11:30 pm
thursday night your final five. it is round two of president trump versus steve bannon and tonight we have nicknames. the potential for another investigation into hillary clinton's damn e-mails. jeff sessions clearly not a fan of 420 around a ceremonial bowel not that kind is used to decide a quinner in a dead house race in virginia. this is the final five. let's do this. you know it's kind of weird i thought like somebody was hovering over me at the very start of the show . maybe it was sarah hug bi sanders much that's how she felt. her
11:31 pm
the president prerecorded something, leaving sanders tan ning there awkwardly as it played. enjoy. thank you for being with us today, the historic tax cut i signed into law just two weeks ago before christmas is already delivering major economic gains. more than 606 companies have announced they are raising wages, includ ing many that have voluntarily raised their minimum wage to $15 an hour. >> she didn't know where to look there. it was kind of weird. if you can focus on the president's message he was tout ing \tax\tacks reform and the economy. the do you hit another record breaking 25,000. with all that's going on the tax bill wasn't what recorders wanted to talk about, the big elephant in the room, steve bannon. the monitors could probably have looked more like this because president trump, the comments about him in a new book still has everyone talk. of course we know bannon said
11:32 pm
pretty unflattering things about the trump administration. among them calling done jr.'s meeting tree shoes. the trump administration sent a cease and desist letter but it seems a little late. demanding the publisher halt the release of fire and furry inside the trump white house. good luck, with all the attention the publisher is moving up the release to tomorrow. well, that's if you want to read it. there's a lot of book who don't want to read the book. and their reaction of the book coming it is a little less than flattering. there are numerous mistake, but i'm not going to waste my time or the country's time going page by page talking about a book that is complete fantasy and full of tabloid gossip. pressure o billing on bright barker's one of bright barker's the mercer family is trying to distance itself from
11:33 pm
reports claim that bannon comments were off the record. tonight, in fact, just about 30 minutes ago the president tweet ed about the book and get ready because we have nicknames i authorize zero can a zest to white house actually turned down many times for author of phony book. i never spoke to him for book, full of lies and misrepresents. look at this guy 's past and watch what happens to him and sloppy steve we now have a nickname for steve bannon. last night sloppy steve called president trump a great man, something the president referenced today. he called me a great man last night, he obviously changed his tune pretty quick. i don't talk to him. that's just a misnomer. president trump made the comments after a meeting at the white house with gop senators about immigration reform. he said that securing the border is his top priority since september when the president said he would terminate
11:34 pm
to make the policy died to the budget deal, democrats pushing back on funding the border wall, again the border wall with a list of other priorities. we have a chance to start off on the right foot. we have two weeks to negotiate a budget deal that also must address a host of other issues, including chip -- there's that woman again. community health centers, disaster aidan of course, the dreamers. i don't think she likes to be on tv all the time. she's always there. i don't know who she is. i'm fascinated by her. every time chuck schumer is there, she's there. daca and immigration reform are being tied to budget necessity geerks. if daca is not included , congress has until march 5 to come up with a legislative fix for the so-called dreamers. let's talk about foreign poly, the trump administration will suspend most security assistance to pakistan the move freeze essayed payments . ill
11:35 pm
allegate the money anywhere else . all comes after the president's tweets earlier this week criticizing pakistan. the trump administration definitely taking a tough stance against the country. for years american offeringses have complained that pakistan allow the taliban to operate within its borders. they offered safe hairches for ongoing violence in afghanistan this is something that should not come as a surprise to pakistan because the president, secretary tillerson and secretary mattis all have had conversations with pakistan and officials alerting to them to our concerns that pakistan has not done enough to dough contain , take care of, when i say detain, round up, terrorists in militant groups operating from within pakistan. as nor north korea yesterday they made contact on a phone line with south korea for the first time
11:36 pm
is taking credit for it. with all the experts weighing in does anyone actually believe talks would be going on if i wasn't full, strong, fools, but talks are a good thing. i think the president's tweet about the nuclear button is what made kim jong un said go ahead. they have agreed to hold high level talks with south korea next tuesday. the us has agreed to delay talks until the winter olympics are over. they made it between a phone call today. the drills is a threat to penning yang. president trump also told moon he would send high level representatives to the games including members of his own family. >> all right. buckle up, the do j could be taking another look at hillary clinton's private e-mail s
11:37 pm
on bernie sanders right now. let me say something that may not be great politics, but i think the secretary is right. and that is that the american people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn e-mails. >> nawng, me, too. >> could we be honest? that moment in that debate was one of the worst mistakes bernie sanders could have made because that thered number could have been an on go campaign move for him h. regardless, that's in the past. the daily beast is reporting that investigators are using to look at how secretary team looked at class pi education information was sent over the server. they had marked classified that were on the laptop belonging to her form er huss band anthony weiner who is in jail now and teen should be yaild for disregarding basic protocols. the justice department is launching a new inquiry into the clinton
11:38 pm
will never, ever end there is a new report out tonight about the russia probe. the new york times is saying back in march, president trump dispamped the white house's top lawyer to your knowledge jeff sessions from recuse himself in the russia probe. of course the effort didn't work. we'll keep an eye on that one for you tonight. a big story that came out in california, this is getting a the there of play, think about what happened there a couple of days ago. the trump administration making the move to crack down on marijuana use even in states where it's illegal. pto pot is against the law on the federal level. jeff sessions doesn't like the idea of legalized weed. making it easier for them to go after sellers in states where it's legal. the move comes four days after california launched the biggest market. it's creating uncertainty in a growing industry. literally, a growing industry. senator corey gardener says sessions
