lying to the fbi, stemming from roberto mueller's russia probe. >> this is what we're talking about, it's 6:30 and let's get to it. a bombshell plea deal in the federal russia probe, michael flynn putting guilty to making false statements to the fbi. prosecutors say he lied about his conversations with russia's ambassador during the transition period before the inauguration. flynn, said a very senior member of the president's transition team told him to contact russian officials. according to ap officials, jared kushner, he's the fourth person charged and the second who pleaded guilty >> let's bring in steph kite and former federal prosecutor, seth waxman, thanks for joining us. >> let's talk about the indictment. it doesn't prove collusion with russia, just talking about lying to the fbi but is the system accomplicety of the indictment, does that single the

something bigger >> i think that's right. i think when a plea like this goes down, the prosecutors put the bare minimum. i think the information that michael flynn shared is probably much wider and probably goes to the core of what the investigation is truly about. collusion and conspiracy to influence the election. >> since we're at this point now obviously a couple hours into it. what would have you heard in the immediate aftermath of the announcement? seems a lot of people were caught off guard by this coming today. >> i think even the white house was caught off guard and they kind of ignored it, kept pushing on with tax reform. this came as a shock to a lot of people. i think people were probably expecting that flynn would ultimately be indicted or plead guilty as we saw today, but i think overall, the white house especially was caught off guard. >> back to the indictment. in the statement that was released, michael flynn said he would be working with or talking with
6:33 pm
do you think at the white house right now, you know, what's going on? are people scrambling? worried? because this seems to be so far the person who has been the closest to the president and then we heard this word come out that the jared kushner was allegedly the very senior official that instructed him to reach out to the russians. >> i think they should be nervous. we're starting to run out of people between the people who have plead guilty and donald trump himself. now we're seeing jared kushner being alleged to have made direct contact through michael flynn to the russians and when you talk about his son-in-law, you can pick out two or three other people, maybe, you know, donald trump junior and handful of other, if that, that are left between him and the president. >> when you look at the last guilty plea, the first was george pop dop and he was dismissed as a glorified coffee

gofer. he was the national security advisor of the united states >> this is not someone they can just talk off. the white house will have to come up with a serious defense for this. we've seen over months that people surrounding trump have gathered more lawyers around them, so i think we've been kind of suspicious that something big like this was going to happen, the fact that it is jared kushner, not only is he close to the president as an vendors but also the son-in-law of the president, and so it's hard -- the hard to believe that he wouldn't have mentioned something. >> i'll tell you what, this week the number of tweets on the number of topics we got and there were a lot of people, a lot of sources who said, there's something coming. but it doesn't seem like they had the insight. it's unchartered waters. >> i think we don't know how this will end up. these are just little clues, pieces of the puzzle and whether this ends with collusion, and the president himself being involved, we still don't know that. so we still have to wait and see how everything plays out but the mueller
6:35 pm
>> seth is a former federal prosecutor as you're watching this case being laid out. we know it started with pop dopulous we then saw paul manafort and now we're here to michael flynn. how is this set up? what's the strategy >> in a conspiracy like this, much like the gambino crime family in the 70's and 80's, they start low, try to move up and or women, and ultimately to the target, we see the fbi charts on tv where you have the big man or woman at the top and you can see that forming just like that in that kind of pyramid shape. it's fitting in just like a federal prosecution with typically arise >> i think if we could talk about this for a long time, but our producer gave us the raps. >> thank you both for joining us. >> happy friday to you. >> thank

incredible is social change is happening right now. and i've dedicated the last 20 years of my life to this movement and waited for this water shed moment for so long, and what really inspires me is that the so he see tall norms are changing. we owe it to the brave men and women who have spoken up >> you mentioned men along with women and i think that's one component that is easily ignored because the last time we had a national conversation on sexual harassment, we go back to the 90's when you talked about clarence thomas and anita hill and bill clinton and monica lou within ski, but now there are men saying hey, me too. >> i think it's so important for us to include both you know men and women in this dialogue, and also the trans community. this impacts every single person. we see that you know, there's so much shame that's associated with sexual assault and sexual harassment, that i really hope that this to dialogue is

people not just in hollywood but from white collar workers to blue collar workers, remove that shame, there's no shame in being a survivor, and every person deserves a safe work environment. >> you're right. angela when we talk about the me too, we know that that movement sort of spread, we started with harvey weinstein. we went to capitol hill. we've seen lawmakers, we're seeing hollywood and most recently, we just got the information about today show hottest matt lauer were you surprised all of a sudden seems like so many people are empowered to come forward and say me too >> it is surprising, not so much i've been doing this work so long that we know that every person watching every viewer out there personally knows somebody who's been impacted by sexual assault in their own life. according to the cdc, one in four girls and one in six boys will experience some type of sexual assault in their lifetime. so all of us know somebody. and it's just so important for us to create communities where we talk about consent. that's o

wea weather. >> nice day for a drive. gwen, i think the question is, as we go into the weekend, what will we see? i like the inquisitive look. i think we got the weekend coming up. there's a lot of people coming to town to check out the christmas tree, all the other trees >> i think there's high school football playoff >> a big one right now >> i think there's a lot of folks that will be out and about tonight and this weekend, gwen what can they expect >> you know what? we're going to have pretty nice conditions, it's going to be chilly night especially but daytime highs will be seasonal. take a look we'll have a few clouds rolling in, partly cloudy skies for tonight and some will be lingering tomorrow, right now, temperatures into the 40's and the 50's, but overnight lows will dip into the 30's especially to the north and northwest, where we'll see low temperatures into
6:41 pm
and the upper 20's. but overall for the weekend, here's what we're talking about, some clouds on your saturday at 53. but a lot more sunshine on sunday an little milder at 55 degrees. so we're pretty close to the seasonal average of where we should be temperature-wise. overnight tonight, we're talking 38 in the city, 39 at annapolis, we've got temperatures as i said into the upper 20's and low 30's to the north and to the northwest. there it's going to be a lot colder, radiational cooling will be kicking in. wind light moving in from the north, ridge of high pressure moves out. we'll see a bit of a warmup once we get into tuesday. 63 and then we'll start to cool back down again, because we've got a frontal system moving through. that frontal system will brings us as chance of showers, we'll see some of the rain on tuesday as well as on hump day by wednesday. on the back side of that, all that colder air really settles in, look at this. daytime highs, only in the 40's, overnight lows into the low 30's.
6:42 pm
sunshine will still be in full force. not a bad weekend. just make sure you dress warm especially if you're going out and tomorrow we have light winds, we're not talking a day where it's gusty or anything of that sort. just enjoy the sunshine and the seasonal temperatures, back to you. claims of sexual harassment are everywhere. this time the veterans affairs medical center we have a fox 5 exclusive when 5@630 comes right back. right
