with local weather. first day of school for maryland students, tuesday is bringing the warmth and thunderstorms, it's a very comfortable gorgeous evening. 76 in washington. 73 dulles, 74 manassas and 72 in leonardtown. not even a cloud out there. just clear skies overnight. and we're going to start off with sunshine tomorrow. but there's a cold front still ripping through the ohio valley. strong storms, and that cold front will be overus this time tomorrow night. we got thunderstorms in the forecast. so your tuesday looks like this, starting off with sunshine, nice and mild to the morning bus stop. by this evening and the timing that's been pushed back on this is the front may lag a bit. what originally looks like late afternoon may become more of an evening situation. but definitely a squall line with strong storms possible

the song was seen and broadcasted. no comment from disney or south park on the lawsuit. . these days we hear a lot about fake news. two professors from penn state are hoping to make a different. they won a 300,000 grants from the national science foundation to develop technology that will weed out fake news from your digital device. the professors say fake news has been around decades but made worse by the internet and social media. it may be the labor day but new numbers show the average american works longer hours than people in the majority of all of the other countries. the survey shows we work an average of 137 more hours a year than people in japan. 260 more than u.k. and 500 more hours than people in france. more than half of americans though, who were surveyed plan to take time off over the labor day weekend. that still doesn't make up for all the time we work more than everybody else. >> there's also studies that come outnd

10:30. right now at 10:30, what will happen to hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants, advocates are protesting as dreamerses wait for an official decision on daca >> some parts of the east coast are getting ready for hurricane irma a long to do list for congress, lawmakers heading back to work tomorrow, we'll take a look at the crucial issues they need to address. your news starts now. we're expecting the trump administration to announce an end to daca tomorrow >> the deferred action for childhood arrivals program grants work permits to 800,000 undocumented immigrants who came to the u.s. as children, lindsay watts is outside of the white house where protests in support of daca were held today. >> reporter: jim and sarah, there was a vigil with local faith leaders at the white house and those people linked up with protesters who have been at the white house around the clock for the last 21 days in support of daca. we'll show you video

another starting wednesday, late week beautiful but we're watching irma closely. here's an up close 3d look at irma, very strong, these are the cloud tops billowing all of that convection on the outside of irma but it's the eye so distinct and pronounced that you see in these textbook cases of hurricanes this strong and irma is one of those. category 4, within sustained 140 miles an hour, pressure dropped to the 43 million bar, hurricane watches and warnings are out for the u.s. virginia islands and puerto rico as the category 4 storm approaches by midday wednesday. notice this track goes west, northwest through a few land masses, a lot of before a had a ma islands and cuba. the track takes it offshore avoiding cuba and setting sights on southern florida within that cone of uncertainty, key west, miami, west palm,
