least two officers on administrative leave after this photo surveillance staffed. the officers patrol arlington national cemetery and the picture appears to show group of police officers laughing while they pretend to beat a fellow officer. that photo was taken on thanksgiving day. not surprising -- surprisingly creating a fire storm online not surprisingly rather way lot of people outraged and calling the pictures unprofessional. >> prom add response from officials at joint base meyer henderson hall. melanie alnwick is live at arlington cemetery just off base with more. mel g morning. >> reporter: good morning gu guys. so the agency in question is the joint base meyer henderson hall police force and, yes, this has now launched an internal investigation into the circumstances of the photograph and that agency it's a civilian agency but do work for the military patrolling not only the base but the grounds here at arlington national cemetery and that is where this photo was taken. part of the reason why it's causing so much outrage. let's show you theic

we've blurred the faces because the base has not said that these officers violated any policies. although as we said that's under investigation. the photo appears to show officers smiling and laughing holding batons and pepper spray. while another officer is on his knees as if he's the subject of police violence. that officer in the unblurred photo also appears to be giving the middle finger. it's he will eliciting a lot of negative reaction to people who see it. >> to me it's childish. it's immature. it's unprofessional. it just -- it gives the police a bad wrap. like worse than what they already have it gives them a worse wrap. >> i don't think it's funny. that's what i think. >> well i don't think it's appropriate especially at arlington and especially it looks like mostly white guys beating a black guy. i don't find that appropriate or funny

security fine. >> okay. >> back to you. >> all right. thanks a lot. the holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and happiness, right, but for some people it can be a time of year when depression strikes or others it gets worse. depression effects 16 millionmin this morning we're talking about ways to manage and treat seasonal depression with the pioneer in the field. joining us now live in the lot of board certified psychiatrist dr. steven lee 15. good morning to you. this is really important because i think around this time of year we feel like we have to be joyous with family and friends and should be be depressed but it's common. >> lot of pressure this time of year to be happy and celebrate the season, but depression is incredibly common. 16 million americans every year suffer from depression. and it peaks during this season for many reasons. >> how do you know that you're depressed and it's just not something more serious? or you know kind of wait for me, regular depression and then something more serious you should be concerned about? >> clinical depression is very different than simply being

out. many people get sad, off bad day. typically the next day is a better one hopefully. with depression, it's a bad day that doesn't end. it's weeks at least of persistent sadness, crying, changes in appetite. changes in sleep. thoughts of suicide. so a very serious condition that can be life-threatening. >> so when i hear that i'm thinking most people say you're something is chemically off with you. is that really what's going on here? >> there's an old theory of depression which was that chemical imbalance theory. newer research shows us that that's probably not true. >> not true. >> not true. instead, there is damage that happens in the brain. you lose the number and function and quality of connections between important areas of the brain, and research on med sane called keto mean is actually showing us that it's possible to reverse that damage much more quickly than we've been able to do in the past with older medicines. >> this damage, something a trauma you experienced you hit your head? what would cause that because this is ground-breaking for me to hear i thought for shoe it was a chemic b

something that you -- trauma you had gone through. >> trauma can cause that. long standing stress in various ways can cause that. but when we look at pictures of people's brains who suffered from depression for a long time, we can see these changes. >> wow. when you said that, what struck me almost like cte when you're studying their brains and they see the damage done it to. i know it's not thon scale but certainly something is going on here and you're pioneering the study of this. >> so in neuro therapy we focus on the use of med scenes like keto mean which can be given quickly as procedure through a vein in your arm and different than the medicines like prozac or paxil you take medicines every day and it can take weeks to months to see if they work. with medicine like keto mean you can feel significantly better win hours of a first exposure. >> is this something that children can take? >> or is it reserved for adults? >> right now it's mostly reserved for adults. we treat people 18 and up. >> okay. >> we've made a few compassionate exceptions for youngsters under8

get hacked now are we going to find the about it during the holidays or months down the road when we find out what happened. >> typically when you get hacked your dent at the time gets stolen your credit card information gets taken it's usually not used for two or three months later. you think you're having a good holiday season, february, march you realize you got yourself in lot of trouble. >> will the bad guys and you say on the tile of your back the evil side of the internet will the bad guys typically strike more during the holidays when they know that we might be using our credit cards more often? >> absolutely. it's not only that we're using our credit cards more often, but they love emotion. everyone is very emotional about finding that perfect gift. so imagine you go to google you put in a search term and you find that gift you wanted for 80% off. you want it so bad you click on the link. not realizing it's malicious and right there one click is all it takes and you're compromised. >> they're getting us from the start by planning fake ads and everything else on there as well. >> exactly. >> not just people that are tapping in and taking those numbers. like they legit mal drawing us

