investigators in annapolis are still trying to figure out what caused early morning fire that destroyed dozens every condominiums along the water, several people out of their homes, and millions of dollars of damage left behind. >> angry hemphill has the story tonight. >> people positive live in this serene waterfront condo building went to sleep thanksgiving night never expect to go wake up to fast moving flames that left them homeless over the holidays. >> it is devastating. never think it is going to happen in your own neighborhood. >> firefighters still dousing hot spots and smoldering personal possessions, several hours after a fire swept through dozens of condos in the water side community of sovereign house. twenty-two unit were destroyed in a fire that investigators say started on the second floor. just before 1:00 in the morning friday. flames and smoke quickly spread throughout the

building. >> one firefighter and resident taken to the hospital but were not badly hurt thanks to working smoke alarms. >> the actual fire apartment, those occupants were alert today smoke alarms, some of the occupants were obviously alerted by the noise, and others went door-to-door knocking making sure everybody got out safely. >> during the holiday season it, seems like fire seemed little more devastating. >> the building now being boarded up, and it is unclear exactly how many residents were displaced, as some of the units are not occupied all year long, but the red cross is a is discussing with anyone who may need help. fox5 local news. and, still no word yet on what caused a deadly house fire in prince george's county. an elderly woman was killed when fire swept through her home on will burn drive, the fire broke out shortly after 3:00 this morning, and when firefighters got there, elaine james was trapped on the first floor.

died at the hospital. her son escaped the flames, and was treated for smoke inhalation, two firefighters suffered burns and are recovering tonight. police are looking for a suspect who tried to burn down a city holiday tree. it happened early thanksgiving morning, in hopewell, virginia, and while the search continues, city officials say a planned celebration will still go on. witnesses are telling police they saw a man with a small jar of gas, purposely set the tree on fire. the damage is minimal, but the fire ruined the wiring for the entire display. >> meanwhile, police are investigating possible hate crime in georgetown, investigators found some graffiti spray painted at the corner of 26th and p streets. you can see it right there. they're not sure when it happened, but you get a sense ge police want anyone with information to give them a call. meanwhile, a heads-up for metro riders who take the red lion. starting tomorrow, red lion trains will not operate between silver spring in the tacoma s
