two, the rain and the severe weather in winter and here we go again. the initial message was when is the el nio going to start and then -- but the whole thing winds down in april, but we have a ways to go. talk about a cloudy cool, and damp day. this was the headline and we'll put this into motion. you would just stay in and you see lou low clouds and off and on rain. very low visibility and it's just a dark day. it's winter and you have that low sun angle and we have bands of rain coming in from the gulf and clouds moving from northeast to southwest. and the rainfall amounts are pretty impressive. i mean, fort mires is now up to 11.22 inches for january, the

is approaching 4 inches. st. pete is the fifth wettest january on record at 6.32 and tampa is up to 5.10 and i expect february and march to be equally if not have even more impressive rain. today a blue day, because of the clouds and rain, cooler than average at 68 degrees. there is still a big mass of weather in the gulf of mexico. all of that is going to head our way and you see what is happening offshore. more had impulse and more energy riding along a stuck front, and i don't think the rain will be as heavy as it was last night but still just a damp night. light rain up by lutz and by spring hill. additional bands of rain in orlando. and sebring with a light rain and there is the rain offshore.

and the thing is there is a front nearby but it really isn't moving all that much. winds above us are blowing parallel to the fropt and there front and there is no big punch of kick to get this front to slice northeast. that will happen late in the day tomorrow and until then we stay cloudy and weather with cool weather coming in on the backside. we talk about the fast subtropical jet during el nio? well, here it is. and the weather balloon launched in ruskin is showing winds speeds at 145 to 150 knots whipping in from the west and southwest. the energy along that jet is giving us the rounds of bands of rain. the mercury was not budged today, in the 60's and we had areas of seafog for a time this morning.

watch how slowly the front moves. it just creeps to the south and so even at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, there are clouds and rain around and then by later in the day, the cold front moves slowly to the south. even by 5:00, still lots of lingering showers and we finally clear up, 66 and a dewpoint of 65. so the rest of tonight? how about just dismal, dismal with occasional rain. we stay in the mid 60's. still damp tomorrow morning, and rain gradually ending and 68. a much better day on friday, pleasantly cool and in the mid 60's and your weekend is looking good, sunshine both days and i think late next week there will be a cold front moving through. could be very cold next weekend, not this weekend but next, maybe 20's and 30's for night time lows. >> thank you, paul.