we feel safe enough to give them willingly our information? >> exactly. most of the attacks are set ups where their positioning you s sending an e-mail send i was text getting to give information. the back end of the stealing of the credit cards is a lot harder. much easier to target the consumer if. >> if we're willingly giving it because we feel like we got a good sale how do we not get caught in that trap. a couple things is when you're searching and you're looking for that perfect gift, use your phone, not your computer. and the reason is most of the hacks out there today are far debted for windows. so if you're using a windows computer, the probability of compromise is huge. you use your iphone a lot less rruns and you're a lot mr. contained. >> evident during. how about in general whether we're going into that rogue website or legit website and somebody steals the information we hear about this every day on the news somebody steals information. what do we do to best be careful in these situations

where it's going to happen at some point we want to try to lower that risk. >> so first is, be discipline, stick witness big sites. stick with the main sites, don't go off on a tangent looking for that 10% or 20% off. they are more likely to be dangerous, also be really careful of apps. most of them are built in russia and have back doors built in. and then finally, assume the probability of compromise is high. so one thing i recognize is in january, go in and get new credit cards. say that my credit cards has been stolen get a new credit card and now by the time the anniversary uses it's already expired. >> when you talk about the apps purchasing through apps better off not to do that to purchase things through maybe more secure browser? >> exactly more secure browser or stay away from those one off apps. i don't know about you but most of my friends you look at their phone, they have 60 or 70 apps that they use, never use. get riffed the apps if you're not using it. because many of them are spying on us and we don't reali

talk bout inevitable when it happens i had this happen to me this year sure it's eyes see to call the credit card and say stepped me a new card you have to go through every account you have linked to it and contact them and change things up awed good strategy for rung multiple credit cards. >> yes. the whole way you deal with cyber security you never going to stop it. minimize your risk. segment your life. so i have seven credit cards. i use one credit card only for gas. i use one credit card for online purchase. i use one credit card for weekly and monthly purchases. so now when a credit card gets compromising it only impacts one area not all of them. >> good advice. eric before we let you go and i know we can talk to you for hours and hours about this stuff unfortunately we're trying to protect people. public wi-fi use it or not use it? i know when go to the hotel free wi-fi you want to post your social media and everything else or at the mall or any elsewhere. what are the guidelines when it comes to social -- to public wi-fi? >> so when you go to shopping this holiday season, before you leave your house, turn off the

have this initial work with classical music and working hard looking at going to school for opera. then you get signed by disney. >> right. amazing experience performing for him and different people who had been injured in battle, and, you know, it was really unique experience.& so that's my experience with performing for royalty. >> so far. >> maybe there could be another one. >> you never know what will happen in the spring. look now that you've had the chance obviously to have these wonderful opportunities take advantage of them define your career now. the sound is it still a hybrid here? what's the goal from here to the next phase of your life? >> yeah. the sound that i do some of it's classical. some of its more pop so it's definitely a mixture of the two. i like to say that i try to combine the strength of classical and the accessibility of pop music. i guess the verdict is still out. my goal is just to continue to travel the world sing my heart out connect with people through music, and, you know, that's pretty much sums it you. >> you've got the voice for it the holidays the show tonight you'll be spreading the holiday cheer for everybody at the birchmere. >> that's the goal.

grocery store fancy sour cream. took baguette with olive oil and salt. just baked it at 375. about five to seven minutes. pipe a little bit on the bottom. two steps so far. >> yeah. we're already almost there. it looks impressive already. on your little dish with fresh rosemary. >> take fresh herbs take time to think about the presentation a little bit. what we have here some seasonal fruit. from this time of year. and we are going to take a little bit of persimmon, pomegranate not your typical fruit but very seasonal. took a little bit of rosemary, some onion. shallot. place those right on top. >> so you diced all that up and mixed it altogether. >> we did. the important part about all of this is just do a little bit in advance. so the day of the party you can relax, grab yourself a glass of wine you're not running around pulling your hair out getting, you know, frantic about having your guests over. >> can i buy that pre mick idea. >> you can't. it takes just a little bit of

>> exactly. >> and you need a lot of balance to your dish. so we're going to take some chive infused old little over. took olive oil put it in the blender with chives. drizzle that all over. beautiful color and then we'll top it off with a bunch of chives as well. okay. we got some coors sea salt here. put that right on top for little pop of flavor and crunch. you know what, we did it. >> bound appetite. we have the figure toast on sour dough with figures. chive infused old little over. pomegranate and persimmon chris crustini and maple cayenne vinaigrette. it wasn't too overwhelming in terms of the process. >> no sweat. the restaurant anything special going on for the holiday month. >> we got flew out end of the month we are donating a dollar for every glass of champagne piper hot sick we sell to the d.c. central food bank. >> wonderful. >> we are throwing a new year's eve
