the sheriff says steele didn't realize her baby was dead and just kept running errands. we're told she noticed the child's condition when she got home hours later. today was the first time we heard from her attorneys going to have to defend the 62-year-old single mother of three on these charges. >> it is a terrible tragedy for everybody involved. i'm sure there are a lot of factors that we need to find out to look into and figure out what took place and how everybody can move on a little bit. >> reporter: steele was featured in a tlc tv show about having children late in life. she had her first child in 2009. after her husband died, a doctor used his frozen sperm to help her get pregnant two more times. investigators have been lookin into steele after the baby was taken to a hospital with the injury. one of steele's neighbors told us that he thinks that things started to fall apart for that

we're following a news alert out of pasco county. a depression is has opened up in a neighborhood in hudson right under the driveway of a duplex. look at that. sky fox over it live right now. this is on mediterranean court in hudson and the depression is between 25 and 30 feet wide. officials tell us that both of the residents of the property are out of town. we have crews on the way on the ground to the scene and will bring you updates as we get them. new at five, the revolving door of the sarasota county jail. a lot of peopl because of drugs and heroin is becoming a huge problem with several deaths and overdoses in past few months. as fox 13's kimberly kuizon reports, the jail has a new treatment program with the goal of saving lives. >> reporter: as a nurse at the sarasota county jail, megan sees the true impact of drug addiction. >> i watch them deteriorate over multiple arrests. >> reporter: she sees the same faces over and over again. she helps them detox from their addiction and knows it probably won't be the last time.

few weeks later they're back again and right back to square one where we have to go through the process again. >> reporter: right now heroin is the biggest problem.e's hope addiction treatment program will then solution. it starts with counseling and a monthly shot of a drug called vivitrol. >> it will take away the cravings and the urge to want to utilize. and once they do, if they do use again, they won't feel the euphoric feeling. >> reporter: to participate inmates must agree they want the deputies are hopeful once treated immates are released it well help them return to a healthy lifestyle and they're hopeful they won't see them come through these doors again. >> the largest consequence and what we're really trying to avoid is the resulting death that occurs because of their addiction. >> reporter: the treatment costs up to a thousand dollars for one dose. paid for by a state grant. if it works, the savings could be priceless. >> i think this is a game changer. if and when people decide they

severe weather. there's a solid line of big storms from arcadia all the way up to about wauchula. and they're putting out lots of heavy rain and frequent lightning. also of note, storms developing right around tampa bay right now. again, our radar picking up big vertical development inside some of these cells. here is the more conventional view. this is what we're looking at here. the big vertical development going as high as 30 feet in the sky. that will put out lots of rain and lightning. now we're tracking storms, again, sarasota. the storms weakening. punta gorda. now arcadia and wauchula all getting moderate to heavy rain. the storms are moving in the fashion you would expect during the afternoon in mid-august from southeast to northwest. heaviest bowling green, wauchula and down 17. also the storm near sarasota and

out. it was impressive about a half-hour ago. watch as it kind of collapses. in the past ten minutes or so there have been storms popping up around tampa bay. this is a big cell right over the kourtney campbell to [ inaudible ]. anyone driving over the bridges now can look depending which way are going can look out the window and see a big thunderstorm over tampa bay now and then you've got another storm up by citrus park. that's putting out some big-time watching by odessa, that thunderstorm is heading your way. lakeland we had heavy rain here. then it occurs up to about the green swamp and polk city. that is moving north to northwest. again, that will be around for at least another half-hour to 45 minutes. citrus county a couple of random storms. we're not done yet. it's only 519. we've got areas of sunshine around. radar will be busy.

((cynthia-vo)) a woman is accus a woman's accused of taking $30,000 from an old friend. deputies say she pretended to be a judge to get the money. fox's kelly joyce in deltona with the >> reporter: angelique crib cried in court as she heard the fraud charges she faces. >> what? how did that happen? >> reporter: a warrant was issued for her arrest. signed by the same judge she is accused of impersonating in dozens of text messages to a friend. deputies say she borrowed more than $300,000 from a deltona neighbor. when the neighbor said enough is enough, deputies say crib started threatening the 65-year-old woman. >> the victim told her she wasn't going to lend her anymore

gone on break. let's bring in our political editor craig patrick to grade the governor's response. >> you can't give a complete grade because this is a crisis that is a long way from finished. but based on what we're seeing so far we can give a progress report and say governor scott and under his leadership we're seeing progress in the state of florida. certainly the governor is giving this the time and attention that it deserves. he has been out front on this crisis and the issue long before the local transmissions. he's hosted a dozen with local health departments all across the state. and with the response led by the state in partnership with local government you now have apparently the outbreak being contained in south florida. all of that is the good news. on top of that governor scott said that he is committed to finding the money and spending whatever it takes to battle zika. take a look.

we'll fly down to the south. a cool animation. storms have ended in sarasota. but notice the realtime lightning data. as we move inland. and we're talking about arcadia and wauchula up to lakeland all getting frequent lightning, heavy rain and some gusty winds. it's a smattering of storms. because today the rain has arrive add little bit earlier than it did last night in most cases the rain should end earlier this evening. when i left went to work last night at 11:45, there was still a big batch of rain around hillsborough and manatee. which really made looking at watching the perseid shower kind of tough. you had to wake up early to see that around 5:00. we do have rain around as i mentioned. one cell moving over the bay towards safety harbor. we'll show you that in a sec. wauchula to myakka city down to arcadia, moderate to heavy rain, frequent lightning.

it's going to last awhile longer. it's heading up to bowling green. it's down u.s. 17 moving into arcadia. that one cell that was over the bay looks like it's weakening a li little wit bit. it's over safety harbor. that cell is moving west northwest and weakening and the storms up by land o' lakes are weakening too. if you are watching us in dade city, thunderstorms are around you and there's one over the green swamp that kind of scooting northeast or w if you are watching us in ridge manor that rain is heading your way. elsewhere a little shower along the citrus marion county line. that is scooting north. that's really about it. a couple of more storms in highlands county. we'll stay with a classic weather pattern this weekend. you know what that means. sunshine early. storms late. as we talked on the news set, the situation in louisiana is awful. this is the same low that
