this is fox a five local news at ten. right now at ten, a serous crash in southeast leaves two people in serious condition and police believe the car may have been stolen. plus another woman grabbed and attacked by a stranger. tonight police are searching for the suspect than dealing with tropical depression nate, the storm triggering massive flooding in mississippi and tonight we're feeling

the news at ten starts right now we begin tonight with a serous crash in southeast d.c. it happened ray long hill crest drive. they believe the car is stolen and at least two of the three people inside are teenager s. fox5's evan lambert is live at the scene and joins us with the latest. >>reporter: i'm going to step out of the way so you can see that car behind us right now. it is there in the woods. it hit two trees, according to officials and there are investigators still on scene taking measurements. i want to show you a picture that d.c. fire ems tweeted right as they were responding to this trying to get the occupants out. you can see how smokey it was, all the smoke billowing present the car as they eventually were able to cut out the occupants. d.c. police say the car burst into flames after it crashed into two drees just off the road right after six this evening. they believe the car was stolen because it didn't have any

information that the car may have been chasing the car but officers on scene tell us their officer winter weather advisory not chasing it. we do know the car came downhill crest drive so fast it seems to have lost control. two people who were inside the car are in critical condition, a third person inside escaped on his own and has minor injuries. two of the three are teens according to the police. the fire and the damage forced police to have to cut two t trapped passengers property car take a listen. they had to cut the roof off the car to get to the occupants. there were three people in the car. one did self escape, if you want to ul contact it that. and he's at a local hospital. and so far police have not release the names of the people that were inside of that car. we also haven't got especially an update on their conditions other than to say that two of them were in critical condition when they left the scene

injuries. it's also unclear if any of the people inside that car will face charges with this possible car theft. we'll try to update you as soon as we get new information. live in southeast, evan lambert, fox5 local news. also in the district, police are investigat ing three armed robberies overnight. police re lease two photo of two person pes of interest. the robberies all happened in northwest between five and seven in the morning. the victims were targeted between 15th street, monroe street and quincy street police also release this image. the suspect showed a knife. also developing in the district the search is on for whoever shot and killed a man in southeast early this morning. omar roger was found inside a car along good hope road. police believe he was shot on martin luther king drive avenue there was no word yet on a suspect in the case. the clean up is now

the guf coast after hurricane nate blue through the region. heavy rain and strong winds and storm surge. nate made to land false, first in lieu sans a and then in mississippi. ellison barber reports. >>reporter: nate hit the gulf coast causing power outage and flooding before raising up north , but no major damn jers reported. nait initially made landfall in louisiana saturday night as a category one. it came on shore again early sunday morning just outside of bill oxy , mississippi. the wind was blowing real hard and it pushed the water straight on up and then it was pushing the water dune into the bay. nate is the the first hurricane to make land since 2005. storm surge liter red the

hewed incident happened here. actually possibly even in this wooded area you you see behind me. now teenager thel us it happened at one:30 this morning the woman told police she was walking home at the time when a man started following her and tried talking to her. police say the at one point he pushed her to the ground and there was a struggle. the woman punched the man in the face before taking off and luckily police say she wasn't hurt. neighbors in this area tell us that that wooded area you just saw there, a lot of people end up crossing through on that path just to get to and from where they need to be. but they haven't heard or seen anything like this before. it's a family oriented community . we see a lot of kids playing through here. it's also a really working, you know, community. i don't really actually see a whole lot of people in this area at that time of day because it seems like the college is already kind of wound

breaking news out of new york city. harvey weinstein has been fired sexual assault allegations against him. those allegations were first revealed by the new york city time on thursday. weinstein cofunded the weinstein companiment the company board cited new information about weinstein's conduct. so far weinstein himself has not commented on the board's decig. we're learning new details about an attack that happened friday night on the university of maryland campus. they tell us they are looking for two people who attacked a student with a baseball bat. this happened a long cam campus drive. the studentenned up in the hospital but since been release thef. investigatorses identified the attackers. p they were not umd

any arrests in the case. a shear isabella deputy is not. a deputy spotted a woman passenger wanted for several outstanding warrants in pass diseen a yesterday afternoon. the deputy was able to p pull the car over and arrest the suspect p, melissa day of certify own a park. the deputy suffered numerous injuries, but is expected to be okay. day and the driver got away. howard county police are investigating an apparent gun battle that took place at a walmart store in ellicott city. police say two men apparently got into a fight inside the store, one man shot the other. investigators say the victim went to his car, grabbed a gun and then fired shots toward the store. the victim ended up in a hospital and was treated for his gunshot wound. no ones else was injured . firefighters battled several blazes including h one a longing on den street northwest .

