going on with temperatures aound the region. 25-degrees in d.c. westminster, you're 19- degrees. it's not terribly wind dism the wind chillies a little better than what it was. it's tough to be out there. only 16-degrees is what it feels like in d.c. twenty-six for culpeper, 13 in martinsburg and 17 for cumberland. we have to get you ready for two big weather stories. for starters more brutal cold is going to be coming into our area. the timing basically friday. we're giving you lots of heads up on this because we want you to be ready. but that big area of low pressure, it could also be bringing parts of our area some snow. winter storm watches are up for the beaches, for ocean city and behind that departing system it looks like it's going to get dangerously cold, friday and saturday being the coldest days. tomorrow not bad. we are going to see some of the storm watches going into affect wednesday eveni

going to be denied. the search is on tonight for two men who police say tried to kidnap an eight year old girl this morning in a toe mona park neighborhood jim and sarah, good evening very scary for parents, especially considering today is the first day back at school for many kids who were off during winter break . i want to show you the area where this took place. police say right at the very end there you could see there are three police cars that are monitoring that area over off of elm and pine. they've practically been there since school has hazlet out around 3:00 this afternoon and they've been canvassing the area since that time making sure that parents and kids walking are safe in their neighborhood. we're told that around nine:15 this morning, the eight year old girl, she was waiting outside for her dad to tak h

school when police say two men inside of a gray minivan approached her. and police say they used one of the oldest enticements in the book offering her candy to try to lure herein side. the girl did not fall for it and she immediately ran inside the house and told her dad what happened, but before the two men took off police say the girl got a very good at a look at the passenger. now it's because of that little girl's description that they have a better idea of who they're look ing for tonight. i thought it was very impressive how much she could remember in the brief encounter for being so young, but it's really helpful. obviously offering children candy is one of the old things that people do. i mean you can get creative with it, but it's since soggy remember my mother telling me about. nothing along the lines of trying to kidnap anybody. i'm really shokd a

did that as a result we now know as a result a two-year investigation that stretched back to february of 2016 when duncan and his wife had traveled to turkey. sean duncan didn't face any terrorism charges today , what effaced was an obstruction of justice charge. why is that? well, because when the fbi showed up at the justice justice department, apparently duncan was home in the house and then fled out of the building. in his possession were two critical items. one of them was a flash drive, the other was a memory chip that had been broken . fbi officials say that was an attempt obstruct this investigation. in fact, justice department officials tell fox5 they weren't really planning on arresting duncan on friday until he allegedly ran. court documents also went onto detail this nearly two year investigation in which they say sean duncan discussed his support for isis. he researched

>> along chilling temperatures are responsible for the surge in water main breaks. since friday , wss crews have responded to more than 60 water main break s. this actually was the seen in hyattsville after a water main break shut down traffic. utility crews initially thought i was a water main break, but later found a pipe had burst in the boiler room. nearly 200 students are due back from winter break tomorrow. in silver springs one man's basement flooded this morning following an 8-inch water main break. massive backups. it froze over and caused some dangerous conditions out there for drivers. in baltimore, streets and cars were covered in a thick layer of ice after a water main break there and this could take a couple of days to clear up because of

winter storm watches. what does a watch mean? it means there's potential for four to six inches of snow in these areas that you see outlined in blue. that would include the shinning teeing area, salsbury to ocean city to row who he bet. it gets changed to a warning, then the four to six inches looks like it's definitely do bl a. right now it's a watch. the potential is there for a pretty rough thursday morning commute. this is going to be a coastal area of low pressure that's going to really develop quite quickly and we're calling it a close quawl because it really doesn't look like it's able to get much closer than the chesapeake bay but maybe some flurries. the track will be very important, though. on today's track most models are not going to be able to deliver any flurries much west of d.c. but we have to watch that track because that can definitely change. i'll give you a couple other headlines about that. most accumulating snow potential would be east of interstate 95 and it would be fairly

herndon. many people were hurt, including a kid who was eject from a minivan. fox5's lindsay watts in the news room. fairfax county police said today that the child is in stable condition at the hospital, but does remain critical. for the first time we are getting a look at the suspect at the center of the crime spree. he's eight year old brandon vincent of adele if i. he was also injured as you can see here, be is now out of the hospital and in jail. investigators said this all started last thursday when vincent knocked on the door of a home in center villian then hit the young child who answered the door. from there vincent took off in a stolen car, and then crashed into a pickup truck and then ended up car jacking that driver. vincent also stole a trailer and attached it to the truck. vincent would not stop. he ran a red light and crashed into a van with a mother and her kids inside. one of the children was ejected. police say all of the others in that van are now out of the hospital
