this is fox5 local news at ten. first tonight, a child struck and killed in virginia. tonight police are investigating what went wrong. rising tensions between the us and north korea, a war what of words with the president. this is president trump draws more controversy for his comments about some nfl players, the reaction is pouring in. the news begins right now. first tonight, we begin tw with that developing story, heart break-in alexandria after a three year old boy was killed brie a scar. there was a massive police response at executive and mount vernon avenues. fox5's lindsay watsz has the latest details. >>reporter: the driver who hit the little boy did stay on scene after the crash. it happened just across the road from us here on executive avenue. it's a two-lane road that runs through

called presidential greens. the collision happened about quarter to five and there was a huge police response. this is the chevy suv that hit the child. according to witnesses, the little boy appeared to be with his family members before the crash. police are not saying at this point if the descriefer was at fault if there are going to be any anymore criminal charges the boy's family got a ride to the hospital after the accident they did not wait for paramedics . i was on my bicycle . i turned around and you tried to find out what happened. they were running out of the buildings when they heard it. i think a couple of people were sitting on the steps and they actually saw what had happened. it's like -- it's really done something to me when i found out that it was a child involved. q. a really sad situation all around
