over the gulf that just died out. look at this shot coming over the bridge from jack miller. big thunderstorm popped up over clearwater and safety harbor. that was the start of an active afternoon. and then this, another one of those shelf clouds rolling up tampa bay from st. pete, from brian supple. and then double rainbow action, and i tell you pretty good hummer, too. that's a nice shot from justin lawson over in apollo beach. right now, the rain, we watched this all huge band of rain that was approaching our west coast. but, you know, during the afternoons, you're not going to get rain to come inland and also storms to pop up with daytime heating. it's going to be one or the other. and in this case it was from daytime heating. and there was still a couple areas of rain, not much. spotty light rain around tampa bay. once again cooling temperatures late in the day. and then pretty decent, light to moderate rain in hernando up to
10:19 pm
will be gone. elsewhere rain all the way down to charlotte and lee counties, that could kind of sneak into sarasota county. we'll watch that. and then inland, a sprinkle here and there and that's really about it. tomorrow, with the upper level low moving away and tropical moisture in place, i do expect another round of afternoon storms. so here we go. got low pressure drifting away. that was the culprit for all the rain over the weekend. 70s to near 80 now. nothing unusual and then the low moves away and the winds turn to the southeast. we just kind of watch and wait for the afternoon sea breeze. and our model data tomorrow, look at the line of rain. this is by 9:00 tomorrow evening with storms dying out along the west coast. that makes sense. and then even on friday it should be about the same thing, with afternoon sea breezes. some of the rain will be heavy and we'll continue with that general forecast idea or forecast thinking all the way

50 percent chance of rain inland and higher amounts eventually towards the coast later on in the day. rainfall accumulations are showing the big upper level low scoot ag way. it's been a huge deluge up you in the panhandle the past couple of days and that rain will continue to shift to the west and northwest with the low. we are watching the tropics. and there really isn't much going on. this is another surge of dry air coming in off of africa, so we height of the tropical season. but i just don't see much. showers here, some here. but nothing's going to be developing any time soon. every day that goes by without a storm is good! 80, dew point 75, southwest wind at 7. any leftover rain ends and then partly cloudy tonight. 78. watch and wait for late day storms tomorrow. we're back up near 90. and the outlook for friday, more afternoon storms, near 90.
