chase. now manhunt is now underway on wheeler road near barnaby terrace. fox5 fosses bob gnash barnard life on the scene. he jones us with all the det details. bob? >> reporter: hey, wisdom, good morning. this is where the car ended up on its side here in this strip mall parking lot. you can see what's left. there's a lot of shattered glass and scattered car parts here this morning. show you some video tape from when we got here just before dawn. this happened around 5:30 this morning. this car ending up here in the 4900 block of wheeler road southeast. not far from southern avenue. it was a kia with new jersey license plates. the car apparently had been reported to police as having a driver with a gun someone reported the driver had gun and so police found the car. not far from here roughly the 1100 block of barnaby street and gave pursuit. during the pursuit, one of the m p pd cruisers was hit sustaining minor damage we're told. then the car came into this

yellow poles that supposed to keep cars from hitting the building which it did. the car flipped on its side and the driver took off. so police then reported this as a man who fled this accident with a gun in the neighborhood. not sure what this was all about. whether the car was stolen or not. nobody was hurt. not the guy driving this car. nor the police officer who was in his cruiser who got struck, and at this point, it's stale mystery. what this was all about. although there's lot of evidence of what happened here this morning still on the parking lot of this strip mall that they're attempting to clean up right now. guys. >> bob with the details this morning. thank you for that. all right. let's send it over to holly. >> thanks maureen let's check the morning briefing now. first up attorney general jeff sessions on capitol hill and in the hot seat. he is set to face questions from the house judiciary committee about his knowledge of any possible collusion between the president's campaign and russia. he has already testified on the subject three other times.

documents indicates sessions was told of at least two aids meeting with russian officials. now last month, sessions said he didn't know of any such mee meetings. meanwhile, sessions is asking federal prosecutors if a special counsel is needed to investigate alleged ties between the clinton foundation and the sale of urayou're rain numb company that deal was made in 2010 while hillary clinton was secretary of state. the sale to a russia energy agency is already being investigated by house republicans. isn't investors in the deal had close ties to former president bill clinton hadn't donatedlion. another new twist in the russia investigation. the atlantic magazine says donald trump, jr., and wikileaks he can changed secret e-mails for then months during the presidential election and continuing until just months ago. now during some of the correspondence wick key leak warn the president's son about the launch of an anti trump political action committee

z2kqoz z16fz y2kqoy y16fy ♪ new health alert this morning. high blood pressure is now more common in the united states thanks to a guideline change. for the first time in 14 years the american heart association and other experts are lowering the threshold for hypertension. holly morris has a break down of these new rules for hell in today's health report. >> have i to say i'm questioning myself. i don't remember what my numbers were the last time high my blood pressure taken but now i'm inquisitive because there are new guidelines that came out today it means now that nearly half a adults in the united states are considered to

high blood pressure. high blood pressure increases the risk of heart disease and strokes and sometimes called the silent killer because many people who have high blood pressure don't even know they have it. >> a health alert from heart experts. new lower threshold for hypertension means about half of all us adults are now considered to have high blood pressure. >> half of all adults, yeah, that's the sad truth. >> this under new research driven guidelines that medical experts call more honest. announced at an american heart association conference this week and published in two medical journals. the definition of hypertension is now changed from blood pressure of 140 over 90 to now 130 over 80. >> high blood pressure is now considered, um, to be a systolic blood pressure between 130 and 139 and dial toll lick between 80 and 89. >> the change is tripling the number of men under 45 and doubling the number of women under

high blood pressure. in all the change will add some 30 million americans to those who have the condition. >> that's a very common problem, and it is an important risk and it is something that we can do lot about. we know what to do. >> reporter: health officials say the tight guidelines from us heart organizations will mean will millions more people will need to make lifestyle changes or start taking medication in order to avoid cardiovascular problems. >> and doctors hope that with these new numbers people will catch high blood pressure early and will address it through lifestyle changes like losing weight, improving your diet, consuming less alcohol and lowering stress. >> we talked to dr. mike about it earlier. we asked him, does this -- is this a concern that it will just push more people on medication. >> right. >> may not have needed it before. >> exactly. >> if you went in yesterday and you were in the safe zone today you didn't do anything different and now your high blood pressure. the hope to be able to have those conversations with people now at an earlier point to

just, you know, not just navy seals or special operations forces. this is like just the regular guys and what they did and how they a dapped that day going in as they will all say unprepared thinking it was a peace keeping mission and just rose to that occasion with such courage and sacrifice. >> martha you talk about wanting to get it right, and there's a big deference between telling a story, a real story in book and now, you know, having this scripted series and bringing it to life and the need for it to be entertaining yet truthful at the same time. how hard was that and i also wanted to ask you about the decision to make the series be the same am of time that the soldiers were pinned down because i think that's incredibly thought provoking. >> well, i think one of the things, you'll completely understand this because you're in television, when this ambush happened and i started covering it, and writing about it, we had no video of ts

