10:16 pm
fairly quiet. 12 years ago today, hurricane charlie made landfall. this was obviously a big learning event for us because we all were tracking this system. it was expected to come to the tampa bay area and then made that little turn and that little turn meant so so much. and so obviously causing huge amount of damage and really that 2004 season where the storms were just cri the state was really a bad, bad year for the state of florida. if you weren't living here then find a neighbor, find a friend who was living here during this and they can tell you all about how that season turned out. so flooding, you saw all the rain, all the footage of all the rain across louisiana, very, very slowly working its way onto the west, maybe about 24 to 36 hours of more rain and so that
10:17 pm
across portions of louisiana, for us though, we are back to our typical summertime pattern. we had a little bit of a drier spell today. but still, the overall trend will be more rain. now skytower radar, million-watt radar, things fanning out, we have raven exiting to our north but down to our south, that's when the rain started first this afternoon. there wasn't a whole lot of rain, about rain near sarasota. once the cells moved north, mcdill air force, and safety harbor, 8/10 of an inch. odessa, 6/10 up towards new port
10:18 pm
skytower radar, what we have now is a couple of leftover storms up citrus county, up oto the north of homosassa, citrus springs, moving out into the gulf of mexico. so probably another half an hour and the rain should be done across the land areas. we had more of that east and southeasterly wind, more typical across the area, the difference is a an upper level spinning here, that's what dropped our rain chances down. now as this low continues to work its way to the west, you can see on the back side, more moisture, our rain chances will be heading up for tomorrow. still have the morning sun around but as we get into the afternoon and the heating in we'll see those scattered showers and thundershowers developing, across the earn part of event part of the state.
10:19 pm
point's at 70. humidity at 65%. currently calm winds across the state. because we haven't had as much rain it's been on the warm side this evening. here in tampa that 83, brandon 79, west liz chapel 80?, sarasota rain earlier 78?. clearwater currently sits at 80 and new port richey a steamy 81?. that area low pressure, the winds kind of pumpings up more mexico over the state of louisiana got this front, this stick in this area, about another day and eventually this would ride along that front and work its way on to the north. now you can see the rainfall totals in this area in some cases, got some isolated areas over 25 inches of rain! and it's still raining there. obviously you can see why they're having such flooding there. overnight in the scattered clouds, 77?, then tomorrow
10:20 pm
and thunderstorms, and then as we get into monday, more of those scattered showers and thunderstorms, 91?, light chop on the bay, high tide comes up at -- gulf temperatures, high tide 1:33 in the morning. seven-day forecast, these daytime highs straying in the low 90s, and that rain tomorrow. >> jim thanks. renovated, for a whole new generation.
