a man walked into the store and indicated he was robbing the place. he was armed with a knife. he didn't know what the clerk was armed. when the suspect went up to the clerk, the clerk fired. >> the clerk is fine. he is fine, we're questioning him. but it is straightforward what happened. >> reporter: the suspect was taken to tampa general hospital. he has life threatening injuries. there was a witness inside of the store at the time of the shooting, no one else was injured. we talked to the brother of the clerk. he said they have had trouble in the past when there was trouble he said his brother was ready to respond. we'll have more from time coming up here at 6:00. for now live in tampa, haley hinds, fox 13 news. >> thank you. was it road rage or a random act of violence. police are searching for a motorcyclist who opened fire on

the victim crashed his car after being shot. the man on the motorcycle took off. this was on east fowler avenue at 1:00 a.m. this morning. and crystal clark reports on what the witnesses saw. >> what is your emergency. >> i think this guy was shot in his car, i don't know. >> a woman and her fiancee noticed a car veering. the wind coshattered the man was shot. >> we just got off 75, we saw this motorcycle driving fast by him. i heard a noise and he is moving slow, when they arrived they found the car crashed to the side of the road. >> police say the driver, 36-year-old hispanic man said that a motorcyclist pulled up next to hime and fired shots. he said he was a white male in his 40s or 50s on a racer bike.

description but he had gray hair and beard and face was covered but not wearing a helmet. >> they don't know if the men were coming from the same place or knew each other. the driver said he followed him for miles before taking his shot. police are hesitant to call it an act of road rage. they say decide the circumstances the suspect acted recklessly and needs to be taken off the road. >> this could have been random, maybe it's not. it was there on the street. that's con terning. >> and they're trying to find the family out of state. they're asking anyone with information to come forward. >> anyone could help. >> reporter: crystal clark, fox 13 news. >> police do not have a description of the motorcycle involved and no video to work with at this time.

starving their three children. kimberly hay haygood and anthony joans are still in jail. they have a boy and a set of twins. they say the children were extremely malnourished. the twins each weighed just over 20 pounds. they're four years old. that's what a 1 year old should weigh. they found marks and scars on the kids. the parents now facing a number of charges including abuse. a driver is killed after a crash involving a semi trailer in pasco. and skyfox is over 52 and just after 11 this morning. and the highway patrol said a truck with trusss was killed. it sounds like a broken record. more than as to cats this time rescued from a house of filth. it was in polk county and this time a very familiar suspect. mark has details.

>> the third time is not the charm for cecil miller. this is the third time arrested and charged with animal cruelty. he is not allowed to have animals. animal control found and removed 18 cats. to two were dead inside but 16 are alive and getting medical care. we're told some have leukemia. it's not clear how many may be adoptable. but they found deporable conditions inside of the home in lake alfred. there was trash and feces. this is -- these are some of the photos. the suspect is cecil miller arrested in 2007. a judge issued an injunction barring him from having animals. he was arrested in 2011 and a third time last week we're getting the details today. animal control said he is not getting the message so they need help from the community in case he does and again. >> this is how we got a tip in the first place.
