let's check the morning briefing. first up this morning, the president's latest push for tax reform he'll be on the hill rallying senate republicans now the senate debate wagon could be the nation's biggest tax overhaul in more than 30 years not certain if there is still enough gop support for it to pass. gop leaders can only afford to lose two votes and right now senator steve danes and ron john and not on board because they say the bill favors large corporations over small businesses that's not the only concern among republicans the senate version of the tax reform bill would cut the us corporate tax rate from 35 to 20% and repeal the affordable care act's individual mandate. the house is already passed its version of the bill. meanwhile, the president's effort already being overshadowed by comments he made yesterday during a ceremony honoring native american veterans. now the feud between donald trump and elizabeth warren is heating up again. >> the reaction is loud and swift after president trump called the senator pocahontas. a name he would mockingly call her during his time on the campaign trail and as you can imagine those comments quickly

>> at a white house event honoring native american war heroes president trump stirring controversy by once again referring to senate elizabeth warren as pocahontas. >> you're very very special people. you were here long before any of us were here, although we have a representative in congress who they say was here long time ago. they call her pocahontas. >> some democrats have called the nickname racist. during the 2016 presidential campaign, trump repeatedly mocked warren for claims she made about being part native american. the massachusetts senator firing back at the president. >> it is deeply unfortunate that the president of the united states cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur. >> questions arose during warren's 2012

was not able to prove definitively she had native american heritage. >> i think what most people find offensive is senator warren lying about her heritage to advance her career. >> in a statement the navajo nation said it did not want to get involved in the on-going feud between the senator and the president. but it also said quote all tribal nations still battle incentive references to our people. the prejudice that native american people face is an unfortunate historical legacy. meanwhile the president was also criticized for holding the ceremony in front of a painting of president andrew jackson who used to be known as the indian killer. >> unfortunately i think this is probably one of those incidents that whatever side you're on you just stay on that side. >> by tomorrow it will be something else. >> exactly. the people who don't like president trump will lash out and people that do will say, look, this is them lashing out. just more divisiveness that continues unfortunately. >> i will say that i honor and respect the office of

i was disappointed in that comment yesterday. i thought it was very incentive and out of place, and just a sad moment if you're looking in as a person who studies even history that these war heroes would be there and that they would be subject to this political babb and forth. just so tollly out of place. i will say that. but you're right. people are going to be like, okay, what's wrong with it? or it was terrible. >> 9:07 our time. the growing list of sexual misconduct scandals in washington multiple women now have come forward with accusations of harassment on the hill. we'll start with alabama senate candidate roy moore. he's back on the offensive speaking out against his acc accusers. last night at a campaign event, moore denied the claims and called them completely false and malicious. the special election is set for december 12th. meanwhile, senator al franken is apologizing for his own sexual misconduct accusations. yesterday he said he is sorry to everyone who counseled on him to be a champion for

apology came on his first day back on the hill after a long thanksgiving break and it was his first public appearance since the allegations against him came out. meanwhile, another staff member for representative john conyers comes forward with accusations of sexual misc misconduct. conyers former deputy chief of staff deanna mayor describes three instances of unwanted touching and advances by the representative. she said she cep quiet because she didn't want to lose her job. conyers stepped down from his position while an ethics committee investigates these claims. this morning d.c. mayor muriel bowser defensing one of her top aids. investigation found that deputy mayor courtney snowden who was a guest on our show show earlier this year there's it video from that used city workers to provide care for her child during the work day. fox5's melanie alnwick has more from the wilson boulevard in northwest. >> reporter: the inspector general's report was obtained by the washington post but confirmed to fox5 by the mayor's office. it involves an

complaint from 2015 where the deputy mayor asked staff to help her out with child care. let's talk about some of the instance that is were reported by the washington post. deputy mayor for greater economic opportunity courtney snowden asked an intern once to take her child to a relative's office in northwest d.c. the intern was paid but the trip did take place during the work day. another instance where she had staff pick up her child at school because they had scheduled a meeting for her during the normal pick up time. and another one where she left her child then eight years old at the office unsipe supervised while she attended a meeting relative was supposed to pink the child in 30 minutes but was late because of car trouble. she also said she never asked anybody to watch the child but the inspector general found that it would be reasonable to assume that people would feel a duty to watch the child because the child was unsupervised. mayor bowser remains supportive of snowden. her communications director telling

