ready for a cool down as fall- like temperatures will make their way back to the dy region first tonight police still trying to track down suspects after a shooting at the university of maryland. one student was shot and a second student was assaulted near the u md campus last night. lindsay watts is live with the latest. >>reporter: this shooting happened just a few blocks from campus at this home over here on rhode island avenue, a group of students live here h. for the most part they have not been interested in speaking, but i did talk to one guy who came out earlier and he sayses that the two victims didn't actually live here. he wouldn't elaborate about what happened last night, but he did tell me that both victims are doing all rightment they're continuing to recover. we'll show you some video from soon after this hasmed it was around eight:20 yesterday evening when police got the call . they say when they arrived they found two male students who were hurt. one

shot, a second who was assaulted . both were taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't life threatening. they don't appear to be a random crime, but to this point they haven't had any information about a motive or su pects. the suspect pes were seen running towards the metro station. we watched police were in and out of the house. because this is so close to many contact pus, a lot of students live on this street. we're told some of the houses, including the one where the shooting happened are linked to fraternities and sororities. certainly a scary, unexpected situation for streunts who live around here. a neighbor tell us when he first heard the gunshots he thought they were fire correctersment he looked outside , he saw some people sprinting away from the house but still didn't make the assumption that a crime had he occurred. soon after, though, he saw the huge police response it was pretty interesting seeing all the cops with the the big guns and everything. and hearing them

pincher pincher. it happened on friday in a clinton neighborhood . fox5's evan lambert live tonight. >>reporter: pepco is looking into it. we contacted themment we have a statement from them shortly, but here's what the man says happened. he says his son was walking their dofg in this clinton neighborhood. they got to this light pole and the dog relieved himself and somehow got an electric shock that basically ripped a hole inside that dog's chestment we're talking about a minister pincher, 16 months old here's a picture of that dog. her name was baby. patrick dot son's dogment he said to put her down after a vet couldn't really do anything for her injuries. dot son says he called pepco reporting an electrical problem with the light pole. in a statement to fox5 pepco says they came out to investigate, but didn't find anything wrong with the pole. they are continuing to investigate they tell us today, but say
