exclusively with fox 5 about the harrowing ordeal >> cloud rolling in rain in our forecast, i'll let you know how long it lasts. plus, call of duty controversy. the disturbing images that are sparking outrage about the newest version of the popular video game. the news at 10:00 starts right n now. we begin tonight with breaking news, a police involve shooting in alexandria >> it happened before 8:00 and ended with crash at alexandria avenue. fox 5 evan lambert is live. evan, what can you tell us? >> reporter: shawn, that is the intersection where we are right now, i'm going to step out of the way so you can see what's going on behind me, a very active scene here where we're being told that there are multiple reports that there were some kind of police pursuit involving u.s. park police. it ended at this intersection with a crash. and you can see officers are

personally blocking but there is an suv that is partially overturned into a ditch there. just behind us. it is unclear right now about any injuries. we do know from park police that no officers were injured, but we also know that this is an officer involved shooting, shots were fired. we don't know if the suspect and the officers were firing at each other, if there was an exchange of gunfire, we do know that during this incident, tonight, there was shots fired. so this is again, according to park police an officer involved shooting. it's unclear if the suspect was injured. it appears to be the suspect's vehicle overturned here. again, officers not injured. there is a spokesman for the park police that should be arriving on scene any minute now and we expect to have updates. we'll have an update at 10:30, and at 11:00. for now, live in fairfax

alexandria section of fairfax county, evan lambert, fox 5 local news. vibrating and shaking, quite intensely. and then just, you know, smoke started billowing up inside the cockpit. >> pilot crash landed his airplane right here on the off-ramp of i 97 near annapolis in the middle of rush hour. christopher curry had his two young son when is he experience add mid air emergency, he's sharing his story exclusively with fox 5, cori coffin sat down with him. he's got an incredible story to tell. >> reporter: it was difficult to leave him tonight because it was just so fascinating to hear all about how that night went and how his week has been so far. he tells us he actually took off from here, from tipton airport, it's a popular air field for private pilots, curry has taken off from here several times and he tells me he'

experienced pilot. he's had his pilot license since 19, it's safe to say he's got a lot of experience in the air. last friday, he was taking his two son whose are four and eight up for a flight to be able to see the foliage because they got out of schedule early. it was about 40 minutes into the flight when things began to go wrong, curry noticed a slight shoulder in the compartment, as headed back, it started vibrating violently. the cabin began to fill with smoke, he's 14 miles from the airport, curry knew that the plane would not go that far at that altitude he had to improvise >> the trees and the highway. the trees, the airplane kind of probably break apart and crumble up. >> i got my air speeds, make sure i don't fall out of the sky, i'm looking and see an off-ramp that had just the right amount of areas that i need to put the plane

we would be knocked out cold. come out of the bend and hit us. kind of had my instinctive parental arm. the boys were ok, and they're ok, they're not crying, they don't seem completely freaked out. we did a little, hey, we're alive. >> reporter: in avoiding any of those cars, curry clip add height poll an guardrail which ended up whipping them around and tore off the wings of the plane but the cockpit remained in tact which, of course, kept them safe. all of this while he talks to his 8-year-old son through the whole process to keep him calm and while his four-year-old is left in the back. needless to say, they're thankful to be alive. also thankful to all the people who came to their aid and gave their sons jackets. he tells me that the faa is still investigating what exactly went wrong

the first incident happened on november 9th. a student says she was walking on keith street in temple hills when a man in a before a car exposed himself. the next incident happened one week later along 23rd parkway. that victim also says the man was in a gray car. both of the victims are students. police say they put a stop to a human trafficking operation in maryland. kevin joseph was charged with multiple counts of human trafficking and prostitution he received a tip that prostitution was taking place. undercover detectives went and found two women, officers then arrested joseph. 30 years in prison, a judge today sentenced duane johnson for the brutal murder of a dc yoga instructor. he admitted to raping and strangling tricia mccully on christmas day. fi
