as erin mentioned, the possibility of a few snowflakes on the forecast on the seven day will it arrive in time for our big christmas day? i'll let you know coming up guys. back to you. >> appreciate it tucker barnes. let's dive right into the breaking news right now. about two hours crews in prince george's county have worked to contain a huge apartment fire in suitland. >> flames could be seen roaring all over the roof as firefighters rush to safe people inside. our melanie alnwick is live on the scene now with the latest and, mel, what can you tell us? >> reporter: good morning, guys really scary moments for the residents here. they tell us that they woke to the sound of fire alarms, smoke, flames, just traveling across the roof of a two-story apartment building. when firefighters arrived here it was about 7:13 in the plg morning. quick hal they had to sound a second alarm. fire extended into attic and the roof area going to an adjoining apartment building and then there was an evacuation tone sounded all the firefighters had to leave the

that was about 7:24. they also had to bring additional ambulances and medic units to the scene. it was very chaotic. one guy i talked to said that the management staff here on scene did an amazing job truly heroic effort on maintenance workers part. he said they came out and they were literally helping to safe people from this building. here's the way another resident described the scene this mor morning. >> as i'm walking i look thed to the left, boom, there's like shattering windows, babies on the balcony crying. asking me to catch me, catch me, casm me. somebody catch me. fire everywhere. fire spreading at this time no ambulance, no fire trucks, very sad, you know. you see the christmas lights falling off the building, everything just coming down. >> reporter: and again it's going to be some time before we know exactly what caused this fire. we can tell you as far as injuries go, there were five people who were

those are civilians and two -- three of those transported to the hospital. also, there was one firefighter who was briefly treated, but then was able to return to duty. those injuries said to be not terribly serious but certainly very very scary moments for everyone here. also, we've been talking about reports there was low water pressure here. from what we were told from assistant chief alan doubleday this is a privately serviced hydrant area. once it goes to private apartment complex, those hydrants are the responsibility of the private company and that they did have some maintenance issues going on but he said they often expect that to happen when they go on to private property with private hydrants. so they always bring backup water resources, and they also brought in additional trucks and they routed some other hydrants as well. so according to the fire chief he says those water issues did not contribute to any problems here on the scene. in fact he said they called wssc had wss

pressure. now, even though we do have people who are -- like we said kind of the good news is their injuries aren't terribly serious, we do now have 11 apartments with 19 adults and 11 children who will not have home for quiet sometime. live in suitland, melanie alnwick fox5 local news. >> mel, thank you for that update. heartbreaking. we want to bring up to speed on our big story this morning. major new details about that deadly amtrak crash in washington state. investigators saying that the amtrak train was traveling 80 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone. when it left those tracks. that revelation made overnight after investigators scam the train's data recorder. at least three people were killed and dozens of others injured in that derailment. officials say they need to search the entire train to confirm the exact number. >> say enough to search. we know that there's nobody alive in them at this point, but there are some other fatal that is were probably going to find. we just don't know until they can

get in there and search them. >> ntsb investigators say it's not known what is caused the train to derail it's too early to tell why it was going so fast. 90:00 rate now maryland medical professor along with his daughter and family friend are the three people killed in a small plain crash in indiana over the weekend. dr. ken lena and his daughter came me and paul, perish when the plane went down saturday night. 70 miles southeast of indianapolis. a dog was also killed in the crash. a second dog on board did survive. can lena taught emergency medicine at the uniformed services university in bethesda. ♪ today lawmakers in the house are expected to vote on the gop's tax bill. it's the first major overhaul in 30 years. no democrats are backing the bill. they claim it gives too many cuts to the wealthy. the gop says it saves the middle class money. even without democratic support, the bill is expected to pass.

frederick maryland man is in jail after police say he sexually assault add 12-year-old boy. according to police row moan miguel reyes contacted the boy on social media then on to december11th he drove to his house and pick him up. police say he then drove the victim to silver spring where the assault took place. d-c police are investigating a deadly shooting in southeast. it happen last night on the basketball court near douglas community center on bruce place. this morning, the search for the suspect continues. police say she will casings covered the basketball court. ans commissioner says the treating happened after an argument between teenagers. >> you can't even go to a basketball court and enjoy playing basketball without being subjected to gun violence. the majority of these shootings are happening between the young kids. and some of these young kids parents know they have guns, and they don't have no respect

speeding through the 25 miles an hour zone at 39 miles an hour. so they followed him here to this giant super market parking lot in ashburn. they pulled him over. he was cited they say for going 39 in a 25. and for having illegally tinted windows. now, when the incident was over, s. a cravens pull out his cell phone and recorded this video he says when he was pulled over he got out of the car to see what was going on, that the sheriff's deputies grabbed him, handcuffed him, put him in squad car, and then searched his car because they say it smelled like marijuana. he said nothing was found. he claims he was racially profiled. and he has threatened to sue the cloud down county sheriffs office. he was with his brother at the time again this was on wednesday afternoon and here's here now again after the incident was over, but while he was still here witness sheriffs investigators here is su pops a cravens explaining hat happened. >> pulled me over in the parki

we'll -- yes, erin call it. up near 60 later today. we hit it on december the fifth. and we're going to get close to it today. notice our record high for the day is 74. we're not going to threaten the record here it should be a nice mile afternoon and i know everybody is running around getting ready for the holiday weekend, and the weather will cooperate. so we shouldn't have any problems on the roads at least as far as weather is concern. okay nice and quiet. few clouds out there early. most of your day will be kind of partly to mostly sunny. i think we'll get a little more sunshine than yesterday, and the winds out of the south and west here will deliver a very pleasant afternoon. so again weak cold front off to the north and west up ahead of that nice push of some mild air around here then the front will drop in tonight. that will give us high temperatures tomorrow back in the upper 40s to about 50. we'll be cool. by the way first day of winter is on thursday and thursday looks cool as well couple cool days after today. but really very pleasant condition. let's focus on the weekend quickly. saturday it looks wet if you're traveling saturday it will be rain 93 day but notice your mild temperatures 62.

beautifully written to take that and to create it and to make the my own which is so exciting and i thank them for giving me the opportunity to do that. in night tonight is it different for you. is there something that you keep the same and why. >> we have a different audience every night. we have people that have never seen the show before. we have people have who have seen the show many times. >> to be able to create every night something might be different a reaction might be different. but i think that that is what is so exciting about live theater. >> theater is making a resurgence in my opinion. to me i think it's because people are yearning for more substance. i don't know if i'm over paying that. what do you think? would you say that you're fining that to be the case yes. >> i think so. i think that, you know, people like to connect with people on stage. >> um-hmm. >> in a screen there's kind of this disconnect. but when you can see a live person on stage, working and bringing you a story that you can connect with, i think that it just helps to reinforce it. >>
