put them on our door to influence us they did the wrong thing. >> well, this is the thing think did. take a look at this security video. these are the two suspects that police are looking for. this was about 9:55 on saturday night them. know that from the time stamp on security video. those two individuals not only tagged this they tagged this mailbox nearby. now, they walked to that mailbox and they blasterred this door and they walked back to this spot at one point later on and and cellphone video of what they have done. we talked to montgomery country police about that and they say at this point the statute for a hate crime both in state federal level and does not rise to the that. they are investigating this and this is vandalism and is not the joke they say this is a crime. >> it certainly always helpful to have surveillance video and

with what she called a rat walk and her efforts to combat the problem. now mayor bowser introduced solar trash cans and also introduced a waste compact tore lease program up to 60 business in the area can either buy or lease waste compacttores and we talk part of the walk with the mayor through the district. we didn't see any rats. almost immediately we saw a violation trash everywhere, coming out of this dumpster. this was message that mayor bowser had for the owners. ur message to business owner we need you to be responsible and know what the rules and and i'm assuming this business owner knows that and once these bins are overflowing we're in vie aetion and it probably means they need more frequent pickups at this location. and it may also mean and the reason i asked about these gates, i want to make sure that these are the

think will be a fairly quiet workweek with one or two notable exceptions later this week. 53 was the high temperature reagan national and dulles and bwi 50. check of temperatures now would knock too much of the mark 50 in the district. frederick 46. martinsburg and hagerstown and winchester right there as well. that's a popular number tonight. annapolis 48 and baltimore 47 and winds out of the north keeping us cool. they are muc lighter, so clearing skies and north winds mean we will likely have a pretty chilly night with temperatures falling into the 30s overnight. in the short term, if you're heading out around 7:00 not bad at all. 49. by 9:00, down to 47 and by 11:00, 46. a little cooler than average for this time of year and again it's dry and cool. most of the week. that's our big weather headline. any chance of showers we have maybe early on thursday. saturday, looks a little bit like a dicey day and then much colder air blasts io

smrv checking head lines surveillance of people involved in a bat attack in the district this happened friday morning 1700 block of 7th street northwest near d.c. shaw neighborhood people attacked a man one wielding a bat. after the attack the suspects fled the scene in a gray car. >> two people in northern virginia under arest in connection with a toddler. chad richie is charged with second degree murder while the child's mother tab i that zimmerman faces charge of cruelty to children and on wednesday they responded to report of 22-month-old child in cardiac arrest in front royal virginia the child later tie eyed at the hospital and second toddlered in the home was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. >> and police in winchester virginia were looking for a man

store this morning and took money out of the cash register. the man had a taser on him and actually used that taser on the store clerk when the clerk at first deposit turn the money over to that man. >> d.c. police are investigating a robbery and sexual assault that took place early saturday morning across from campus of gallaudet university. >> spen street northeast paul wagner is on the scene. >> jim, sarah, i'm in the trinidad section of city and that's west virginia right behind me and just beyond that the campus of gallaudet university. the way police tell it in police report is around:30 saturday morning a woman was caulking up penn street here in northeast washington and a man came up from behind and he pulled her cellphone out of her pocket and then he forced her into this alley right here across the street. and let's show you video that we shot of the alleys a little while ago. according to the police report,

had a hand gun, forced the woman to perform a sexual act and then he raped her. and they he robbed her of that phone. and there's no video that we're aware of at this point that shows the suspect although we under the police were in the area looking for video that might help. but at this point nothing has been put out and the description of the attacker is very, very vague and at this point, we did check with gallaudet university to see if perhaps they will put out alert to students here at the campus. and we have not heard back if gallaudet at this point. and we did look at the crime mapping for this neighborhood and over the last year mur murders, sexual assaults and robberies are all up when compared to the same time last year. there have been three murders and five sex assaults and 11 robberies with a gun just in this very small vicinity here in the section of trinidad.

"fox5" gary mcgrady has more. >> okay so guys listen up i've been in a lot of creepy stories here one i'm in the yale the old lorton prison and it's been here a long time has not housed prisoners since 2 2000 or so they're not going to get rid of it they're making it a development here. i want to bring in jack perkins with elm street development. it's kind of your vision on what you will do with this prison and it's really kind of a cool community you're creating out here. >> we're very excited to be creating a new vibrant mixed use community and adaptatively reusing these prison buildings and historic structures and new ways for office and retail and restaurant and apartments

and town homes and it's exciting time in fairfax county and fairfax country is our partner on the project long with alexander. we're in old prison and we have bars and cells and i know you already worked on some apartment as long the way and there's single family houses going up here as well. what are are the plans dwhash do you do with something like this how much do you keep intact and what's the plan. >> you have to be very creative. it takes a real creative team to have the vision to take a piece of of property like this and turn it into something new and exciting. some of the historic fabric some of the cells would be retained for historic purposes for interpretive use. most would be converted into new office space, new restaurant and retail spaces. >> we'll share pictures of apartments already in place here. they're renting quite well leasing going like gang busters. >> they started leasing this summer and of the 16

i want to show you video now. police released this surveillance video an you can see the silver sedan. police think it's a neeson. it looks like the person is trying to park. but you can see the car does not stop. it hits the building and then backs up slowly for a time and eventually that car drives away. police at this point don't know if it was an accident or perhaps was untensional. and sky fox was overhead soon after this crash and captured the damage. back here liver now police are not putting out the license plate information but management here says they have it and they checked staingz and say the car is not associated with this apartment community. so at this point it's anybody's guess who this person was and why they did this and why they did not stop. if you have any information about the car contact prince george county police. live in landover. lindsey watts, "fox5 local news". >> also new tonight cameras were roll when flyers attributed to
