the ceo of the polk county school district. >> and three members say the superintendent has to go and they're ready to vote on it, when i was made aware of the client i said there would be no winners only losers. we have all lost, she was thrust into the spotlight after the associate superintendent filed nine misconduct claims against her claiming sexual harassment and creating as who file environment when he declined to take the relationship further. an investigation later cleared leroy of any misconduct, i'm ready to put this behind me and move forward. i'm dedicated to the students and staff the district and the expect takes of the board and the community. >> that will take convincing. >> it is a crying shame that we sit here today having to have this discussion, for now the board member believe as 30-day suspension is sufficient. and two members have not made it

hillsborough detention center. it broke last week. they had a tip that anthony cook what the at home on northeast boulevard north in st. pete. cook, along with anthony bays, escaped from the juvenile center a week ago. bays was found in st. pete yesterday. and this is a $25,000 piece of glass art being removed from a plain old brown box. it was stolen and returned in that box. steve nichols is live at the art center with a story that's has a happy ending. this is good news. >> reporter: yes, it is, it is a happy ending for the art center because in similar thefts the works of dale chihuly were destroyed once the person discovered how valuable they were. maybe not such a happy ending for the thief, the police are, woulding the case hard. >> on monday a cleaning man noticed a obvious gap in a row

the 2016 firestone grand prix is about a month away. the mayor joined organizers for the ceremonial installation on the course. along bay shore at first avenue. 19.8-mile street course brings the top drivers in the series to st. pete. they say this is the favorite track. the last year's winner juan pablo montoya said it was great to see the city without worrying about crashing. >> it is beautiful but when you race are you focused. are you trying to keep it off the wall. the thing with the street courses how close can you be without hitting them. >> the grand prix is march 11th through the 13th. that's two weeks earlier than usual. it brought in 140,000 fans. volunteers and workers with an estimated economic impact of $48 million. if you drive i-275 the

now the legislature, they cannot decide. the senate want as unanimous decision from the jury and the house proposal only calls for a 9-3 split for a jury. let's bring in jeff brown or legal expert. until the ruling a jury in florida would recommend a sentence to the judge who would make the decision. are we the only state with that kind of set up. >> there are three states in the country, florida was one of them. delaware and bam pam being the other three that did not require a unanimous verdict the fact that you can finds someone guilty and it must be unanimous many when you decide on whether or not to kill someone and give them death. you don't need a unanimous verdict. it was crazy. we were one of three states that did not require a verdict. >> now as we said. there are two different plans in

and one the other the split decision. how would each effect how they were picked. that's something they are thinking about. , we as criminal defense lowers we had to worry t is a verdict as well for death cases. i tried it here. verdict. the idea in florida that you didn't need a verdict was always a little bizarre. we're talking about the most severe penalty they can give which is death. the other thing that was crazy about the system it was the jury that give it. they make a recommendation and the judge was free to go ahead without it or not. there was a case when i was a prosecutor where the jury recommended a life sentence 12 to 0 and the judge decided to give it. it is about time this was addressed in florida. it is amazing to mes legislature cannot agree to florida needs to

like every other state and they want to bring the litigation by coming up with a recommendation. >> what if they cannot agree. would they consider getting, doing away with the death penalty and that will cost a lot you know sentence people to life in prison s that what you think may end up happening. >> right now we don't have the death penalty. they have to do something f they cannot agree whether we need the verdict, we'll be in the land of limbo. that's a problem what is crazy. it costs florida 51 million for err a year for someone to be on death row f we turned it, life sentenc, life without parole. we're stopping that penalty phase of executing someone and the litigation.
