discovered. a murder suicide involving three teenagers in virginia. what police officers faced when they arrived on the scene, the news at 10:00 starts right now. we begin tonight with a dc man already in trouble with police for a sexual assault in the district. khary edwards is facing new charge after after prince george's county say he tried to create a similar crime. marina marraco is live with latest. marina >> that is the big question, why was this man allowed back out on the streets when less than a month ago, right here in the district, this man was arrested and charged with first degree sexual abuse. 23-year-old kh ary edwards of washington was flanked by prince george detectives as he was transported to the county jail. investigators believe edwards forced his way in a a camp strings home saturday where he attempted to rap

resident. police say edwards and the victim did not know each other. here on the dead end street of oakland way, neighbors would not go on camera. say the victim has been living in the neighborhood decades. but is now too scared to return. police chase edwards from the house as he ran away naked and were able to arrest him a few blocks away. in the district, court documents obtained by fox 5 detail claims of sexual assault by another victim. the woman says it was at this southeast gas station on alabama avenue on september 25th, where edwards parked his car, grabbed her by the neck and said, quote, you're going to take this. the woman told police edwards helped by giving her rides to and from work. on this night in late september, she claims he bent her overtime car's center console, removed her leggings and that's when she told him to get off me. and then said she gave in and edwards sexual assaulted her. she tried leaving the car and asking for help. but edward u

the car. >> and for that rape case here in the district, fox 5 has learned that edwards was under high intensity supervision which means he should have been monitored by a gps bracelet. we've also learned superior court would not say why he was back on the street only to say that it was the prosecution that requested he be released until the next court hearing, which would have been here at dc superior court friday. live tonight, marina marraco fox 5 local news. charles county where a former school aid excused of sexually abusing students facing even more charges tonight at my police arrested carlos bell in june. a grand jury indict him on 119 charges including child sexual abuse against 24 boys, filming child pornography and engaging in sexual

victims knowing he was hiv positive. he was indict on more charges of abusing 25 identified alleged victims and 14 unidentified. he's being hell would you do bond. montgomery county prosecutors dropped child porn charges against an 18-year-old who was also charged with raping a contemplates inside rockville high school. the rape charges against henry sanchez millan were dismissed for lack of evidence. prosecutors filed child pornography against him and a 17-year-old because they allegedly had nude photos on their phones. 17-year-old resolved his case in juvenile court after he admitted to possessing one image and sharing it with millan. two teenagers are dead in a third was hurt in a murder suicide in an alexandria park. police say 19-year-old was the shooter. he killed a 17-year-old girl and injured a 15-year-old boy. and then turned the gun on himself.

lindsey watts was on the scene. >> reporter: the gunman was the ex-boyfriend of the 17-year-old girl who was killed. it happened before 9:00 in this park on north pick it street. the surviving 15-year-old went down the street for help. when police initially arrived last night. they didn't know if they had an active shooter on their hands, there are multiple high-rise apartment buildings around this area. investigators took every preca precaution. >> heard shots fired in that area. >> i heard three shots. it was a woman screaming. >> reporter: it was a sprawling crime scene. two dead in a park. >> another victim outside a cvs. >> reporter: and a third victim showed up here. the police response was massive. >> they showed up almost immediately >> 104 without a supervisor

stable condition at the hospital. live in alexandria. lindsey watts fox 5 local news. washington nashes television analyst ray knight is facing assault and battery charges after fairfax county police say he got into a fight early yesterday morning, knight says four people came to his house yesterday in the alexandria section of the county. two were friends. the other who people, he said he did not know. witnesses who called police say they saw two people fighting outside and they say they appeared to be drunk. here's some of that 911 call. >> two white males fighting. >> now, both men had visible injuries and were treated at a hospital. fox 5 paul wagner caught up with knight earlier. he was reluctant to go into much detail on what happened. >> just don't want to comment. i just think that the process will take its place, and i just know that anything that i say is not going to matter until the

