then pinpoint that break and start digging underneath this. so not only is it going to cause problem today, but once they start digging in here, then obviously that's going to cause some traffic issues as well and drivers obviously have not been very patient. we've been seeing them take very risky cut throughs trying to get here to 66. not making the police here very happy. but they're doing the best they can to try to warning them that they cannot come through here and to get roded around. this is just one of the water main breaks that d.c. water is dealing with there's a handful of others around the city today. but they say they've dealt with more than 50 in the last couple of days. and also they're getting calls about 200 a day for other kinds of water emergencies. such as people with broken pipes in their homes or their businesses it really is all hands on deck situation. you not only here but also for wssc they've had hundreds of water main breaks as well. everybody working as harass they can but they do have to prioritize

people running out of gas. and even animals like rodents and snakes crawling into engines and so they are basically doing everything they can to keep people moving. roadside assistance, right. so now we're in new carrollton where we have come across a very unusual situation. george's car his ignition switch has basically frozen, and so we can't get the key to turn all the way. jerome kind of set this up. what's going on here? >> well a lot of times when, um, it's really cold like this today, the ignition switch actually block up. so we tried both keys, same result. so the key is not actually turning. >> reporter: you've suggested putting alcohol on it. hot water. and now we have gone to a he heater. a space heater? >> the member informed me today prior to me getting here they actually put alcohol and water and there was a little bit of progress. >> reporter: i see if we're able to get the key now but still won't actually
