where is miss whalen? that's a question so many students at wild lake high school are asking . we're just praying she comes back. she's a great teacher and all. i had her last year. hopefully she comes back and safe and sound. she's a great teacher. she's always there for her students. an amazing teacher actually. students tell us they haven't heard much from administrators at the school since it was first announced that whallen was missing. >> the first day they said there was a teacher missing, but not so much from them right now. yesterday a plea from whallen's family, including her boyfriend, the father of her unborn child. the family offering $25,000 for information leading to where she might be. it doesn't matter what's happened. it doesn't matter what type of trouble. nothing we can't fix

police are keeping a lot of the he details about this investigation to themselves. there are a few things that we do know. we do know that her car was found at an apartment complex near the colombia mall. also we are told the last time that he she communicated with the family member was on labor day. remember she was supposed to show up for work the next day . she accident. meanwhile here at at the home, not much activity at all. we haven't seen anybody coming and going here for most of the day when we've been here. back to you guys in the studio. >> some breaking news right now involving the arrest and death of freddie gray. late this afternoon the justice department announced it it will not be bringing federal charges against the six police officers involved in gray's arrest. they charged the officers saying gray's neck was broken when he was transport ed back in 2013. three of the officers were found not guilty at trial. the prosecutor dropped the

but five of the six officers face disciplinary charges. those are set to begin next month. the disappearance mystery of the disappearance of the lyons sisters came to an end . lloyd well rn was sentenc ed to 40 years in prison. he has been involved in a investigation that has baffled investigators for decades. >>reporter: two and a half years after the fibula searching a mountainside not far from here for the remains of catherine and sheila lion, lloyd welsh walked into a courtroom in bed ford, virginia and admitted he was behind the abduction of the girls 42 years ago. lloyd welsh appeared in the courtroom today looking thinner and much older than is 630 years. the judge asked the former carnival worker and former convicted pedophile

southern approach of reagan national tonight. take a look at this. one of these airport is coming in right now. before they land here at reagan national or over at bwi marshal they're often sent on approaches that accepted them over homes in southern maryland, homes in northern virginia. but ever since the faa switched to a system called next shin, a system that was supposed to reduce noise for the majority of homeowner, the people who live in those homes will tell you it has virtually ruined their lives . take a look at at this video, this letter that was sent out to today. this came from governor larry hogan this afternoon directing his attorney general, the attorney general of the state of maryland, brian frosh telling him to sue, sue the faa, sue the federal aviation administration. the reason, hogan wants a lieu suit filed on behalf of those homeowners who are at the brunt of all of this airline noise much the point of this e says is that

their lives have been ruined by this the governor says and he wants an end brought to it from all of this increased airline noise that the the governor has identified and people have been telling us about. a little bit more about this, 35 billion-dollar, that's how much it cost the faa to create next jen, its goal was simply to use computers to reroute airplanes to better airs to reduce the noise. you talk to the people in southern, maryland , you talk to some people in northern virginia they'll tell you that is simply not the case and it's not what happen. we went over to southern maryland today and talked to some of the people. they say some of the neighborhoods, the quality of life has just been ruined. it's scary to hear them flying so low . it's got to be annoying as well. >> it's very annoying. how is it living with those planes. >> it's noisy. that's what he they do iml do you think i

over the ocean over the area of president obama city of charleston. water spouts are considered to be kind of a weaker cuss cousin to tornadoes hence the name they typically form over water and are very common after hurricanes pass through. the death toll continues to rice after the destructive path. at least 12 people were killed in the us. that's in addition to more than 30 other deghtsz in the carribean. power has been restored to 2 million customers in florida, but another 4 million residents are still in the disark. irma's furry devastated the florida keys. 2e destroyed and another 65 percent suffered major damage. in florida, people and businesses acrss the region are starting the recovery process. sitting in long traffic lines trying to make their way back home. once they get imak to the upper keys they'll get a chance to take in the scope and begin to clean up it's likely when they get there

cell service. miami and fort lauderdale opened. what a summer in the tropics it has been. >> very active. and two category fours back to back in the united states. unbelievable . we're still talk ing about jose but locally we'd get a couple of irma today the air over us is so dry we've seen very little. a couple of drips here and there and some sun breaking out. we're not going to get a big smack from ir ma's remnants although we'll have to deal with them later on this week, maybe a rum of thunder. not much is showing up on radar. maybe you're seeing a bit more sunshine. but the remnants of irma are still out there. they are centered over northwest alabama right now. still some good rain with it, but it looks a whole lot better than it did yesterday and as mentioned before the break, the national hurricane center has given its last advisory on irma, bu n