mayor has been helping vulnerable citizens reach their fulfill many potential, any issues raised have been addressed and the mayor has full confidence in deputy mayor snowden's ability to deliver for district residents. now there was also a complaint that snowden had some improper meetings with the clients of her former employer that was a pr or lobbying agency. the inspector general's support found no ethics rules were broken during those meetings. at the wilson building, melanie alnwick, fox5 local news. >> meantime in montgomery county, a battle over school boundaries over the school board took steps to relieve school overcrowding redrawing school boundaries to spread out low income students. many parents are not happy. the move does keep neighborhoods together much the policies will be implemented next school year. >> dictionary.com out with the annual word of the year. but was the website throwing shade. at the white house by choosing complicit. we'll have the story coming up a little later. f

second day because of a the threat for scroll cape nick ash. mount agung continues erupting sending plumes of smoke and ash miles into the atmosphere. the last time mount agung erupted was in 1963. that eruption killed more than thousand people. closer to home happening today, family and friends will gather to say their final farewells to baltimore deck sean suiter. second viewing is scheduled for this afternoon at the vaughn green funeral home in randalls town maryland. a funeral for suiter will be held tomorrow. earlier this month suiter was shot in the head the day before he was set to testify before a grand jury on a corrupt squad of officers. there's a $250,000 reward for information leading to an ar arrest. and breaking news today from jerusalem where we've learned how old the tomb of christ is. national geographic announcing this morning that the tomb is about 1700 years old. so that would date back to around 345ad

tomb was opened last year for the first time in centuries. this was for a big restoration project. stone samples were analyzed to come up with the results. national geo graphic is owned by 21st century fox which also owns fox5. predictions of a huge cyber monday well that lived up to their expectations. overnight adobe released data showing online sales yesterday of just under $6.6 billion. now that's up 16 and a half% just from last year cyber monday. this also marks the best online sales day ever in the us and for the first time shoppers using their smart phones and other mobile devices topped those using a desk top commuter. pretty remarkable. finally this morning, new study estimates that pokemon go has racked up more than $7 million in damages. we're talking about car wrecks and injuries. researchers at perdue university say there were more than 37,000 motor vehicle deaths in

this was right around the time that pokemon go came out in 2016. in the game players are supposed to collect digital creatures and add them to their collections although the game was supposed to be made by foot a lot of people also played it at the wheel. therefore researchers surmising this led to all the deaths. so i mean we'll just say you don't text and drive and you don't pokemon go and drive. >> i got to say i remember being in richmond like last year and i had the phone i wasn't driving i had the phone out you can see them around. >> um-hmm. >> and so i was like, oh, there's one. >> this was last year. >> mark was driving. that's when they were saying that all these crashes happened. >> is this still a thing this year? >> i don't know. it's come and gone it feels l like. >> let's hope so. >> a flash in the pan. >> yeah. >> what did you say. >> flash in the pan. >> never mind you. >> never heard that saying. >> i thought you said clash in the pan. is that a group. >> just kidding. over the next couple of days. that will allow our next cold front to come in and bring us slightly cooler air for the end of the week here by thursday and friday our high temperatures will be back in the 50s but until then, late november and it doesn't quite feel like it with temperatures about 10 degrees above normal. 60 ace round here both today and tomorrow. it will be cool tonight if you're going out. it will be dry but overnight lows back in the 40s in the city and plenty of 30s by tomorrow morning if you're outside the beltway keep the nice pattern going here. sunny and mild tomorrow maybe a shower late thursday into friday the weekend will be cooler. but generally comfortable and quiet. no big storms on the horizon which is good news. okay, guys that is weather. maureen i'll toss it back over to you. >> tucker thank you our next guest is a living witness to history and not for just one president but three of them. he's a former white house usher by the name of christopher emery and from 1986 until his exit in march 1994, chris work directly for the reagans, the bushes and the clintons. some of his duties included overseeing white house staff, taking care of the first family's needs

for political and private visitors and much, much more. well now he is spilling the on what happens upstairs at the white house. he just wrote a book called "white house ushers stories from the inside" he joins us live to talk all about it the role of the white house usher how about it's changed over the years. >> good morning to you. >> good morning. >> i fine this so fascinating you 23 years ago was the last time you served in the white house as an usher. >> right. >> why the book now? why did it take so long? >> i've been writing it and rewriting it for 23 years. till i got it right. this book doesn't embarrass any of the first families i work for. there's no headlines will come out of this just a great story about average guy that ended up in the white house and how i got there and what i got to do and who i got to meet. >> but i would imagine that because you served under three presidents i mean usher you're really privy to so much of the first family, the president, their families. like a fly on the wall. >> true. >> having those juicy details i'm sure people approached you to give them as we now say the

