the hashtag "new york values" is trending on twitter -- thanks to a fiery debate between the top 2 gop candidates during last night's debate. donald trump and texas senator ted cruz were among the seven republicans who took the stage in south carolina. trump is still leading most national polls. but cruz has been polling well in iowa, which holds its caucus on february 1st. and that led to a number of clashes, including one over what cruz calls trump's "new york values." "everyone money and the media. not a lot of conservatives come "new york is a came down i saw something that no place on earth could have handled more beautifully, more humanely

the two men also sparred over the canadian-born cruz's eligibility to be president. trump said democrats are planning lawsuits to keep cruz from the white house. cruz said any lawsuit against him would not succeed. one more republican debate is set for january 28th in governor cuomo and mayor de blasio are out cruz for his comments on the city. calling into ny1, the governor says cruz's remarks could wind up hurting him in the polls because they were offensive to more than just new yorkers. "at the height of our activities which was the late 90's we may have had as many as 35 or more properties." the church handles its own real estate deals and recently sold these dumbo buildings for 375 million dollars. industry experts say the watchtower headquarters will be record setting. "i'd be shocked if it didn't trade over a billion dollars." two other properties also are on the market---this 10 story residence that the group bought 108 years ago. the building has underground tunnel connecting to its other properties. it's not clear what a new owner would do with the tunnel. and there's 85 jay street --- a fenced-off city block that's used for parking. the jehovah's witnesses got the lot rezoned in 2004 for housing, but the project

"that's woefully inadequate. that's the price of a condo in dumbo. 5 million dollars is a bedroom condo around here and we'd like to see them add at least a zero to that." the community says the jehovah's witnesses will get a stunning windfall and need to give back more - especially after enjoying tax exempt status all those years. the church says its invested here for decades even when the area n train riders in brooklyn are in for about 14 months of transit headaches starting next week. the manhattan- bound platforms of 9

"we had enough time now that we could select trees that were a good size, in good enough shape." according to shortliffe...it's all about renewal for a beloved item...he says neff's fascination with the trees is based on their discovery of how they are disposed here in town. "both of us didn't t grow up in the city. and obviously we had christmas trees growing up. but we weren't used to these piles of christmas trees in new york after the holidays and we wanted to give them a new life." and appropriately in a space that is also getting a new life as a cultural destination. "re- contextualizing and taking a bit of the everyday and making it a little different in this sensory way because you probably can't smell it on your tv but the smell is pretty amazing too." "when people think of carbohydrates, they immediately think 'oh pasta and breads and rice, muffins,' all those starchy things, lot of sugary things. but what people forget is that fruits and vegetables are incredibly rich sources of carbohydrates." shorenstein says stay away from fiber until after your workout because it can cause gi distress. she said fruits and vegetables give you essential vitamins and minerals, and she has a general rule

"antioxidents are really important because when you're exercising, especially if you're doing endurance activities such as marathons, you're increasing the amount of oxidated damage going on in your body. antioxidents are really important in fighting that oxidated stress." claire's clients swear by her advice, and say little changes bring big results. "making sure that on any given weeknight i just have some vegetables in the house because the easiest thing to do is, it seems like such a silly tip, but something i wouldn't have thought of, scrambled eggs, some fresh cut vegetables, really healthy, easy dinner." a few other tips: always have healthy snacks close by and unless you're training for hours, skip the sports drinks and stick with water. kristen shaughnessy ny1 rail and road report. that wraps up this half hour of news, but stay
