virginia. news at 10 starts right now. and webegin tonight with breaking news. crews are on the scene of a townhouse fire in montgomery county. >> and as many as 100 firefighters battled the massive fire in the 3500 block of soft wood terrace. lauren demarco is live at the scene with the latest. lauren we understand a firefighter was injured in this. >> reporter: the sarah, i just got the update. two firefighters were injured and i want to you take alook right here. you can see there's still pretty heavy smoke coming out of the roof of one of these units. it as i row of five town home units. sky fox was over the scene earlier as flames could be shooting from this row of homes. home in senter is believed to be where the fire started and it's not clear exactly what caused it. the flames broke ut on the deck. that's where it started. and at this point, firefighters still trying to put out the hot spots and make

sure this is completely under control before they can clear the scene. a lot of firefighters out here as you said 100 of them called out ta a second alarm fire. we have ground video. we looked around the back of the house there was a partial collapse as well. and again, still trying to determine the cause. we do know about two dozen people will be displaced here, along with two firefighters injured, fortunately, those injuries non life the threatening. and there was also a civilian person here at one of the homes who suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation. that person was taken to the hospital. two firefighters expected to be evaluated. treated and released. pretty dramatic scene here. we he spoke with montgomery country fire spokesman pete paringer what they've been dealing with particularly firefighters with the cold temperatures as well. >> during course of firefighter operation

a building collapse middletown house which appears to be townhouse of original up and temperatures 9, 10 degrees and feels like is 5 below. so very difficult for our fire firingter and equipment they're using is freezing up and getting stiff. >> and within the course of of an hour, there were half of the montgomery county fire personnel deployed in montgomery country. you are looking at a scene from garth ter res in fwaimingersburg and that was another fire they were called to prior to this one. 65 fire fighters deployed to that about a dozen people displaced. there were two town homes and in that case it's believed the fire started in the basement and spread throughout the rests of the home. and it was believed to have started by a drier that started that fire. it's still under investigation. no sear isious injuries. there imagine what a busy evening

spnser national policy institute in alexandria tonight. this is his picture from twitter profile. students discovered some of his alt right views on social media according to school president. conti works for richard spencer national policy institute and has a role with his security team. this is him in charlottesville where it ended up turning deadly. we understand academy of the holy cross found out about conti's ties to the at right movement and richard spencer in october. conti says that's what he was fired and the school just sent out a letter about his firing yesterday. conti work as substitute teacher field hockey and track coach we're learning. we spoke to students on campus this afternoon that were shocked to learn of the double life he was living. >> i knew him quite well i was on the field hockey team. and it was pretty shocking for mevrment i think it was shocking for everyone to see that. but i'm upset b