been approach time and time again to do that which would have been very lucrative. why not? >> one of the reasons i did an independent publ publishing bece the age doctors talk to me all wanted me to push the envelope. they wanted more detail than i was comfortable in giving i didn't wanted to anything that would embarrass or tarnish the presidency. i just didn't want to go there. not that i have stuff. but this is just a story about day to day live in the white house. the ushers office is the managing office for the executive residents and the staff that work there. we had more access to the president than his own family. >> you're handling almost every facet from something as mundane as flowers, you know, to coordinating the visit there is to the white house. >> right. >> such an important role. and you did this with such dignity, such pride and then it all came to an end pretty unceremoniously under the clinton administration. >> it did. >> are you ready to talk about what happened there and really how it sort of that my opinion started changing the role of what an usher does in the white house. >> it did. i believe it did. er

called exiled appropriately and it's about mrs. clinton firing me from the job of course i loved and expected to be there for my entire career. in fairness to mrs. clinton i think there's a lot of pressures going on to them, and i don't know that they were making the best decisions. >> she fired you basically because she thought you were more loyal to the bushes than you were to her and you talk about how, upping, the clinton family they were very private and i think suspicious of a lot of people she for some reason thought you weren't loyal and that's why you had together. >> that's basically it. that's too bad. nothing further from the case. i mean, the ushers are loyal to the white house. to the presidency. not one president but to all of them. >> right. >> over time the ushers have been one administration to another. >> right. >> it wasn't as if president came in and brought their own but after you were fired it seems to me that that started changing. >> i think the office changed a little bit from what i i understand from those in it it became more of almost a concierge type of service not so mu

and first lady. so it did kind of -- they kind of removed it a little bit. remove the ushers from the personal side as much as possible. >> how does that change then the job of the usher because to me in having that continuity there's a level of tradition that comes with that. a level of prestige. when you have that turnover constantly with every administration how in your opinion does that impact the office of the usher? >> well, the ushers offer the continuity between presidents and i was the 18th usher since 18 -- from the 1890s. >> wow. >> so as you can see, there have been very few by the way i happen to be the fir one fired in the 20th century. >> right. the word was you eatery tired or you passed away. no one left that job. >> correct. >> that's how significant it was. >> true. now you have this break in continuity. now that you've been away from it for 23 years, do you think the break is a good thing? do you think that it's good for every administration to have usher that is are loyal to them and they trust implicittedly

you have tabloids. so much at stake. >> there's never been a situation where ushers have ever divulged anything that would have made headline or something that would embarrass the family so i think each administration always has some very personal aids or assistants that come with them. the usher's office has never really been that in tradition at least in the 200 year history of the white house that's never been the case. >> you have this current administration they brought in their own chief usher someone who work for the trump administration. they ran hotels so i guess it's fair to say someone who is running hotels certainly can run the white house. >> sure. does that translate for you. >> are there nuances to this job you really just -- >> i was lucky. i was a computer guy that ended up managing the white house. so i never expected anything like that in my life. i was just very fortunate. >> and i love this book. i know we'll talk about where people can get it. what really was your drive behind writing this book? you kept quite again for so long and now you're out with this story you wrote and rewrote. what are you hoping people get out of it.

>> good morning and thank you so much. honestly i'm -- made me a little emotional. happy giving tuesday everyone. um, to your point, yes, it is the holiday season and everyone is very accustomed to black friday and cyber monday and obviously there's money moving around the globe and it is though the season of the year where we believe be thinking about our communities and our neighbors and how nice to have a day to really shake us out of the pre holiday madness and remain us giving back is really the best way to celebrate. and i'm excited because i got asked to come in and work with papal on this initiative this year. they've had going for a couple of years, and i think the reason i'm really excited about it how many times do you hear somebody accident question, well how do i know where my money is going or how much of it actually goes to the charity? and

we're online payment platform and we know how to fix this. so they've been working on an initiative for a couple of years now where when you donate through their giving fund to any of the thousands of charities that are up on the website organizations that you love and support, they add 1% donation so that you know that 100 1% of your money goes to that charity. and when people wonder does five, ten, 25, 50 bucks make a difference. what does 1% mean. last year the initiative raised an additional $48 million for charity. so it all really does add up and i think it is really the best way to take advantage of the season. >> i really think that for the most part people have generous giving hearts and i think that sometimes giving -- i think it gets a little overwhelming you're like i don't know how much to give. i don't know where to give. i don't know how to go about doing it. i do love that pay pal makes it so simple. what would be your suggestion for people in terms of choosing the best place