the trash bin of an apartment building. zc fire also battling this blaze along colombia rode in northwest. the fire is bleag blamed on someone using a grill outside on a wooden deck. one firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital. no word on their condition tonight. one week after the deadly mass shooting in las vegas many people attend church to honor the victims. this church in south las vegas urged the victims to come together. steven paddock fired onto a crowd attending a country music festival. investigators sill don't know why pad october acted . worshipers also honored the sacrifice and bravery of the first responders who helped so many lives. a vigil of the victims of the las vegas shooting was held here today. those who attendeddedded signed a petition calling for congress to take action on gun control.

organizers say they plan to send the the petition to the congress and lawmakers on capital hill. one of the big talking points that came out of the shooting was the suspected use of a bump stock. make. some members of congress are now calling for a ban on bump stocks. cue hear more now from fox's garrett ten any. a week ago most folks haven't heard of bump stocks. most of congress think something needs to be done about the the devices. mowfer, there is still disagreement over how to do it. bump stocks are what allow a person to turn regular weapons into machine gunses. they're pushing for the bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms to change the devices thement democrats such as senator diane feinstein argue that simply changing regulations isn't enough. regulatio

anywhere so we're very thankful for that. of course that's not true i cross across the entire gulf coast. nate did knock down trees and power lines. thousand s of people lost electricity, but so far no loss of life from nathan we're hearing the damage nangfully has been minute l mal. we're also seeing some weather in the northwest. tornadoes in wisconsin in october aren't that common but they can happen. this one moved through the eastern part of the state's cap to. we're told it was on the ground for ten minutes, no one was hurt but the twister did knock down some trees and tore the roof off some of the buildings. we're going to see some of the rain come in from nate. we are and we could have a few storms tomorrow. a lot happening here. we do need the rainfall. we've really been in a deficit over 22 days of no sign

rainfall for us and we are desperate for rain. we are going to welcome some of the rain that we're going to get for tonight and for tomorrow. we just don't want it to be, you know, too much rainfall, let's put it that way. here's a look at what is happening. here's our infrared satellite of nate which continues on its north, north easterly trek. it's following the path we the thought it would, moving north, northeast at 25 miles an hour and it is actually the outer rain bands are still very widespread so a lot of areas are being affected it and we're talk ing about how the deep south are still being affected. i want to tell you you that this was earlier today and we do anticipate at least another two to fowsh inches on top of these numbers. dickson, alabama almost seven inches of rainfall, more than that for crest view and almost seven for louisiana and for miss sip you pi almost five

look at a the projected path. here we go well to the west of us as far as the center is concerned, but as i said, those outer rain bands very widespread and so we are definitely going to feel the effects of it in the overnight hours of tonight into tomorrow. that's what we're talking about and we will see significant areas across the mountains which will get significant rainfall because it is to the west of us. we have a frontal system across the ohio valley. naits remnants are going to interact with the frontal system and then move its way more towards the east. because of that the ohio valley is just getting socked right now because all of that moisture is being picked up with that frontal system and so they've got two different areas that are hitting them and it's not very pleasant for them there at all, but for us as we're going to show you the timeline here of what we can expect in just a secondment heaviest rain west of the mountains because i showed you you the center is more to the west of us.

starts right now. this is fox5 local news at 11. we begin tonight with a serious crash in southeast d.c. it happened a long hillcrest drive. right now police believe the car involved is stolen and at least two of the three people inside are teenagers. evan lambert is live at the the scene and scroins us with the latest. >>reporter: police are getting ready to open up hillcrest drive right now. they've cleared the car, but it's up on a tow truck getting ready to be taken away from the scene. i want to show you you a picture of when officials first got to the scene . there was smoke billow ing from this car that had just crashed and they were work ing to save the occupants inside. d.c. police say the car burst into flames after it crashed into two trees just off the road right after six this evening. they believedded the car was stolen because it didn't have any plates on it. there was initial information that police may have been chasing the car, but police officials on scene told us us
