what is alarming, bird rescuers say is this is the sixth bird shot in this neighborhood. >> you are right, and after speaking with tampa bay raptor rescue, they say someone is targeting these large endangered birds and possibly using them as target practice. that turkey vulture was so injured it could no longer fly and was obviously in pain. it had to be put down. this is the sixth bird sound shot within a one-mile radius. last july, two ospreys were spotted with wounds to their wings and chests and one blue herron was shot. rescuers say each time the attacks seem to be getting worse.
