>> reporter: you're listening to a voice mail a bay area woman recently rereceived. the caller identifies himself as an agent with the federal investigation department. he claims to be calling about a case of tax evasion and leaves a call back number. when the woman called back, she was prompted to wire money immediately or face legal action from the irs. the victim hung up. sure, this was a scam. but then something strange happened. >> within five minutes or so she gets another call. this time it's from -- on her caller id, the tampa police department main line. >> the victim was one of attorney michael's clients. she wasn't fooled by the caller from the so-called federal investigation department but the caller id showing tampa police made her second guess herself. >> they 54 i was instructed to arrest you on this issue because

and indicated that essentially, that she could avoid arrest by cooperating, sending. >> not knowing if officers really were on the way over she called her attorney and she immediately called tampa police. >> i got about 2 sentences anymore story, and the main line operating told me, no, that's definitely a scam. >> reporter: police say they heard about similar impersonation scams before. caller ids can be rigged to register just about anyone, including law enforcement. tbd said they would never call a suspect to threaten arrest, or ask someone to wire money. as for the federal investigation department number left in the voice mail, we tried calling. but the number had already been disconnected. in tampa. reporting. >> anchor: of course it's disconnected. we talked to the irs about this.

look like he was born to fly. a newcomer, and in the first season he just vaulted past the school's record. 17 feet, 3.5-inches. >> i didn't know it was a school record. i was shocked. >> reporter: he is new to usf and really a newby to the sport. it wasn't until his junior year in high school he first picked up a pole. within five weeks shot past 13 feet, crowned a florida state champ a year later. .com has coached at usf for 20 years, hasn't seen an athlete reach these he's this fast. >> he's adapted really well to the college type of evaluating. sometimes it takes high school years a year to adapt. >> he's learning the nuances of a sport that whats with its own pit fall. >> you can't be scared. i've fallen so many times. i have stitched right now from messing up. >> reporter: i know the bar looks high.