area of low pressure. they get set up through pennsylvania and they'll be out of here. there's still some good rain. the lat est on jose, still a category one hurricane. it's located right now about 480 miles north, northeast of grand turk. the last thing anybody wants to see, a very stubborn storm. and it still maintains the loop that has been prom incontinent over the last 24 hours. it doesn't seem to be getting any closer to the east coast and on a tuesday that is reassuring. but it does maintain the category one status for a while. i thought i'd show you the spaghetti models, too, because there's one outlier that takes it into central new jersey . the others are going to take it somewhere between the east coast and the island much bermuda. we will continue to watch it in this busy hurricane season. as a result of a bit more sunshine, though, we've got a temperature of 78 here in the district. seventy-two gates but, winchester 70, a lot of

some sunny breaks have led to a pretty pleasant afternoon and evening. we'll keep it more clouds than sun at 7:00 with a temperature of 73. by 9:00 partly to mostly cloudy and by 11:00, p 70. i've got to say we're not quite done with chance s for showers. they'll probably arrive overnight and some showers are in the forecast during the day tomorrow. for 5:00, still keeping everything down to our south today on tuesday. but if we can over come the dry air and i suspect we will in the overnight hours as high pressure pushes east we'll allow a few showers to get in here, maybe for the morning rush hour. they do not last long. by the noon hour most of them are either east of 95 or pretty much east of the bay and then it looks like we break back out into sunshine as we get into wednesday. so some good news there. it doesn't look like we're going to have to deal with much more than some overnight or morning showers as a warm front comes on through our area and feeling a little bit warmer tomorrow with more sunshine

, weak category three. would you go out in conditions like we saw in saint martin. >> we would chase any hurricane it doesn't matter what the intensity of it is. it comes when it comes to game planning about how you are going to do it safely you have to keep in mind what are the dangers, war all the conditions that are going to be around you and have a plan how you're going to get around them or be able to deal with them so you can be safe. for example, when you're chasing hurricanes it always is you don't want to drown and you also don't want to hit anything in the wind. >> not typically in your control . some adrenaline junk junkies right there. coming up, questions continue to swirl around the death of a 19 year old found inside a walk in freezer. they saw in surveillance video that contradicts what the girl's mother believes. a plane crash caught on camera. the trouble the pilot was

>> developing tonight, new information the death of a young chicago woman who was found dead in a hotel freezer. police are now examining video that appears to show herein side the hotel hours earlier. the chicago try bun reports that the facebook live video appears to show 19 year old can i neek a sitting on a bed with other people nearby. her body was found in walk in freezer on sunday. her mother says police told her she showed her walking towards the freezer alone. she says no footage of jenkins entering the freezer exists. she was so intoxicated the girl got trapped in there. her motr

to host six senators, three republicans and three democrats hopefully to attack this issue where we haven't seen imree hencive \tax\tacks reform since the reagan administration. i'll tell you this, we still don't really know many details about the president would like to see when it comes to tax reform, but one number he he did give us was to lower that corporate tax rate to just 15 percent. something many believe would never pass on the hill. well, sarah huk bi sanders was asked about that hurdle the president is expected to face at today's briefing. the president i think has demonstrated both in his imis world and as president that he can make deals and that is certainly what he's looking to do and he's going to work hard to make sure we get the best deal possible on tax right form and i think that starts with things like tonight having h conversation and moving that ball forward working bipartisan support from both sides. and now onto north korea's nuclear efforts. you may recall that la

we're talking about elections like the mayor, city council, local issues that come up on these local ballots. they were actually supposed to vote on this back in august, but at the time the city council decided to postpone it. they wanted to consider some more option. there were also some threats made as a result of this propose l al. we checked in with the city tonight. they say there are no known threats, but essentially what this decision will come down to, there are essentially three options and one they could vote yai or nai on allowing non us sits sengs to vote here in the city of college park. the second option is to kick this to the voters. put this issue on a referren dumb for the november balance the on the and allow voters whether or not whether us non us citizens could vote and then the third is basically the city to study this issue furt are and then make recommendations further down the line. tonight at seven:30 the city council expected to take up this issue for what loo
