>> the big story tonight, congress has officially avoided a government shutdown. well, for now. earlier tonight congress passed a stop gap spending bill approved by both the house and senate just hours apart from each other. the national approved it in a 66 to 32 vote while the house passed it 231 to 188. the bill passed with time to spare before a friday midnight deadline. and it keeps government agencies run ning through january 19. nothing is ever easy, though, right? the passage came with mixed reviews from lawmakers. let's call this cr for what it is. a chaotic retreat from rash alt order and fiscal responsibility. play politics on tax cuts. call it whatever you want to ul contact it. play politics on all the other legislation that comes
