we're previewing the air show and celebrating the 70th birthday of the air force this morning and so happy to be here. tucker, i know you got an early start out here this morning. your thoughts so far. >> my first thought is just how welcoming everybody has been. just been -- very exciting to be here, and my second thought is, i had no idea the sheer size of some of the aircraft until i started to walk underneath them. how cool is it that you come out this weekend and check out these impressive aircraft. >> if you've never to an air show before -- >> i confess i have not. >> the beauty of it is as we just learned you can walk on the aircraft. you can walk around the air aircraft. you can walk inside the air aircraft. there will be people positioned by each aircraft who are experts. the men and women who fly these planes and on the crew on these planes to tell you all about them. we'll try to showcase and spotlight as many as we can. >> i will say, we just toured one, steve, the one behind us the refueler, and you think you have respect for the military and each job that goes into this big picture of keep ugh safe

tour on board. but you actually flew this plane before. we were blown away to fine out during refueling missions the planes are literally 50 feet apart for ten to 15 minutes flying that close to each other the precision is just unbelievable. >> so it's inherent dangerous but you have professionals. wee been doing since sips the late 40s early '50's as an air force just like that. just like the gps satellite that allowed you guys to dodge traffic and get here today. that's an air force issue. i mean all of those capabilities, networks, weather satellites, all of these aircraft are part of your air force and that's just one example of all the things that your young men and women that volunteer to come in and serve our nation do, and it's pretty cool to be either in in front or behind 25,000 feet getting gas. >> and we know such an impressive resume. you are very modest person. you've flown 4100 hours. do you fly in your recreation time

>> i was just thinking when he was talking how awesome it would be to know how to fly an airplane. >> oh, my gosh. >> jet blue has this program in four years -- >> they'll train to you fly commercially. >> high school diploma ged all you need. >> okay. >> true story. >> we have more true stories to share. good day d.c. on this friday september 15th. of course, we'll have much of more from giant base andrews all morning long. first though we do have to get to some breaking news. it's been a busy morning. >> the breaking news coming to us from london this morning. that is where homemade bomb exploded on a tube train during the morning rush at the parsons green station. that blast left 18 people hurt most of the flash burns but still pretty dangerous there as you can tell. passenger snapping a picture of the actual device before it detonated. you can see what looks like a plastic container there on fire. authorities on scene say it was a terror tack and right now all out manhunt is on for suspect or suspects. london has stemmed up its police presence in the wake of the latest violence and despite a series of attacks in the past year, the city's mayor says

will never be intimidated or defeated by terrorism. president donald trump woke up to the news of the bombing and rirreacted calling the attackere loser the he also called for cutting off access to the internet for extremist groups. also breaking overnight another north korean missile test. last night it conducted its longest ever test flight of a ba lace tick missile sending the long wage weapon 140 miles higher and 600 miles farther than a similar missile launched in late august. now, that's far enough to reach the united states territory of guam. missile sailed over japan before splashing down in the pacific ocean. the united nations security council will hold an emergency meeting later today to discuss the new launch. the other big story this morning is taking place right here at home. a three-year-old mystery. maybe a step closer to finding some answers. all right. catherine hoggle' twos children disappeared in 2014 and haven't been seen since. she was arrested but

be mentally unfit to stand trial but last night, prosecutors moved forward with an indictment. charging her with murder. annie yu live in the newsroom with the very latest on this story. annie? >> reporter: good morning to all of you. in just a few hours, catherine hoggle will face a judge in circuit court after being indicted on those murder charges. late last night, the mother of two was indicted for the murders of her children sarah and jacob hoggle, right now she's being held without bond. we will be at the 1:30 hearing. now the 30-year-old mother of two is the last known person to have seen the kids before they disappeared three years ago in september. these are age progressed photos of the children her son jacob was just two years old he disappeared her daughter was very was three. hoggle has history of mental illness including paranoia and schizophrenia. when the children went missing she told police she left her toddlers with a friend but as has never provided details on their whereabouts. hoggle had been under going treatment at a state psychiatric hospital in jessup and up until now, she was facing misdemeanor charges of child negle

abduction and hindering law enforcement but her doctors have repeatedly found her not competent to stand trial. now, prosecutors with the montgomery county states attorney office they believe hoggle murdered her two kids and have argued that she's faking mental illness to avoid trial. last month her attorney had filed a motion to have those misdemeanor charges dropped, schenn was scheduled to be in court for today that. however, the murder charges now moving the case closer to being tried in a courtroom. now, as soon as we learned about the dimes late last night fox5 reached out to her attorney and her mother lindsay hoggle and both told us they had in the been aware of the charges. this is a stove we've been following closely for the last three years. we'll be in that courtroom at 1:30 when hoggle faces a judge and bring you the very latest. back up to you guys. >> annie, thank you for that update. 9:13 right now. we are also learning new details overnight about the murder of that missing maryland teacher, plus more back and forth in the debate over dreamers. we'll have the very latest when we check what else is making headlines. that is coming you. >> first though we'll head

that's awesome. going to be an experience he'll remember forever. seasons here. fall countdown is on. one week, one week left to summer enjoy it. seven days left until autumn it kicks off just after 4:00 o'clock in the afternoon next friday. tropics still active in fact late summer early fall is the most active season in the tropics and we still do have jose out there disorganized so tropical storm this morning but is expected to restrengthen into a hurricane as we head through the weekend and into next week and we are closely watching its track much it's been trending ever so slightly to the west here so far this morning that the cone of uncertainty where the center of jose could potentially be now touches the beaches here including ocean city, mary, delaware beaches, jersey shore line there so we'll keep an eye on it and again this would be kind of like the middle of next week as it gets up into our neighborhood. so we'll watch it and see just how close to the shore it ends up trending and bring uh-uh latest updates as we get them n72 gorgeous degree out there right now. tucker told us all morning long skies are blue and beautiful and

