>> as you can see from the run down over there on the side of the screen this is the big story at 6:30. now the storm is still making its way through the caribbean. in fact at last check it is still a category five storm with maximum sustained winds of 180 miles per hour. gusts up to 200 miles per hour. >> the storm brushed past puerto rico overnight dumping heavy rain and packing some high winds. that comes just hours after it hit several other islands. now at least 10 people dead. the number expected to climb as the storm makes its way

florida will likely feel the effects in the coming days. the state already making emergency declarations and ordered evacuations from low lying coastal areas. >> let's check in with sue palka for the latest on the storm's track, sue. >> hi, shawn and jim. today there was a shift in the track. some of the model members were pushing it more to the west and that is a bad scenario for south florida where a hurricane watch is now in effect likely to get changed to a hurricane warning in the next 24 hours or so depending on if the track maintains itself. here is our storm tonight. look at it. it is still a category five. although just a slight bit weaker than yesterday taking it from 185 sustained winds to 175 miles an hour sustained winds moving through the turks and caicos right now. at some point it is expected to make a bit of a turn to the right and that would mean that it would put south florida in the path. here are the main points as we look at our hurricane irma tonight. it is again as mentioned moving through the turks and caicos late t

the day tomorrow southeastern bahamas will get hit. the track, though did shift west today and that would bring it on this track the center of it into south florida. that would be late saturday going downhill saturday afternoon into saturday night and early sunday. very frightening storm surge scenario there for south florida with maybe a five to 10-foot surge on top of high waves, strong waves, heavy waves and then additional rain of seven to 12-inches just really in the saturday and sunday time frame. that's the main headline that we're watching with our hurricane irma. the category five again is moving west-northwest at 16 miles an hour and you can see that as we watch this track going back on into south florida, again a very wide cone of uncertainty but this would be something that will likely start to get narrowed down in the next few days and then beyond that moving up into central georgia and eventually into kentucky and tennessee. i want to ask my produce

one would be government spending is going to increase dramatically and it will try hard to rebuild those areas and that's going to have an impact with the budget deficit. >> when you look back 11, 12 years ago with katrina what were the long lasting impacts that we see today. >> katrina was unique. some jobs did not return. what we'll see i think in miami and florida is a full recovery because that industry, the tourism industry is very vibrant. new orleans had a slower growth period. they finally got back. it took a few years. i think miami is going to recover a lot quicker and i think the oil industry in texas is already showing positive signs of a strong reemergence. >> i heard this could have an impact on cars in general car buying, automobiles. explain how. >> at least a half a million autos have been destroyed in texas from the floods. >> wow. >> so, that's going to boost demand. >> that's a big port. that's why they come through galveston and other areas down there, too. >> and it was the nature of the flood. the cars sitting in the water

these are accounts we're told that were linked to troll sites that supported russian government entities. now, facebook says about 3,000 posts had come out between the period of 2015 and 2017. the goal here wasn't really so much to endorse a particular candidate. that's not what was going on. they were poking and prod at americans' hot button issues like gun control, like civil rights. the result of this today, though, was that the watchdog group common cause, they filed this complaint. take a look at this thing. this went to the justice department. this also went to the federal elections commission. what they're asking for is a new investigation, a new investigation that's going to look at these troll sites that have been posting ads on facebook. we spoke with the president of common cause today, erin hole bert flynn.