are. it's like, you know, you make choices and sometimes those choices have consequences that you don't really know about so much, you know, and they know things start to snowball and then you find yourself years later where the stakes are high and you've compromised and sacrificed enough, you know, so much that you just got to see this thing through, and that's i think where you find us at the beginning of the show. but that will start to unfold as the season progresses. >> ten episodes in the season the first three already out on hulu. fourth one came out today. every tuesday we're getting one out. >> yes. >> have you seen all of them or do you watch them as they come out? >> i haven't seen four yet. i haven't seen the new one. no, i'm a fan. so, you know, i just kind of like to just kick my feet up. it's really cool to be part of something that, you know, i would be watching even if i wasn't on it. so, yeah, i just kind of take them in as they come. >> you grew up here in d.c. welcome home. >> thank you. >> get a chance to come back home for the holidays. did the whole family watch the first three episodes together.

it's kind of surreal, you know, i met stan lee that was like the voice of my childhood. >> what was that like? >> i had this whole speech prepared for him to talk about how grateful i was, you know, for him and what the other, you know, jack kirby and steve did it company all those guys created and i just -- mr. lee, can i take a picture with you please? that's all i got out. >> freeze at that point. >> yeah. >> legendary status right there. >> yeah. do you think that your history of drawing and your love of comics did that help you in &-ús role. >> i let them know. i don't know. >> i'm sure i did. >> i told my agent don't make that secret. let them know. >> put it all out there. the cool and that now once that gets out there and people see more and more of you, particularly in this role, and i think that, you know, people who are fans of marvel they're pretty loyal to the marvel bran. opening up new things for you now? what's next? >> well, i'm excited to be working on a project that i've been working on for years. it's a film project called when autu

>> 10:5. new reaction now to our one of our big stories investigation that found one of d.c.'s deputy mayors violated city policy by getting her staff to take care of her child on more than one occasion. melanie alnwick has been gathering new information season live at the wilson building watch do we know now, mel? >> reporter: good morning. allison. i was able to get my own copy of that inspector general report. i can tell there were five allegations in all of unethical conduct on the part of deputy mayor snowden. she was cleared of all except the child care complaints. those were based on an anonymous complaint back in 2015 and there were three instances that happened in august of 2015. let's lay them out for you. first, she asked an intern to take her eight-year-old child to relative's office in northwest d.c. driving that child there. the intern apparently was paid but the trip did take place

she also had staff on one occasion pick that child up at school because she said they scheduled a meeting for her during the pick up time and finally an instance she left that eight-year-old child at the office unsupervised. while she attended a meeting outside the office. she said relative was supposed to pink the child in 30 minutes but was late because of car trouble. now this morning outside the mayor council breakfast meeting council members i spoke with said they were not happy with the abuse of power. >> there are basic rules that say you can use the public dollar to your own personal benefit and that's what happened here. so maybe there's an emergency situation where you say, look, quickly can you watch my child for 20 minutes while i take care of something? that's one thing but to pick a child up at daycare, take a child to another location, things like that, i think crosses the line. >> we have to be very careful when we hold public office and how we take advantage of we're not supposed to take advantage of government resources. these are taxpayer dollars. so we know we can't use government employees to take care of our kids

>> reporter: now, an administration official gave me an exclusive copy of mayor bowser's written response to the inspector general. in it she notes that miss snowden made mistakes accepted responsibility and offer an apology for exercising poor judgment. the mayor told me this morning that appropriate remedial actions were taken. >> we certainly with theism. good found is that the actions noted were against the rule of the government, and we caution and we council all of our employees to follow the rules to the letter of the law. >> reporter: now in terms of those remedial actions i can tell you that courtney snowden was given ethics training, she was also aside an executive coach, and i'm told that she was counseled on public sector executive decorum. maybe bowser by the way remains in support of the depo tee mayor saying she's been doing very good job in promoting business partnerships in the city. live outside the wilson bui building, melanie alnwick, fox5

you know, things of that nature. >> people hear december they think christmastime. christmas falls on monday this year probably taking off one week to spend time with your family you'll be around. things at the office are probably going to be little slow. you'll have time to kind of date, step out for a date one week night happy hour. go to a christmas party. meet people. >> i think people sometimes get scared to date during the holidays owe my gosh if i have date then i have to get gift. >> right. >> yes. so this is a common theme thing. if you're in new relationship or errly oh and in dating in terms of what to give somebody else. and so something that is really basic is communication. so you can say, hey i'm so excited we'll be spending holidays together. let's set $50 limit or really it's creating that expectation in the communication to avoid that kind of nervous, you know, trying to get something for each other. >> the gift should be appropriate based on how long you've been together. just a couple of months, then maybe take to a concert or something that doesn't come with a lot --
