much of metro south florida doing just fine. right along the 836 in miami-dade county, south of m.i.a., all is quiet. 234 southwest miami-dade we have cooler temperatures, light winds and clear skies, the fog settling in. west kendall and homestead into the mid 60s. everybody else in the lowow 70s. we have dipped down to 69 in ppbroke pines. as i mentioned, clear skies above, early morning sunshine. a rapid warmup and a nice day ahead. here is a look at the port of miami, a little fog trying to settle in. 84 midday, 8686 your first alert forecast high. my complete forecast in about 12 minutes. right now to traffic and kelly blanco. >> good morning, ryan and good morning south florida. we have construction, a whole lot of it. taking a look at our first alert cameras. this is where we have l lanes completely blocked off on the

we just saw within of those cars go by. if you're heading out the door, you dodged this one. we ha a couple other construction alerts. let's look over to our maps, the palmetto expressway eastbound from the big curve to the golden glades, a couple lanes blocked off at northwest 37th avavue. palmetto expressway drivers, as you're making your way from the big curve to the okeechobee road, traffic moving at 55 miles per hour. this is where we had construction northbound at 122nd street. palmetto expressway drivers northbound, bird road to the dolphin expressway, a four-minute route. we had all lanes blocked off at tamiami trail. all those lanes should be reopening within the next few minutes as well. the florida primaries are here in just a couple hours. many of you will head to the polls to choose your favorite for your party's nomination. four other states also vote today. all eyes aree focused on our home state of florida and ohio. julia bagg live at a polling

i went on the website for the elections office, they have late countdown there, right around two hours. >> reporter: that's right, sheli. it'ssuiet out here but we don't expect it to be quiet for much longer. you might as well call this super tuesday, too. it has one candidate up pretty late. have a look at what donald trump tweeted out after midnight, taking a shot at john kiss sick of ohio, he voted for nafta a disaster for ohio. vote trump andnd end this madness. let's look at the scenario for donald trump who has a commanding lead in florida. he's right behind the governor of ohio in that state. now, if he clinches both florida and ohio, he ends up with a commanding 707 delegates that will really separate himself from the republican pack. things change if he does not win ohio. have a look at that scenario. it's where things get trickier.

despite the odds, he's still optimistic. he says he plans to take florida and continue on with his campaign. last night in south florida speaking in front of quite the crowd in west miami. not winning his home state would be devastating for marco rubio and it would strengthen growing calls for him to simply hang it up, drop out of the race. rubio has won only three contests leading into super tuesday. aandful of polls shows donald trump here at home. still rubio's advisers remain hopeful that the senator will pull in those late deciding voters. they believe that is the key here. here is what rubio had to say in a west miami rally last night. >> i left the campaign office, literally over 100 people still there calling, getting ready for tomorrow. i will never be able to express thanks for the support this community has given me, not just now, but over the last years. >> reporter: today is the day, a huge day.

best but expecting the worst right now at this moment. >> unfortunately that turned out to be thecase. mon tess de oca leees behind a wife and three young kids. we're told he had a pacemaker. there is speculation he may have had a heart condition while he was on the water. a woman is recovering in the hospital after a deadly crash in hollywood. we told you about this yesterday morning. it happened near the 1700 block of east young circle. police say the driver was eeding on hollywood boulevard, lost control and crashed through the wall next to the public loading dock. 24-year-old david paul lemoore was killed, his passengers rorona villa remains in critical condition. police are searching for sommody they're describing as a clever crook. we'll see how he managed to make an official entrance into a gas station in a very odd way before

welcome back. we continue to followh breaking news overnight in chicago. three officers have been shot on the city's west side. within the last 30 minutes, we learned police are questioning a woman in connection to that shooting. investigators say the shootout happened while the officers were looking into drug activity. one of the officers did return fire and killed one of the suspects. the officers right now being treated for non-lifi-threatening injuries. as soon as we get another update, we'll pass it alng to you on air and online. it's not super tuesday, but as super tuesday in florida. the presidential race has five states voting the day including right here in florida. by tonight we should know if donald trump will have an as asy or a difficult path to the nomination, also whether or not the poll also ckfire on hillary clinton again. nbc's tracie potts gives us the washington, d.c. outlook in today's primaries. >> reporter: donald trump is hoping for an upset in ohio today by portraying john kasich

into a gas station through a hole. the man stole the cash inside the register, rummaged through cabinets before leaving threw the same way he came in. he f he looks familiar to you, call broward crimestoppers at 954-493-tips. detectives are saying a 27-year-old man is under arrest after being stabbed by two members in the canadian forces yesterday. they say he walked up to the center, pulled out a knife and attacked the person behind the front desk. another soldier got hurt while taking that suspect down, boo expected to be okay. police say the suspect said, quote, certain comments that led them to look into a possible terror connection. we don't know exactly what those comments were at this point. sarah palin's husband is in

we're going to keep it dry. live first alert doppler sweepinggclear. let's look outside and see what's happening. a good look frommur miami children's museum. the air is thick, kind of heavy here. as we look towards port miami, i love this shot. once we get deeper into the morning, bring on the sunshine. a beautiful start to our tuesday. it will be filled with sunshine this afternoon. a clear view as we move out and look towards aaa. lights going out there in the freedom tower. still have another two hours of darkness before we bring on our 7:30 sunrise. it's come down just a bit here in opa-locka, from about 2234568 mimies to less than one mile. patchy in nature. a lot of the times the fog developing around where the observation siie is. notice as you head from opa-locka towards m.i.a., visibility improved drastically. broward county, not seeing any problems.

where we're seeing the problem. we're seeing light winds, calm conditions and a little moisture near the surface. that's the catalyst. it won't last long and won't be widespread. most of us settling back to around 70. we have pockets of 60s. pembroke pines at 69. as for the rain, a few isolated showers on monday. it doesn't look to be the main story here. i think bright sunshine all day long, very warm temperatures which trend above average. that's the rule of our forecast for the next few days. future radar trying to indicate one or two spotty showers developing out west later this afternoon. not really too concerned a aout this. let's talk about the warmth. after patchy fog this morning and tmperatures at 71, in the morning drive bring on the sunshine and we're up to 84 midday. again today,86, my first alert forecast high, could see more patchy og developing tonight leading into wednesday morning. but wednesday just as nice. mostly clear at 70 tonight.

golden glades under ten minutes as well. we're accident-free in miami-dade and broward county. you can follow me @kellynbc6, i'll be pooing updates all morning long. another case of zika in south florida. health officials are reporting one new case in miami-dade bringing the county's total to 28. there are 60 confirmed cases statewide including four that do invve pregnant women. last week experts discovered the first sexually transmitted zika case in polk county. far there have been no locally acquired cases in the state as all are travel related. a trial that could impact the future of education in florida is happening right now in tallahassee. the case stems from a lawsuit filed about six yearsago which accuses the state of not providing enough money for public schools under a constitutional amendment that was passed way backck in 1998. critics are saying minorities and kids if poor families have been short changed as a result

together ahead of the primaries. we'll talk with julia live in just a few minutes. but first here is ryan phillips with a look at your voting forecast. >> patchy fog, not a widespread fog event. not talking big visibility problems that will impede the morning drive. want to give you a heads up generally across southwest miami-dade from kendall down towards homestead, cutler bay, florida city. we'll keep the fog around briefly this morning because bright south florida sunshine will take over. it's going to drive these temperatures quickly into the upper 70s even before we get to about 10:00 or so. at 65 in west kendall and homestead. that's where we're finding the patchy fog. most of us in the low 70s. a look towards aaa and the bay side area, out toward the beaches, visibility is just fine.