11:39 pm
the marijuana wouldn't be a priority during the trump administration. the conversation that we had that was specifically about this issue of state's rights in colorado, until he lives up to that commitment i will be hold ing all nom nominations to the department of justice. critics have been quick to point out back in 2016 on the campaign trail president trump said shied said he believes should be left up to the states. that is regardless of what the topic is, whether it's marijuana or whether it's immigration, the president strongly believes that we should enforce federal law, the move that the department of justice has made, which my guess is what you're referencing, simply gives prosecutors the tools to take on large scale distributors and enforce federal law. as you can imagine pot heads and pro weed politicians are not happy about the decision . colorado senate democrats had one of the strong est reactions tweeting this.
11:40 pm
our legal pot when he prides it from our warm, interesting interesting to look at hands. to go after a drug that is safer than alcohol jeff sessions focused on white collar crime. it seems like there was plenty of that to go around in d.c. if only there was some way to mellow him out. good luck. with the action today sessions unleashing prosecutors but stopping short of them to bring more pot cases. let's talk about the wild race in the virginia house of delegates, one seat was itself onlt difference between a republican ma are the jo than a a tied balance of power. a the race was decided today by drawing a name out of a decorative bowel. we print slip s of power with the name on them. these are brand new canisters from amazon. we'll then place them into a bowel, stir them around and pull out the winner. by the w
11:41 pm
election official are really proud of that bowel. see it right there. it was a hand crafted piece. i think if you like hands craftsmanship on loan from the virginia museum of fine art and the name that was drawn which is really why we're telling you you this story, republican david yancy, his opponent shell i simpson did not say she would take legal action do i think it is fair, you you faux, it was a long, hard election season and it does seem like a sudden end to the story to have to end on a game of chance. by the way, those film canisters you can buy 20 of them for eight bucks. by the way the house of delegates race hasn't been desooded like this since 97 #, but then it didn't hold the same significance. that is not the last heard we've heard of this racey can imagine. >> talking more about national security. lots to talk about tonight, stick around, back after
11:44 pm
>> 2018 is just a couple of days old but we have been talking about a lot of aspects of foreign policy. the other day, the battle of the buttons with kim jong un and then the steve bannon story, add to that the conflict in iran and more with russia. matthew trough monies the head of the regulatory and former national security counselor. he is up with me late on the final five. good evening. >> good evening. >> here we are in 2018, foreign policy obviously a main component. i'm curious what you see as the main focus going into this year, what the trump administration hewed be dealing with. >> well, i think there are a couple of key agenda items that they'll be focused on and rightfully so. some of the obvious ones will be north korea , what
11:45 pm
ongoing tension with that country and their nuclear threats and continued testing. obviously the relationship with china remains paramount in terms of geo political strategy and then there are issues of significant importance including issues between israel and the palestinian people in the middle east and the continuing threat of isis and their ability to project ter rims around the world. as we were just looking at images from north korea, the big story has been in addition to the back and forth the issue of north korea apparently look ing to reopen communication with south korea, is that an attempt to make an end run around the united states? it may be. it's really hard to be absolutely sure as to what motivates a regime like that, but i think the most important thing is that the united states sen yois a very strong
11:46 pm
been a long tanning alliance since the end of the korean war in the early 1950s and i would expect there could be close coordination between the us, south korea, japan and other allied nations in that region. as we look at the trump administration and the faces of the trump administration theres was all this talk, all this speculation about recollection still tillerson's role. one person we've seen a lot of is nikki haley. she was very force ful talking about the pro testors in iran or at least showing some support from the united nations for that. is she the de facto face of foreign policy in this administration now? >> i think she has a very prominent position from which to speak. obviously being the ambassador to the un, it's a prominent role in the foreign policy establishment of the us government. clearly we still have a secretary of state and he has an important role as well, but you are correct that ambassador
11:47 pm
forthright and out spoken and i think appropriately so in terms of making it clear to the world that the us is expecting the iran ands to deal with civil pro tests in its country and that the us in some regards supports those protestors and the demands they're making which is asking for free and fair elections, ask ing to have a voice in the country and asking for a right to speak their opinion. for all the talk about russia, there was a piece that came out just a couple of days ago about russia and the cyber attacks against the us that never really let up i think there was this perception that ended for a whievment when it comes to cyber attacking the us and russia have been engaging in that continuously. i think it's very clear that the russias believe that they have a strategic advantage by taking advantage of social networks, particularly in a free society like ours and they're going to continue to try t and interfere with our elects they will try and
11:48 pm
the way we go about our business in this country and it's just something that i think the piece you're referring to is by congressman rogers, very appropriately so. he's signalinging the call and saying to the us government we need to take it seriously. i appreciate you staying up late. i think there is a lot of issues that people tend to ignore when it's not happening right in front of you. thank you. we're back after this on the final five.