we had not this ambush much it's a surprise and you don't know it's going to happen but when i immediately started interviewing or, you know, after the battle as soon as the guys could talk about it, and getting those descriptions and getting, you know, i hear lines in the series that i remember them telling me exactly after i interviewed them about the battle what happened and seeing those descriptions come to life on film it's pretty remarkable. so i think that's been really great to see how well it is the truth of what happened and i, you know, the soldiers we had consultants looking at that and they, you know, they really depicted it in a perfect way and holly what was your second question? i now understand when we ask three-part questions. >> right. it's had ard to remember them all. i talk about how the length of the series is the exact same amount of time that the soldiers were pinned down.

>> yeah, yeah. great question. i think person who did the screen writing it seem perfect from sort of beginning to end it was about an eight-hour period. so that's what he really wanted to capture. we tried to do that in the book. but certainly do you it very different way and just concentrating on that one day, um, but that and flashing back to see the stories of these soldiers, the stories of these families which is very different going back and forth eight hours is perfect and from a different point of view from every character including the iraqi interpreter. >> you've done so much in your career and yet ten year ago when this -- about ten years or so ago when this book came out you said this was the most significant work you've ever done. do you still feel that same way a decade later? >> i do so even more. i mean, it sort of pales in comparison, everything else sort ofal

things i've done as you probably know i've continued to cover conflicts around the world but i know these families. i know these soldiers. i visited the grave of one of those brave soldiers at arlington national cemetery last week with one of the soldiers from the unit. a couple of toll soldiers from the unit. that's pretty profound stuff. you don't forget that. you know that people continue to have a gap in their life. continue, um, to miss that soldier in their family and the wounded are still wounded, um, there are a lot of people still struggling with ptsd who struggle every day but rise to that challenge as well and want to live their lives to the fullest. so seeing that and knowing these guys and knowing these families, um, it's very powerful. i was just texting with gina on tonight's episode and profi

it has all the touchings of a seth rogen production here. it seems like the kind of thing you guys probably had lot of fun actually doing the show. >> oh, yeah. it's a team that has collect brat broughted together before and they're all just so funny and so smart and we have this freedom because everybody you know trusts these guys now to sort of go wildly through all these differ styles of comedy and to incorporate all these sort of dimension noose it because the characters are aware of the sci-fi we're poking fun at with back to the future and last star fighter to name a few. so yeah just a real fun environment to be on and we travel through time and my characters takes five different forms. that's also fun. >> it's got to be fun to be able to drop all those references the sci-fi references because you know everybody is getting any little nuance you put in there. but it also has to be fun just working with people that you know you cannot just goof around with but it seems like adlib with, play off each other. are we sck

or going multiple takes with multiple different line that is are spoken? >> there's some adlibbing but a lot of it is done by committee with onset with the writers and everything because the plot is so specific. we really have to keep things tight and economical. so the scripts you know by the table read are in pretty much finish form and hilarious when we read them for the first time. so, yeah, the -- any improvisation everything is done with the subtle tell tease of the scene witness action. >> it's funny hail whole we talk tooted actors all the time depend on the role as to how in depth the research gets. literal al few minutes ago aaron sorkin was in our studio and we were talking as far as the doing the deep dive into character development and everything else. for you playing a doctor in this did we do any of let's make this as funny as we possibly can? >> comedy is definitely the first order, but, um, i guess it depends on the role. with this one a lot of my

into the sciences so i'm familiar with their labs. i have friend that work at berkeley i was hanging outer there watching him work in the lab last summer. i'm familiar with the environment. where we actually shot the pilot was really easy to get into character because it was a disused medical facility that still had all the equipment. >> wow. >> vials of blood and things. things i can believe we're still walking a round this stuff. >> right. >> scientists just left all their gear there. but, yeah, as time goes on, then you kind of, you know, the character goes into this really disston january place the rules of reality don't apply. >> you're like can we check the expiration dates on any of these things we're around them all the time in the lab. when you first read through that script, obviously it's one of the most famous plot twists at the end of that movie. what was your reaction when you first learned of that twist and did you know it on first read? sure. yeah, it was evident in the script. it's kind of amazing that, you know, i read it in 1998 the film didn't come out until august the following year, and just people didn't spoil the plot widely. a lot of people went into the theater not knowing the twist at the end and i think the movie the sort of success that it was based on that sort of secrecy that almost be impossible now. >> right. >> with twitter and everything. so all of us on that set knew that we very special script we were working with and just, you know, needed to stay out of the way of it and just do our jobs and the result would be really special. >> haley -- >> it's fond memory. >> been a great memory for all of us too. i was you some to get a chance to talk with you i wish the best of luck with the new show and everything else you're working on. thanks haley. >> nice talking to you. take car
