killing a tow truck driver and fleeing the scene has come to an end. allison huffman was arrested at a friend's house in st. pete about two hours ago. troopers say she ran over the tow truck driver as he was trying to help a couple on the bridge. evan, how did the troopers catch up to huffman? >> reporter: well, chris, it was a tip call that came in shortly after 9:00, that huffman was at a friend's house in st. petersburg. take a look. this is the scene here. we just got this video in just a few moments ago. this is where they found her, the promenade apartments. st. pete took the tip in and sent fhp to pick her up. there is still a presence of stpd and state troopers. she has had three dui charges in the past. we don't know what charges he is going to face for this incident. we interviewed the couple who the tow truck driver was trying

side of the road and say that he helping. this is the car that huffman was driving when she hit the driver at around 2:00 this morning. the couple were broken down when perez saw them, stopped and offered a ride. when he was outside the truck, securing the hook to the front of the suv, that's when the troopers say the impact happened. the couple were in the cab of the tow truck when they heard the impact and they saw the dark car speed off. >> i heard something loud -- pow! it was terrible. >> the most compassionate caring people that i have had the privilege of coming in contact with. >> reporter: troop uponners say she was a licensed driver. it is unclear what charges if any she will face. we don't know where she was

headed and we don't know why she came to the heard rock here in tampa, which is where i am standing right now. we assume all of those details are going to come out over the next several days. we are in tampa. >> details that will come out in court. and we will follow it. you know, florida had a record number of hit-and-run accidents last year, which is why the highway patrol spent the day trying to raise awareness. there were 92,000 hit-and-run crashes in 2015 of those, 19,000 resulted in injuries and 186 took someone's life. if you leave the scene of an accident, you will be charged with a felony. an accident involving a death could mean up to 30 years in prison. >> mother nature never sleeps. we will get a reminder of that tonight. a line of storms in the gulf, headed for the bay area. some could be severe. let's check in on paul. >> it's going to be a busy night. we are tracking two lines of storms.

a crazy stunt in pinellas park, getting a lot of attention online, like the driver went wanted. but he's also going the attention of the police. it was shot yesterday at 3:30 in the afternoon. yeah. that's a driver doing donuts in the middle of the busy road there. police want to know who that person is because, obviously, they say that stort of -- sort of stunt could really get someone killed. >> we are talking about a 2,000-pound motor vehicle, whipping around without any control, without any care or regard for anyone itch the driver will be charged -- wow, look at that. the driver will be charged with rickless driving. there dozens of clips like that on youtube, which has police concerned about copycat performances. >> three pasco county businesses burglarized, all in the same morning. deputies think it was the same person. it all happened yesterday in the

deputies say they first hit divers city supply and then sally beauty supply, a little while later, mainstream boutique. here's the surveillance photo, of the suspect. they think he was in a cruiser-type motorcycle. they are asking anyone with information to call the pasco sheriffs office. sulfer springs, tampa police say a 42-year-old homeless woman had to be airlifted to the hospital after getting stabbed. another homeless woman was arrested. her name is ashley weathers. they were arguing when police say weathers pulled a pocket knife and stabbed the victim several times. the victim is in stable condition. >> craft breweries continue to set up shop in the tampa area. they are have become so popular, the mayor proclaimed today craft beer day. it's a bottoming industry in the state and here at home.

we will be watching that. nevertheless, the rain bands are moving southwest to north tv10 and one cell down here that's been showing signs of rotation, looked at the winds inside the storm a half hour ago, it was rotating pretty good t. could be a water spout. it's moving northeast. it should weaken with time, progressively colder. we will be watching this group of thunderstorms here, which are moving northeast, towards the tampa bay area. we will watch that. then, behind all of this is the squall line with the cold front that. has to come through as well. but this line may be weakening as it loses its energy from the first line that moves away and stabilizes the atmosphere. so you get the idea. it's a complicated setup. it really is. when everything is said and done. we will ultimately have areas of heavy rain, gusty winds and that will probably be about it. we will be watching with the
