paul wagner. he's live in edgewood where it all began. paul? >> reporter: this is the business behind me where it happened before 9:00 this morning, five people were shot inside this business here in a business park just off i95 three were killed two wounded, taken to a shock trauma in baltimore where we understand they're in critical condition. let's show you a little bit now, some information that we can pass along to you right away. this much we know so far. radee prince was a current employee of advanced granite solutions. of he has four months on the job. witnesses say he used a handgun. there were multiple people inside the business, who ran outside, who were not wounded by the gunfire and his motive at this point is unknown. the sheriff says this is very dangerous man, they don't know his motis,

and that the public should remain vigilant. let's show you video we shot earlier. at 8:58 this morning, the sheriff's office received a 911 call for a shooting inside a business in the emptierton business park off i95 in edgewood maryland. inside duties and found five victim. three dead. the two others were air lifted as i mentioned to baltimore shock trauma. all five are employees of advance granite. kevin doyle was in the back of the business when he said he heard a commotion. >> i was behind the building on the way to my tools and saw three spanish guys running back screaming, i could tell something was right and i said do you need help? they said call 911. someone is shooting next door. pretty much it. called 911 and they all scattered. went different directions and i started walking over that way and they said don't go, stay away from there. >> reporter: did you end up seeing him >> no, by the time i got there, people started coming out of th

that was about it. it was chaos. >> now, investigators say the shooter was identified very quickly by witnesses inside the business. and documents knew who they were looking for. radee prince, 38-year-old man driving plaque gmc ikeaed day with black delaware plates. police say he shot a man in the office of a used car lot. a fact confirmed by the sheriff who had this to say and an afternoon news conference around 2:00 today. here's the sheriff. >> it only takes 20 minutes to get to wilmington from here. certainly, i wouldn't say be -- -- be, where he seems in this incident to to have targeted his workplace. i don't know what the relationship is up there but i still believe he's probably targeting for a specific reason and not general. it doesn't mean he's an arm killer out there. so

anyone he encounters. >> reporter: we know that the authorities have been searching addresses, connected to prince, they have been looking for him in delaware, all through the maryland and up and down i95. they've been using helicopters and swat teams and dogs. the sheriff also wanted to pass along, of course, that they don't know his motivation and he wants the public to remain vigilant. here's the sheriff >> we have no information to say he has separated himself from the vehicle, we're again just calling for the public's help, not to try to encounter this suspect but if you see him, please pick up the phone and call 911 and let your local law enforcement know. he's gone from heartford county to delaware. we don't know what his intentions are or what his next stop may be. >>reporter: now, we know from the sheriff that they knew who they were looking for quickly because

business saw prince and now we know that apparently a witness up in wilmington delaware also identified prince and that's where we'll go now. my colleague, matt ackland is in wilmington with the latest on the search for prince and what happened up there. matt? >> reporter: paul, i'm here at the wilmington police department where there's a special command center set up on the second floor of this police station are authorities throughout this area, we're not just talking about delaware. we're talking about new jersey and maryland. they're all searching for radee prince, earlier the chief basically laid out the connection. he said it happened at a car dealership when prince arrived there and shot someone he apparently knew. police responded and went right for the victim and apparently at that time, prince's suv

leaving the scene, they wanted to attend to the victim first, then chased after the suv but it was able to get away. we asked the chief if he knew of anyone where prince may have gone to, anyone, any family member that may be shelter ing him in place and the chief had this comment for anyone who may be sheltering him tonight. >> this is a dangerous individual. this person shot six people in one day. three are dead right now. three are dead. this is a person with no conscious. this is not a person you should be protecting. this person doesn't deserve any protection of what he's done to five innocent people and the individual and the other innocent person that he's done up on 28th and northwest boulevard. my message to them is make a phone call, let us know where he's at. because he's going to go out and do more harm because he's desperate right now and as my officers south

want any of my officers coming across this individual as well and not knowing who this individual is. so they can cause harm to my officers or the public. call us, let us know where he is. give us information, help us out. because right now, this person is taken three lives and he's damaged three others. and he doesn't deserve to be protected. that's my message to anybody harboring this individual. >> something that was very shocking at the press conference, chief said the law enforcement here in delaware knew prince very well. in fact, he has been arrested 45 times, and there were 15 felony convictions. i talked to an officer, they say that is very rare for someone to have that many felony convictions. the one thing they believe that links these two actual crimes is that prince knew the victim. they believe that he knew the victims, they're not sure where he is