11:50 pm
>> this guy, between your fox5 national championship trophy yesterday and the speaking truth to power when it comes to lottery winnings it's been a big day for you. it has been a big couple of days. really yesterday was a big day. still kind of hung over from that. when you talk about drawing the lottery, you picked the balls out of the h

that pretty much in virginia with that election. just a terrible way to end a democratic society to decide something. we were trying to come up with some different ideas. you you can call the names. she was very proud of her find on amazon. we had a couple ideas. fight to the death? maybe not. that did work with alexandria hamilton and aaron bert. if brody and i were running for office. wouldn't you love that option to vote between brody logan and myself? or less. so rock, paper, scissors. let's go. one , two, three, shoot. see. i win. he wibs the seat in the delegate. that would be great. i would have tuned into that. so tense. especially if you make the best two out of three. flip
11:52 pm
are places that do flipping of a k-9. >> in very small municipalities and things like that. we got to go to our corners. how would you do that? if we were running for office, can you imagine david yancy and shell i amazons sam sons doing this. great. you're well welcome. a drinking certifies test. that would be good. either way, all of that way more entertaining than what they did with canisters. what was it anchor man? nothing of the hair and face? i think you violated that law. it was in the ear. i didn't you see you you have your eye. you got two of them. i do have two, that's
11:53 pm
to hit up a white house staffer on their cell. did that come natural coming from me. >> all the kids say cell ie. you you don't be able to reach them during white house. the white house is banning staff from using their personal cellphones at phone. they insist the ban is about security , not about leaks. the ban will not apply to the media to who have their briefings in the west wing which i was actually surprised about that. i can think of one person in the white house, who if you took away his cellphone we all would probably be a lot better off. the white house and staffers can still use their government-issu ed devices. the thing is you can't text from those phones. there was a big deal, president obama used to carry the blackberry. he couldn't do the blackberry when he first came intos of on. they had to give him some sort of super secure phone. the
11:54 pm
mcdonald's isn't too far away. is it two quarter pound. i disagree with with the whole chocolate shake and fill aoh fish. the president of turk has put a ban on black cars in the country's capital city. he's got all this power, why not. we don't know why, that's the thing . it's because they're bad luck. he doesn't like black car s because they have been i am powned. before the owners get their cars back they have to i gre to have them repainted. i did read that in response yellow cars have been banned in packman stand. that's terrible. that is such an incorporate incorporate inky move. i'm going to have my ear checked out . we're back after
11:57 pm
sean spicer made a splash on his first day about the size of the crowds on inauguration day. there's a sign he's not with the administration anymore that he's talking to cn thered number that he skewed up. while the networks aren't calling about a job but but he'd like them to. he should be sound aleap. washington here at home who enjoy marijuana on a recreational base i not a good night. nobody should be surprised that jeff sessions is planning a crack down. tonight on this thursday night, the law is the law so for the pro pot crowd you're tossing and turning . this is my dad's

announcer: today on "tmz" -- charles: to hell with all of these friendly hollywood greetings at parties. we've got video at a diddy party and this is the way celebrities should really greet each other. >> rah from "love & hip-hop" said she sees her archenemy sky so she walks up to sky like you know, hugs. >> it's a gadget fight. it's a gadget fight! >> khloe kardashian at l.a.x. we said what's your routine right now? do you work out every day, and she says -- >> when i feel up to it. >> normally with your first kid, you always snap back. >> it also depends how old you are, definitely. >> still, it's a good idea if you start your first kid at 30. that's what you should do. not like your 20's.
