>> ♪ >> ♪ >> happy thursday everybody. we're going to start 5 at 6:30 with breaking news from south korea. north korea has fired an unidentified missile from its capitol in pyongyang. now, this is still a developing story. we are waiting for new details. we understand that u.s. military sources are trying to explore this to get more details on this. as soon as we get information, we will bring that to you but we certainly know this has been a too much topic of discussion lately especially with the un announcing sanctions against north korea. >> are we getting desensitized does this shock people when this happens. the initial reports coming out just a little while ago. let's talk about a crisis that's facing us here, the power is still out to parts of flid

effort to get it turned back on is taking on new urgency after deaths of eight people at a senior citizens home. >> president trump is in florida. as you can see from the run down on the side of the screen this is one of the big stories at 6:30 there we are there for you 100 percent. i'll be back here numerous times. this is a state that i know very well as you understand and these are special, special people and we love 'em. >> president trump visited naples and fort myers this afternoon two of the hardest hit areas in florida irma devastated parts of the state left millions without power and caused at least 25 deaths. fox's joel waldman picks up the story. >> reporter: here in the hard hit florida keys, more and more emergency supplies are arriving but the recovery effort remains slow as entire neighborhoods were completely wiped out. >> it's going way ahead of schedule, weeks ahead of schedule and much of it, most of it i guess outside of the keys where we have a very special problem but

working hard on that. >> reporter: president trump in florida thursday, visiting the naples fort myers area surveying irma damage and visiting with survivors. president trump noting that an army of power repair crews are making progress. >> there are more electrical people in this state i think than ever accumulated anywhere in the world. from all over the country they came. midday thursday 25 percent of customers across florida are still without power. that includes a number of nursing homes across the state and some areas rescue crews are now checking in on seniors and helping residents without air conditioning relocate. police meanwhile are looking into a hollywood florida nursing home where eight patients died under sweltering conditions, a criminal probe continues into those deaths. >> they assured me that this is a hurricane shelter. your mother will have the best care. >> reporter: down in the hard hit florida keys the national guard is

distributing food and water as both remain in short supply. >> and now we're in the process of cleaning properties, cutting trees, shoveling mud and throwing everything that we lost out. >> reporter: utility officials warn that despite their progress, it could be a week or more until all floridians are up and running with electricity. reporting from key largo, joel waldman, fox news. >> well, before the president hit the road to florida he met with top congressional democrats about the daca program. there was a lot of back and forth over whether they were close to reaching a deal. >> the president tweeted there was no teal made despite top democrats putting out a press release saying they agreed with the president to put at least portions of the dream act into law as well as tackle increased border security. look, here's the thing. it's they said-he said at this point. >> he came out later this afternoon and said we're going to work on this. >> he sent out some tweets today fitz saying he was all

[laughter] >> reporter: that's a little bit about what was going on today from all sectors of d.c. now, nancy pelosi and chuck schumer came out of that dinner that we will talked abou --we talked about last nigt the white house and their version of it was we have a deal on daca, we are going to bolster the defenses along the u.s.-mexico border and oh, by the way, we're not going to build the wall. almost immediately for the white house side, a completely different version of reality of what they talked about. from sara huckabee sanders first saying that there was no de

this morning and then even in the president's own tweets, this kind of flip side of the coin. on the one hand saying who would want to throw these daca recipients out of the country and then on the other talking about the wall all caps in another series of tweets. so, this is what we were left with. that sets the stage for what went on at the capitol this morning. first nancy pelosi, then paul ryan. paul ryan was out there to talk about some other things. nobody was there to ask him about those other things. this was the back and forth that we heard this morning. >> that's why this was not a negotiation, these are discussions understanding people's positions. >> well, i'm not here to speak about what the president understands. but i -- you know, i do believe that there is an understanding that down the road there is an eventual path to citizenship in the dream act and that overwhelmingly the american people support that. >> reporter: well, this is what we know

conservatives on the republican side hard liners when it comes to immigration, they are not happy about what they are hearing came out of that meeting last night. breitbart news took the extraordinary step of running a story labeled amnesty don. aimed right at the president for his [inaudible] others in congress have more measured responses. representative steve king said that the president was in danger of blowing up his own base. this is strong language. we talked about this last night, shawn and jim. the conservatives who have been looking at that are very concerned that the president is going to cut some deal here and leave them in the dust, essentially turn his back on the things he had been promising his own constituent base and they are very concerned about losing support in their own wing of the party over this a t

got to get moving soon. >> absolutely. we're saying we need a bill on the desk of the president by thanksgiving, tax cuts especially for our middle class. and our hard working small business owners. >> so far it seems we've heard people saying they're trying to get people riled up about it. before they actually reveal some of the details of this plan. you miss -- you mentioned tax cuts for the middle class. what else do you think that the american people want to see from this. >> exactly these two items. it's tax cuts for the middle class and tax cuts for our small businesses owners. you know, the small business owners represent 29 million of them across the country employing 56 million people. that's 85 million people across this country that depend on the success of small business. >> we have been talking about bipartisanship on many different issues and one discrepancy we've heard is that president trump wants a 15 percent tax rate for corporations. looks like congress says we could do 20, we're not sure about 15. if it goes to a

