when you can see the camera start to shake. in montgomery county, a battle continues tonight between big business and an historically african-american burial ground in the spotlight. members of mass don't a baptist church in bethesda led a rally protesting plans to put a park ing garage on top of the cemetery which has been quoferred over with a parking lot. evan lambert spoke with the group tonight. >>reporter: this used to be a cemetery in the late 1800s for african-americans. some of the people buried here were freed slaves. right now you can see it is a parking lot and that church group they are trying to get the fact that there's going to be a parking garage here in the plan, they want that stopped because they don't want this covered twice. the group lead by members of mass don't a baptist church marched from the church's site off river road to the former cemetery which is now a parking lot across from the

protestors say they've been successfully been able to push back development plans for a year but they want to make sure the developer doesn't move forward with the project to build a parking garage here. it's part of a larger development project in this area . the group says when then apartment building went up in the 1960s the black cemetery was covered over. now the church members say they don't want to see the land the cemetery saturday on be obscured a second time. from the stories that have been reported that the -- when they were doing savings for these parking lots they uncovered human remains and then there's also reports that a bulldozer pushed them down to the end of this property. we have an incredible amount of people here who just really do not want to see a december crest ation of an after frik and burial ground and so we've

>> this is fox # local news at ten. we have several breaking news stories we're following at the half of the hour here. in prince george's county investigators confirm an officer -involved shooting on the 5,000 block of newton treet. the officer involved is with with the bladessance ^berg city department. we're also following breaking news oversees , the death toll in the powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake along the borders of iran and iraq has risen above 140 people. more than 860 were injured in the cake. it was centered about 200 miles north of bagdad along that border and according to reports a number of people were still missing buried in rubble after buildings collapsed. within the past hour , the us geological survey reports another quake, a 6

near its capital. so far no reports of injuries or damages. we'll get some more news and upgrades dates as the hour progresses. the search continue s for a missing northern virginia woman. catherine hey walled went missing three days ago. she was last seen in arlg tofnlt today her family, friends and community came together to canvas the area and neighborhoods surrounding where she went missing in hopes of finding information about her whereabouts. fox5's teisha lewis reports. >>reporter: 28 year old catherine kate hey walled is considered a critical missing person. we're told she has a medical condition that requires treatment that she's been without since she vanished from her home. this is st. agnes catholic like school this is where my sister did her schooling before going to york town. the pastor and everything just said please use our school because we need the venue. we need the room and this is

>> thank you, gwen. back to you >> we want to head back to that breaking news that we've been telling you about out of prince george's county. investigators confirm an officer-involved shooting in the 5,000 block of newton street. fox5's lindsay watts joins us live now from the scene. lindsay? >>reporter: lauren and marina, we got here just a few minutes ago. this is going on at an apartment complex here in bladensburg. you can see a very large police presence, prince george's county as well as bladensburg investigators. i talked to the bladensburg police chief just a bit ago. he says at around nine:ten tonight officers got a call with a man with a gun. police responded and they encountered the man. something happened, it's not clear exactly what happened between that man and the officer s, an officer ended up shooting the suspect. he was an adult male, shot in the lower body, transported to the hospital and right now he is in critical condition. the police chief says it's unknown if

>> fairfax county police need your help tonight to find a man undergoing treatment at reston hospital. they believe he suffered some type of medical emergency and he's in serious condition. they have not provided a photo but they say that he was found unconscious on the washington and old dominion trail yesterday afternoon. the man did not have identification on him, but police are hoping that a friend or a family member contacts them and if you know anything about it, please give them a call. this d.c. man is under arrest tonight accused of ramming two fairfax county police cruisers. the officers noticed edward butler speeding and driving recklessly yesterday afternoon. they tried to pull him over, but he kept driving. during the pursuit police say butler drove against traffic and crashed into yet another cruiser . he was eventually ar rested and tonight he's being held on no bond. a maryland state trooper is recovering after he was hit by an alleged drunk driver. this all

around yesterday morning at aten town road. trooper angel or advertise was responding to a crash he was sitting in his patrol car when he was hit another car. he was taken to the hospital for treatment. to the latest now in the russia investigation and word that form er national security advisor michael flynn and his son may have been involved in a plt to kidnap a turkish opposition leader living in the united states. we hear more from fox's garret ten any. >>reporter: special counsel robert mueller now has allegations that michael flynn was involved in a kid napping plot. they are looking into at least two meetings he held with tush issuing officials the first place in september of last year and the second came after michael flynn had been tapped as national security advisor. they discussed a plan to have flynn and

ban teams from the grounds. other changes could also be in store. fox5's brody logan reports. it's one of the cool est things about living in d.c., getting to play sports in the shadow of things like the washington monument, but if a proposal from the national park service goes through that will be no more. previously sports teams and lesion were able to take up space on the national mall around the washington monument in this area for as low as seven dollars per game to play games. after the grounds were tilled up by all the playing from various games, the national park service has said no more. they actually had to close this area right here around the washington monument and through 2018 there will be no more sports here because of all the work they had to do to those grounds. and if you want to take a permit you're going to have to get a permit now for sports on the national mall. it's going to cost

registration fee for one hour up to 70-dollars per game for two hours of play. there are a lot of lesion that do sports out here. d.c. kick ball, disog sports, various others. i reached out to them for comment they have not gotten back to us with any kind of comment with what they think. they charge league fees over a hundred dollars sometimes and that's only for a handful of games. it's interesting to note that they were collecting those fees but only paying seven dollars per game. this is because the registration and everything to play on these grounds has shifted to the national park service from the washington d.c. and they are taking comments starting next week as early asman you can go to the national park service and give them comment if you think they should pass this resolution and if you deent agree with it give them a comment. maybe you'll be able to save some money next time you want to play at the national mall. at the national mall, brody logan a, fox5 local news. >> it is beginning to look like a lot like

news at 11. and we girch this hour with breaking news in prince george's county. investigators confirm an officer -involved shooting. it happened in the bladessance bugger area in the 5,000 block of newton streets. fox5's lindsay watts joins us live with the latest from the scene. >>reporter: police say this all started when they got a call earlier tonight about a man with a gun. you can see this police investigation that is now underway. this is the bladen wood apartment community. so it was just after nine tonight police got that call and the bladensburg police chief says when his officers responded they encountered that man and then one \officer\officer a{^}en ended up shooting him. the chief says what exactly led up to that is still under investigation. he tells me the suspect was shot in the lower body. he did survive and he is now in why it california condition at the hospital. i asked the chief if that suspect shot at officers. he couldn't tell me for