>> now, again, knight did not go into great detail about what happened but he did deny that he was drinking. new tonight act woman is dead after an accident in prince george's county. video from skyfox shows the after math of the two vehicle crash on laurel bowie road. investigators say a woman who what is a passenger in one of the cars was taken to the hospital where she died. the driver of the other car was also taken to the hospital, but is expected to recover. no word on who was at fault or if any charges will be filed. neighbors in a largo community want answers they say a liquor story owner want too far when he made what amounts to citizens arrest inside the store. it happened twice in last two months. evan lambert is live with video of the civilian take-downs. >> reporter: the liquor store owner had an off duty police officer escort us out of the

questions about both videos. he pulled out his own handcuffs and arrested a customer and in the second, helped police take down a man asked to leave his property. we wanted to know if that's legal. this is surveillance video from inside in august. the man at the counter overhears the clerk. according to him, getting rude with an elderly customer. he asks the clerk why he has an attitude. >> calm down. >> reporter: that customer gets a knocking a display off the counter. then things quickly get physical. the owner, jay kim runs in from outside, he's there in the cargo short. tackles davis and according to davis, even puts it in handcuffs. until police arrive. he is not a police officer or license security guard. it raises the question is it legal for liquor store owner to tackle and kind of a customer? in

circumstances a citizen's arrest is lawful. but former prince george's county states attorney glen ivy cautions against anyone taking law in his or her own hands. >> generally speaking, certainly the police tend to disfavor citizens arrest, they discourage it, for sure. citizens run a risk of being injured personally in the event while making the arrest. >> reporter: fox 5 learned that wasn't the first time the liquor store owner involved himself in an arrest. in july, this video shot by a passerby shows kim helping police bring down a trespassing suspect. and even holds the subject on the ground until police get there. so we went to ask him, if his actions are putting himself or anyone else in danger >> we're trying to ask you about making citizens arrests. do you have anything to say >> he had us escorted out by an off-duty police officer. he said kim's action could open

lawsuits or prevent police from doing their job >> police are trained to do this, they have the tools to do these jobs civilians usually aren't. there's a real risk to get in the way. make it harder for police to make the arrest and protect the public. >> i asked the prince george's county police if they could advise the liquor owner against getting physical. they haven't been able to answer that for me. the customer from the first video was later charged with destruction of property and the owner was charged with assault but both charges were dropped. nearly 6,000 people have signed a petition asking the county to close down that liquor store. but there's no indication that will happen. shawn? >> interesting. >> thank you. vandals target a private school in woodbridge with a symbol of hate. painted a swastika on the prince william's county academy school sign. vandals also damage stop signs, fire hydrant, mailbox and a vehicle. witnesses reported seeing a group of young

individual tell me they had information of dante manning's murder and i talked to detectives and detectives told me, yes, he helped close the murder and was a witness in the case and the information was good. a lot of information checked out but i couldn't find a set of eyes to help me confirm some of the things he was saying that occurred. once he stole the weapons, one day, he responded to the area at abc building where he was murdered to buy drugs. why he was up there buying drugs at that particular time. he said the guy laid him down, took his money, his gun and he left the area and never came back. at some point later, he found out that the

was here in this neighborhood in front of the building where the murder occurred. police told an informant he came up hear, saw the guy, stood on the corner, fired shots at him and at that time he did not know, later on in the news, that the kid was shot at that particular time and the gun was later recovered in the same area. which was three blocks from where dante manning was shot >> the two people had come to the conclusion at least that were probably involved, they're not walking the streets, >> no. based on all the information that i gathered during the investigation, those are the two people who came to a point of closure and all these year one is doing 40 years plus the other life >> i never met

more charges against a former charles county school aid accused of sexual abusing students. there could be more victims. more questions in death of four u.s. service members in niger. lawmakers call for a congressional investigation >> big competition over amazon's second home, how many proposals the company now has to choose from. news starts now. off the top, a dc man in trouble with police for a sexual assault in the district >> facing new charges after prince george's county police say he tried to commit a similar crime against a woman in camp spring. marina marraco live in the northwest with the latest. >> reporter: that dc man is now charged with attempted rape and attempted murder in prince george's county. this is 23-year-old khary edwards. he forced his way into a cam

spring home on saturday and tried raping the resident. last month, edwards was arrested and charged with fire department sexual abuse in the district. released under court supervision pending the outcome of a hearing scheduled later this week. two teenagers are dead, a third injured in had a murder suicide in an alexandria neighborhood park. police say lopez shot and killed a 17-year-old girl and injured a 15-year-old boy. and shot and killed himself. police are only confirmed the victims and the suspect knew each other, they don't believe this was gang related. the 15-year-old is expected to survive. washington nationals television analyst ray knight is facing assault and battery charges after fairfax county police say he got into a fight with an acquaintance, it happened at knight's home in the alexandria section. knight did not want to talk about what happened but denies witness accounts that two men fighting were drunk.