before, there is a command center set up here on the second floor of the philadelphia police department. authorities are doing everything they can to track him down. live in wilmington, matt ackland, fox 5 local news. our coverage continues with a fox 5 exclusive, neighbors of the suspect radee prince say for as long as they've known him, he never once seemed angry or aggressive towards anyone >> krysten leon is live in elkton, reaction from his neighbors, i can imagine earlier i was absolutely chaotic in that neighborhood. >> reporter: that's right, jim, absolutely chaotic is great way to describe it. it was more or less like a war zone out here. there were police officers with their shotguns in hand lining the street, swat members also with assault rifles in hand, as a matter of fact, there's still police out here as well. right in front you can see the maryland state police, they're crime scene division, they've been going

prince's home which i don't know how well you guys can see there, but it's directly behind that pole right next to that white house there. neighbors again, were stunned in disbelief, outside lingering around. many at one point were wondering when they'd be allowed back inside their homes. i do want to show and point out the video what it looked like earlier today. we're told police and swat teams, they've been out here since at least 10:00, 11:00 this morning, neighbors told us, you'll notice many of them like i mentioned armed with the shotguns, swat members carrying around assault rifles and neighbors just, you know, in general, stunned by all of this. they say they just can't believe the man accused of shooting and killing several people today in different jurisdictions lived right next door to them and one neighbor we spoke to, he described what it was like, his encounters with prince when he saw him outside. >> he was always nice.

i mean, he come out one morning and i said you need some help? he said i got it. no big deal. he never once showed any aggression. i come home three hours ago. and it was like, what the hell is going on? where do you live? i told them. they said well, your house is safe. next thing i know, i saw eight of them go in my house and had the windows open and sitting in my house. using my house as a base. i live right next door, i'm still trying to make -- you know, i mean, i live right next door to a killer. how do you fathom that? how do you process that? . >> reporter: that neighbor you just saw and heard from there

been another beautiful fall day, no complaints. >> i believe a lot of people thought it would cool and picked up the sun came out. nice day out there. here's sue. >> reporter: we had another cold start with a lot of places heading for the mid 30's, dc dropped to 45. a nice recovery this afternoon and pane places near 70 or even a little bit above it. 69 right now. here in dc, frederick, you're 72. 71 for culpeper. 70 in gaithersburg, westminster to 72, good news, we are not going to be quite as cold overnight. in fact, temperatures are trending anywhere from six to ten degrees warmer this afternoon than yesterday at 5:00. has a lot to do with the wind direction now coming in lightly out of the south, so that will keep us from seeing that frost advisory getting reissued tonight. that's not to say that there might not be a patch or two of frost here

widespread frost is not expected and our beautiful evening will go forward. as 7:00 i expect the temperature to be around 64 degrees. very little in the way of wind tonight, 9:00 temperature about 61. and by 11:00, we're looking about 58. quite a change from yesterday. now, we are not going to be frosty tonight. we will still be on the chilly side. let me show you what those overnight lows are looking like, 43 dulles compared to 36 last night. that will feel better. we were 45 last night, we'll be closer to 50. still chilly, no doubt about it. maybe the furnace still needs to click on tomorrow morning, not thinking you're going to have to do much in the way of scraping. a check of weather conditions for the kids at the bus stop. should feel a little bit better with range of 40 to 50 in the morning, plenty of sunshine and cool, not chilly. after school

speak with a man who met his brother-in-law in law here and said his brother-in-law works in the building where the shooting happened. he also says that he saw the shooting suspect as he went to and from work each day and he said that there were no doubt red flags. >> he always mad on work. i would say, hey, he was like, man, he never talked like with people. he was work like i believe one month, one month and a half. he was new however there. >> reporter: david mon toy yes works in the buildings where the happened. an hour after the accident there was a heavy law enforcement in this area be people who work in the area said they never seen anything like this, as for the richmond ball room where residentings are being urged to reunite. it's about an

from where it happened. it's also close to where we're told a prayer vigil will take place tonight. >> the message is that it takes all of us. it is a wholistic approach, takes the faith community, law enforcement. it takes businesses and government officials to be able to address this issue. >> reporter: and the issue that we are talking about now is workplace violence, as for this prayer vigil, tonight it will be led by, pastor brenda lewis. fox 5 will be there as long as with members of community as everyone mourns the loss of these victims, tisha lewis, fox 5 local news. while today's shooting was going on, our next guest was in the midst of teaching employees what to do in the event of an active shooter >> a company that specializes in showing businesses how to

