10:01 pm
up to its name for donald trump with the republicans voting in 11 states and trump's big challenge is texas, ted cruz's home state and a lot of delegates are at state: political and clinton looking to sweep the south. fox 13 political editor craig patrick to run through some of the highlights, what do you think. >> clearly, the big winner is donald trump. he is going to be very hard to stop after these returns tonight. meanwhile, ted cruz is having a decent night, at least out performing expectations and rubio is counting down the days two weeks tonight to mark the 16th in his home state in florida.
10:02 pm
massachusetts, georgia, tennessee and virginia calling for donald trump. a very good night. and the state that fox news called for ted cruz, oklahoma, a little bit of a surprise, border state to his hometown texas and ted cruz walks away with two states and with that, a good chunk of the delegates. now, at this point, if you take a look at what is happening in texas, at one point, the polls were very tight, but we saw cruz pulling away in our polling over the weekend, and so he pulls away with a double digits win over donald trump. marco rubio far behind in third police. that brings us to another very interesting race. take a look at virginia. here's where marco rubio made a hard play to rye to win this state and yes, it was close, but donald trump wins and runs the table in most of the state and rubio wins the washington d.c. suburbs with a decent chunk of delegates but still
10:03 pm
his name. here is how marco rubio is framing his performance tonight followed by big winner donald trump. >> five days ago, we began to explain to the american people that donald trump is a conartist, and two weeks from tonight, right here in florida, we are going to send a message loud and clear, we are going to send a message that the party of lincoln and reagan, and the presidency of the united states will never be held by a conartist. >> it was a very tough night for marco rubio. he had a tough night, but he worked hard and spent a lot of money. he is a light weight, as i've said many times before, but you know what, we'll go to florida and spend so much time in florida with a 20-point lead. >> well, there you've it, looking at the leader board in the republican race, if you're counting the delegates at this
10:04 pm
that trump built, 221 and that will continue to go up for him and cruz overtaken rubio that sits at 41 delegates and based on the way things are going, trump with 150 delegates and it could be around 200 plus delegates by the end of the night, and keep in mind, 1,237 are needed. you see john kasich in fourth place with 19 delegates like florida votes on march 15th. >> how is the battle between hillary clinton and bernie sanders. >> hillary clinton is running up the score in most of the states, so we start with the states that hillary clinton has won, that's arkansas, alabama, georgia, tennessee, texas and virginia.
10:05 pm
of a surprise, of course, won the home state of vermont and ekes out a win in oklahoma and if you see what happened in oklahoma, an outlier than the south and the west, with 52% of the vote to clinton with 40% and sanders says he makes the case he has a strong message and is in this for the long run and here is his speech tonight followed by hillary clinton, who is already looking forward to next election. >> pill snares do not buy town meetings, and in america, we will stop a corrupt campaign system. >> now, it might be unusual as i said before, for a presidential candidate to say, this but i'm going to keep saying it, i believe what we need in america today is more love and kindness.
10:06 pm
on the other side has never been lower. trying to divide america between us and them is wrong, and we're not going to let it work. >> there you see, hillary clinton is not talking about her democratic rival bernie sanders, she's looking ahead to donald trump. take a look at the dramatic delegate leader board, to give you an indication of why. look at that. this includes superdelegates that don't have to go by the results of their states, but here, clinton is running up the score with still a ways to go with 2,283 to clinch the democratic nomination. >> our political editor, craig, thank you. >> a pasco sheriff is charged with planting evidence on a suspect and steven lablanc is

10:08 pm
>> he did that following a spree of vandalism and anti-police grafitti sprayed by the suspect during a legitimate arrest, and leblanc ordered a witness, james lee hold tore plant drug nearly in the suspect's bag to jam him with more charges. >> we get irritated but you don't break the law. >> this could have a wide reaching impact says criminal defense attorney anthony richtman. >> he's still listed as a state witness and is harder to prosecute the case, because the state is going to have a very witness now. >> leblanc is under criminal investigation himself and could face charges like obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence. neighbors say despite, that they still welcome deputies on their block. >> they need to stay on the crazy. >> reporter: does this cause sheriff's office?
10:09 pm
>> reporter: and the sheriff says leblanc must have gotten spooked because he threw the bag back and did not go forward with the additional charges, but the sheriff said at that point, he already crossed the line and we know some of this was apparently caught on his body camera that is until he turned it off, the sheriff violation. certainly, kelly, a lot more on this story. we're just scratching the more in the future. >> i'm sure. thank you, josh casio. >> jim shines is accused of stealing a three dollar, energy drink last week. he says it was a mistake and he turned in his resignation yesterday. he is scheduled to appear in court march 22nd and he does not have any prior criminal history. >> a star, a sex tape and a scandal, all part of hulk

love that a lot. here's some climatology. today is the first day of march. here's some numbers on the month and the long range outcome from the climate prediction center for us, at least going through the first couple of weeks of march is for warmer temperatures and above normal precipitation. we'll see how that plays out. but the average high for the month is 76. the average low is 58, those numbers are pretty good. the warmest day, 92, set back in 1907, the coldest day was 47 degrees in 1920. the coldest temperature in the morning was 29 degrees in 1980. it's not impossible to get a frost or freeze in march, but the chances are pretty minimal, certainly with a freeze, can be some patchy frost early in the month, that's about it. rainfall running three inches, the cold fronts still a factor in march.

like spring with 70s and 80s along the gulf coast, with 50s and 60s across the heartland, cold air across the plain states and chicago hitting 30 with snow and minneapolis up to 27 and for us, we will be watching the arrival of a very weak cold front tomorrow and then maybe a few sprinkles or light showers, i don't think it will be a real big deal. the front goes by and back to sunshine. thursday looks good with another front going by on friday, and after that, we're setting up nicely for a really good weekend, the third nice weekend in a row. here's the outcome for tomorrow, 66 at 9:00 a.m., 72 and a small chance of a shower with the 4:00 temperatures in the mid-70s.. >> a fantastic february for u.s. auto sales with a 15 year high with ford leading the way, sales jumping 12% and chrysler