freck, the thunderbirds which is really cool, the precision flight team which is everybody wants to see, tomorrow and sunday they will close the show but this morning they're pretty much going to open the show. if we're lucky, we're going to get to see them at 10:30 this morning. >> we might have to extent the show good keep it going. >> keep it going today. it's worth it. it's definitely worth it and then drill is over you see just amazing. i don't even -- i can even imagine the hours that goes into practicing this. >> thousands every hours. >> exactly. >> amazing stuff. tucker you've been to number of aircraft earlier. allison and i toward one of the refueling planes earlier and learn about how they literally fly 50 from the time from on the aircraft when they're refueling. we got a chance to check out the flying city which can carry other aircraft. some of this stuff is unbelievable. >> i was on am bus which transports soldiers when they come back from overseas that's b1 bomber behind us, and the major i interviewed this morning organizing it's whole event, he highly recommends the wart hogs. i got to find them. >> wart hogs right over there.

we'll check the people make the biggest difference. >> right now as we've done on the zip trip if's you're familiar with that, our hometown hero. hometown in quotes today. but this is master sergeant christian hollingshead, and you did just such a brave thing. i know that you probably won't say it but i will say, that back on august 22nd, you most likely helped to save the lives of up to three people that day. can you take us back to that d day. >> sure. so i was on my way home from work about 7:00 p.m. witnessed a car exploding, um, so i knew it was a bad accident. immediately pulled off the shoulder and ran across the highway to render whatever assistance i can. >> what made you think that you can do that? >> you know, air force training. training we all receive in the air force played a huge role and it kicked in immediately and i was able to rapidly assess the

situation and determine where i could be the most help. >> people saw still in uniform i understand when this happened. people saw you literally running across four lanes of the highway to do this, and to them, it must have been like a real live hero in action. to see you going out there and sacrificing everything to try to save these people at the time you had no idea what condition they might be in. >> correct. you don't know what you're responding to in that situation and you honestly don't even know how you're going to respond if you're ever put in that situation. i'm glad i responded in the way i did. i'm proud of myself in that regard. >> you should be. have you had a chance to see the driver especially afterwards? >> no. >> no. okay. >> no, i have not. i have no update on any of the victims of the accident from the time they were transported. >> but you were there and did you your job. when you were needed. >> absolutely. >> you went above and beyond for sure. one other thing master sergeant that you are doing that's above and beyond it's your job but to us it seems above and beyond helping your particular union with everything that we are

experiencing today and this >> yes. so i'm the superintendent of the 11th contracting squadron. we do -- we procure and source whatever is needed to make the joint base andrews and worldwide mission of air force happen, and perfect example of that. we do -- we have procured everything from parking at fed ex field to the transportation from he had he can field here to the air show as well as a lot of the acts themselves. the b17, the b29, and the tour group. >> you're making sure it happens and you're making sure the show has everything that it needs. >> yes. >> i think one of the things that allison i noticed earlier, i was not aware these planes literally fly in from all over the country just to be here so that people can tour them, see them, take pictures, have that real life up close experience with not just the men and the women of the air force but the

dee employers going down range. that's the difference between the two. >> where did you go and how long were you down there. >> i went to southwest asia. can't say the exact location. i was gone a little under six months. >> you have a family. >> what is that like to be gone for that long? >> where do i start? one of the hardest things we've had to encounter being my mers deployment just talking on the phone through face time with my family. that was hard. sending videos 7:00 o'clock in the morning there it may be 10:00 o'clock at night there and they're already in bed. >> how old are your boys? >> my boys are two inn nine. >> they're babies. >> they're babies. >> they're young men. >> they're my babies much they are my babies. >> okay. talk to mow about the services or the support that your family got while you were gone. >> the services they received they had plenty of support coming just from the military family support center here on join base andrews. they would call in my supervisors would call and check on them see if they needed anything. first sergeants, you will,

21 of the h always ready on stand by. one of the cool things we got to do a couple of days ago was go up in one of these helicopters actually this particular helicopter, and fly over washington, d.c. it is so rare to have the opportunity to do that because of course after september11th when all the no fly zones went into effect you can't fly over the city itself prop. you get a great sight line when you fly into reagan national airport of the monuments if the weather is right. we went right over the city. so i want to take you on a tour of washington, d.c. like you've never seen before from inside one of these huey helicopters. here it is. >> guys, thanks for joining us today. >> that's air force colonel john tike kerr nicknamed dragon. former fighter pilot now commander of the 11th wing and joint base andrews. >> today he's also our tour guide on an exclusive flight over washington, d.c.

>> strapped in our helicopter, after a thorough equipment check and a quick wave to the second chopper on our mission of operation photograph dc, here off. leaving andrews and quickly climb to go about 1,000 feet the view is phenomenal. cell phone in hand i couldn't help but take some of my own video to remember the moment. our first major fly over reagan national airport. carefully making sure air traffic control knew we were in the area right over the runway. then over pentagon city to catch glimpse of the air force memorial right on the edge of arlington national cemetery. two landmarks so revered by the colonel and his colleagues. >> that's where our nation's heroes are laid to rest. >> sharp dive of several hundred feet and just a matter of seconds and we were basically looking into the windows of the pentagon. amazing view that continued to get even more scenic as we flew along the river past the memorial bridge and lincoln memorial. >> just to be here is such an honor.