offender in charles county, carlos bell is facing more charges >> he's you accused of sexual abusing 24 boys while knowingly infected with hiv. we're learning there are more victims, coh, ri coffin is in the newsroom with more. . >> reporter: this case continues to grow, carlos bell was arrested in june originally. authorities citing seven alleged victims. fast forward to july, a grand jury indicted him on 119 charges including sexual abuse, filming child pornography, distribution of marijuana and attempting to transit hiv. the second indictment alleging 24 victims. this third, 2 soar 6 county indictment covers 28 alleged identified alleged victims and 14 unidentified, in total, 42 alleged victims between 11 and 17 years of age uncovered during the ongoing

county public schools as an instructional assistant and a track coach, including benjamin stoddard, and la play at a high school as well. this abuse is alleged to have had to have occurred between may 2015 and june of 2017 at benjamin stoddard school as well as waldorf's home and other locations. the indictment accuses the 30-year-old without wearing protection and knowingly being hiv positive. they're not aware of any victims actually testing positive for hiv but asking parents and possible virgin islands to come forward as this investigation continues, meanwhile, bell remains in jail, being held without bond, trial set for january, 2018, if convicted bell faces life in prison. back to you guys. to developing news, news of a deaths of

soldiers in niger dominated the news cycle as questions grow over what happened. congressional members threaten subpoenas to get information. a top u.s. general is answering questions. fox news lauren blanchard has more from washington. >> reporter: the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff general joseph dunnford spoke at length with reporters trying to clear up the timeline of what happened in niger but admits there's a lot more the military needs to learn >> we owe you more information, more importantly, we owe the families of the family more information. >> reporter: general said on october 4th, a group of 12 american soldiers and 30 nigerian forces were attacked by presumed isis fighters while traveling 80 miles outside the capitol resulting in the deaths of four americans. questions remain if the u.s. had enough intel and equipment for the mission. if there was a planning failure. and why it took so long to recover the body

. number of americans abusing prescription painkillers leveled off in recent years, so far no signs of declining. researchers tracking the u.s. opioid epidemic said the abuse of pain killers appears to have plateaued after spiking in 2000. in 2014 nearly 14% of u.s. adults and teenagers admitted to abusing these drugs. the findings under score the importance of giving patients other ways to manage pain. a study show as troubling trend increased in self harming among teenagers, social media may actually be to blame. researchers say self harming among girls 13 to 16 jumped 68% between 2011 and 2014. boys in the same age group saw a 52% increase during that time. experts say bullying body image issues and

gloomy day. we had a couple nice days over the weekend. the gravy train is over >> we will have nice weather. beginning tomorrow. it's just overnight rain. it's all right though. we don't need rain in the middle of the day, we're expecting showers moving in shortly. moving in now to many northern and western suburbs but dc should be getting sprinkled followed by a round of gusty right nows overnight and we will quickly clear out. tomorrow believe it or not will be a lot better than today, pretty muggy, we had a lot of fog to overcome. pretty remarkable how warm it's been not just today but much of october. about six degrees above normal. we clear out quickly tomorrow morning but it stays breezy, cooler air arrives by wednesday, feel much more like october and we'll enjoy nice fall weather for the rest of the week. right now, their's storm tracker radar showing this

showers moving more north than east. we got a couple: you can see we got demascus, you got pretty heavy showers right there. closer to baltimore you got a few more, much more organized, with pockets of heavy rain as you get back into portions of loudoun county and from the 81 corridor drawing a line from winchester down through warrington and into the culpeper chartsville, in fact, charlottesville probably the last of the steady rain move throughs. some gusty winds associated with rain can make it feel like you got a thunderstorm outside. so we haven't seen any lightening on radar, i don't expect to see lightening 73 in dc right now. it's nice and mild. we've had a good push out of the south with winds all day, we're still seeing wind gustses in excess of 20 to 25. wind advisories rails in effect. slight risk of severe weather confined to the south, it's a marg

i don't think we'll see anything except for brief heavy rain and downpours moves through, the line should be weakening as it approaches the dc metro during the overnight hour, from about 2:00 to 5:00 a.m. count on rain in spots. briefly heavy certainly possible. before we'll begin to clear out quickly. 8:00 a.m. east of 95. left over clouds and drizzle breaking out into the sunshine, west of town and will continue to clear out. we'll see a decent amount of sunshine in the afternoon, beautiful looking day but probably still breezy. count on those gusts over 20 miles an hour at times. mild air hangs on one more day, we'll see highs in 50-50s in western virginia and western pennsylvania. wednesday that will arrive here. overnight. gusty showers. it's probably a rumble of thunder. still mild tomorrow, 76, that early shower giving way to afternoon sunshine. look at those temps tumble wednesday,