that something you can stand behind or are you saying 15 or nothing. >> oh, no, no, it's absolutely -- let's go as low as we can go. 15 percent is obviously what we're advocating for. we continue to push for that along with the president but if we get to 17, 18, 20 percent that's better than where we are today. >> alfredo, we've seen the president reach across the aisle, we were talking about this whole idea of bipartisanship. how important is that as we push forward to actually get a plan passed here? >> look, i think it's very refresh to go have bipartisan ship being introduced in d.c. at this point. when we have 85 million hard working americans both employers and employees of small business owners dependent on the success of that small business, if it's bipartisanship that's going to be required to get a deal done, let's get it do and. >> you mentioned a lot about small businesses and you're right that it's a very important facet of the american economy. there are people out there say we're fine with small businesses getting tax cuts but i don't want to see the big corporations, i don't think they should get the same treatment. what's your

that mind-set. >> when you look at broader tax reform corporations are a big part of our economy. we need to be competitive across the world. we aren't there today. so, we do need to do cuts for our larger corporations as well. but you know, right now we're here to talk about our small business owners because they don't have the lobbyists on k street that our large corporations in this country do. >> you're going out on a bus tour, right, there's a big push on your end to advance this cause, right. >> absolutely. in fact, the tour -- already the bus is already in place here in washington. we have a rally -- excuse me a press event going on tomorrow at 9:30, tax cuts now.com is a petition actually where we have folks pushing to have that tax cut immediately. >> that's the plug we were waiting for . >> [laughter] >> you got to get the plugs in alfredo. >> you mean the tax cuts now.com plug. >> there you go alfredo. way to get it in. you're experienced in this. >> thank you. >> we appreciate it. >> appreciate it. >> in addition to alfredo the

it's an eventful place to be in south korea after the news we just heard of a missile launch over there. >> you know, it is. i have to tell you though people are going about their regular course of business. we've been talking to the mayors of several towns here, cities and pretty much they've gotten used to the tension between north and south korea and they're going about their regular business. >> i think it's fascinating to be able to see you you and talk to you. we have no idea. we would think there might be a little more tension or chaos there but everybody seems very calm especially the folks behind you. [laughter] >> yeah, they are. i mean, i was meeting with the mayor yesterday right next to seoul and we're close to, you know, north korea and we talked about the -- we were talking about in the united states, our education system, healthcare, the one thing they have mentioned over and over again is their fear that the trade

administration is putting in place may have an impact on -- on them. and actually they talked about daca. >> wow. >> well, because a number of their students are -- number of their students come over to america, gotten educated there and started in high school and in college and now are fearful they won't be able to work because they won't be able to get through the process. so, it was interesting those issues were brought up. >> all right, so let's talk about why you're there in the first place because obviously you know, we get that perspective from you but you're there for a reason right now. >> right. we brought about eight businesses with us and the idea is to introduce what we're doing in prince george's county to -- to three cities in south korea and we also brought a representative from the university of maryland which is a top tier research institution and so interest is in cyber security, high tech and eduti

so we've been touring some of their, you know, premiere high schools and introducing our businesses to them. so, it's been a good trip for us. we're going to sign a sister city agreement today and we're excited about that. >> i know you're trying to push all the wonderful things that prince george's county has to offer and i have to ask you about something that's being pushed right now. i know amazon is looking for a second headquarters. we know the district is vying for it, we know virginia and we also know college park maryland is also trying to get it there. what are you hearing about that? >> we've been working on that the whole time i've been over here and in fact we mentioned that to a number of the cities here that we're going after amazon, it's going to be a great opportunity. my team back home is working very closely with the university of maryland. we think we have some great sites that we can offer to amazon and so we're going to make a fullout pledge. i know we'll be meeting with the governor's office, governor hogan's office about this but we think we hav

>> ♪ >> i don't know about you but it was quite a sight to see at joint base andrews today. the base's annual air show kicked off today. >> this year the world's famous geico sky typers air show team a vintage world war ii planes. chip basden was there for all the high flying excitement. >> pick up the pace. >> runway too small to do a formation takeoff so just go úin single shots here for safety. >> chip. >> yes, sir, i'm good. >> this particular model is an snj3. navy world war ii planes. there's a lot of history behind them. these planes were built in world war ii. this was is 1941 vintage. trained all the navy pilots how top land on the aircraft carrier and dog fight, things like that before they went off to combat. >> (gi

>> most have similar backgrounds. we did the military now a lot of us are flying airlines and then doing this on the side. >> will be circling overhead. >> air show teams our big claim to fame is our air show. we have 20 minute routine. we get together and we do all sorts of -- we draw hearts, we do old world two tactics, dog fights. >> straighten out. >> we're flying in formation we get in nice and tight and then there's turbulence you know when you're flying around in an airliner everyone is bouncing around and i as you get real close you usually all hit the same pocket at the same time so you're kind of bouncing the same way. sometime it can be a little scary if you get real tight you get a wing flash. we pass each other hand signs

each other on the radio. >> slowing, slowing. tuck it in. >> got the very unique characteristics compared to other planes. when you're down low, canopy open do aerobatics in them, they're a delight to fly. we put five planes in a formation and the computer puts out puffs of smoke out the back and we fly along and we can write messages, 3 miles of messages a minute and the letters are as big as a skyscraper so you can see them from all around. the computer does it so it's crystal clear. i think there's been a misspelling or two. we have a lead and so everybody's flying off the lead and then he has a right wing, a left wing and the position we were flying is a slot. we were riding the trail. that was the position we were in the most and then we can split into some other formations like the
