possible depending on recounts we could have 50 meaning even, 50-50 or possibly even 51 or 52, we could have the majority which democrats haven't had since 2000. it's a really exciting time, and because the committee membership is proportional, democrats will have more power in virginia than decades >> we still have time, governor elect northam is putting together his cabinet but you mentions those races too. when you look at the political climate, a lot of attention was paid to danicka rome being elected, a ground breaking election, what was the message that virginia voters was trying -- was trying to send as a whole do you believe >> i think the message was they won't want socially divisive issues, they won't want which is what frankly the republicans did, gillespie put it one virginians against another. they care about the economy and healthcare and education. they want the people educated. they want our environment to do well.

they don't want us dividing one against the other, like danicka, she ran on transportation, on helping fix route 28 in other own locality, we ran on local issues, the economy, i think the repub republicans abused their power a little bit. a lot of these divisive issues that i don't think people really care about were pushed on our throats against, forcing the governor, they revoid a vote sanctuary cities, to try and make ralph northam take a standing they care about transportation and education and economic development, they care about healthcare, they care about making sure that made a is expanded so we all have affordable healthcare, we're not giving away $10 billion, if you want to ask the single most parent question i would say for this assembly is

expansion. it's making sure what we virginians already made rather than sending it all. >> we were talking a lot and anthony the roy moore situation came along, do you think that the conversation has changed anne a national level or when you mentioned danica, politics stay local? >> well, i do think there was a national element to the virginia election, no doubt that if donald trump were not president of the united states we would not have done as well as we did two weeks ago. i think at the end of the day, voters are looking for what we can do locally. we each represent a district. i'm proud, that's my district in fairfax county, i keep the map on my wall. my

for them. danica ran on transporting, her opponent kept trying to bring up her gender identity, we don't care so much gender identity, so roy moore, again is about divisive politics, about attacking people for being different, he, of course, has his own issues regarding his past with some very young girls. but i think people don't want to go over who -- who roy moore molested >> allegedly. we still got to point that out. i got about >> my point is i think economic development should be the focus and growth and transportation and education and healthcare. the single issue that was chosen by most virginians care most about is healthcare. and we can provide affordable care, it's already in the law. all we have to do is accept the tax money that we're throwing away >> you work