such as today. thanks for coming in. >> absolutely. >> you were doing a class today. >> yes. >> when you heard word about this. i'm sure it plays out. do you see a major difference any time we have these workplace shooting incidents or does it sort of play out the same way? >> there are absolutely similarities between them. for instance, this particular event workplace violence in the workplace, covers roughly about 50% of those active shooter events that have been documented statistically speaking. so seeing it in the workplace, it's becoming commonplace >> from what we have been able to learn so far, is that somebody at the business granted solutions apparently had felt threatened and tried to get a protective order against him. but they weren't able to prove it. he wasn't basically able to get one. what does someone do in that case? not that he thought necessarily he was going to come back with a gun and shoot people. but what does somebody do in that case when they're trying to protect

>> to start, corporations and small businesses alone, this was a small business, five, eight, ten employees need to understand what workplace violence is. what it is not. and then what to do about it when it comes readily apparent that something is occurring. what are we seeing the pattern of? he didn't suddenly just decide this morning, this was something that was built up, built up. the employees recognized it for the months that he worked there. there needs to be with every company and corporation, a policy in place understanding what it is, what to do to help those individuals on an off-ramp, as it were instead of going down to that path to this horrible strategy >> when you have companies doing these active shooter trainings, coming up with some soft of plan, are you noticing more and more businesses at least planning ahead for the

>> there are a lot of companies being proactive and that is fantastic, there is room for improvement. you're seeing a lot of the recuperation, the continuation of operations, because that's a business. and that means money when these things occur. any active shooter event, it is discovered that roughly 25% of the employees will not come back to work. those employees of this particular location probably won't be back to work or this business, might actually go out of business. >> every business is different. some are small. some have, you know, numerous employees. what lengthths should the employer go to make sure that everybody on their staff knows perhaps there's a concern with somebody in particular, like, what can they tell you? there's a legal issue there as well >> sure there is, but once it becomes readily apparent, the employee, it's about reporting, it's up to the employee, not necessarily the employer who might not know,

not know. it's those individuals employees that said hey, you know, joe has said a few things that really aren't appropriate and reporting that. and then that, the employer then can take action, which none of the other employees really need to know about. let's be honest. we've all been in situations where you may have a coworker that you think people will joke about it flippantly, that will be person that will come back and do something. who do you tell aside from your coworkers? do you reach out to police? there's a whole system of notification things like this needs to be out there. >> in the companies and corporation that is have put those standard operating procedures in place, there's human resource, employee action or assistance programs that you can report to a supervisor and it's up to the supervisor then to inform possibly the security department for the smaller companies that might not have that type of capability, you know, it is

then to contact the local police. and the sheriff and or the -- the local police and say, look, this is the problem i'm having. how should we handle this? >> i think in the grand scheme of things, as we see what place out, seems that sometimes this is not something that can be totally avoided but it's about preparation and planning, regardless of how you go about doing it >> without a doubt. for individuals they need to have the mindset to begin with that you are going to survive an active shooter event, this is how you'll survive. first is mindset. you cannot decide the day that you start hearing gunshots that you are going to do something, what am i good day? the bad guy is already committed. planned and is there, you're playing catch-up. if you decide where is my exit? what do i do? and then they need to orient themselves to there's the violence, i need to move away.

were today. wall-to-wall sunshine again. minus the frosty start, it will be a cool start in the morning, friday's temperature 75 degrees, look at the weekend. saturday, 76. sunday, 77. so if it's just been a little too cool now, a little hint of summer-like temperatures back in the forecast for the weekend. a check of those temperatures right now, still close to 70 in most areas, 69 in dc, frederick, you're about 72 and overnight, we're not seeing as many places head for the 30's, that's why we don't have a frost advisory, but culpeper you could get down there. so could manassas into the upper 30's and patchy frost can't be ruled out but again, widespread frost is not expected tonight. also not expecting much in the way of rain be the country remains very dry with the exception of florida, pacific northwest and a couple of spots in california. we do have rain in the forecast. looks like it will be tuesday, wednesday of next week. for tomorrow, though, it's a chilly start again, not as cold as it has been. upper 30's to ne
