day of school jitters. we check in with students returning to the zika-infested nabdzs. neighborhoods. we begin with a news alert in tampa where a crash on a busy highway tonight hilled a bicyclist. it happened tonight, and a lot of activity still there. the florida highway patrol says a 21-year-old man on that bicycle was hit and killed. you two vehicles were involved in this. at least one person that we talked to there familiar with the area says she's really not surprised that something like this happened. >> this section is extremely dangerous, obviously. people drive up and down 50 to 60 miles per hour if not faster. >> we don't know what led up to the crash. obviously, an investigation is still taking place right now. we don't know who is at fault. troopers haven't released the

but it was a 21-year-old man. the northbound lanes of dell mabrey are still closed at landbright street. avoid that area if possible. new at 11:00, they're a life saving for people with allergies, but some people can't afford the epipens anymore. the price skyrocketed from $100 to $600. so many parents on social media talked about this all weekend. crystal clark sfoek spoke to one mom trying to bear the extra cost, crystal. >> causes the huge increase? >> the epipen brand dominates the market with little competition, so they can increase their prices by nearly 400%. now, for parents who have to stock up their homes, their cars, their kids' schools, they say this is just enough to ety their pockets. it only takes one sting or a bite of peanut butter at lunch

itchy. >> your face swells up. >> reporter: an allergic reaction so severe an epipen shot must be used to stop the symptoms. just two weeks into the school year, daisy says her 12-year-old daughter's peanut allergy was trickered after tushing a table in her art class where someone ate peanut butter. >> she felt itchy and hot. she went to the bathroom. >> she couldn't breathe and went straight to the school nurse, who gave her an epip >> having to use the emergency device created a new problem. she must buy a pricey replacement. the epipen went from $60 in 2007 to $600 in 2016. it's not older people feeling the impact. >> it's mainly parents with kids, because they need more than two. they need two for the grandparents, two for school and two for something else. so that means six.

police in auburndale say a man was killed over the weekend after meeting someone on the site plentyoffish. josh cascio has a warning from police now, and it's so many people that use these sites, josh, i guess they need a warning. >> reporter: this shouldn't be a huge shock to anyone. you're still meeting a stranger for the first time, and let's face it, not everybody on the internet is who they say they are. we should know that by now, right? unfortunately, that's what 27-year-old adam hillary found out. police say he went on a only to wind up dead and robbed. now, four people are under arrest in that case, but it's not the first time we've seen dating sites and apps lead to bad things. so here are a few tips. number one, always do your research on who you meet. google them and check your facebook page and stalk them online for lack of a better term. two, meet in a public place. somewhere a lot of people are around. never in a private location. three, and this should go

cadillac dealer in clearwater. when he was arrested, investigate rors say he had numerous counterfeit driver's licenses, va i.d.s and credit cards on him. he also has to pay back the money he used on the suv. developing tonight, deputies in pasco and hillsborough counties say professional thieves got away with thois of dollars of belongings after breaking into nearly 20 pickup trucks. just yesterday eight trucks inn and hampton inn in wesley chapel. two weeks ago in tampa somebody broke into 12 vehicles where three guns were stolen. a total of $8800 worth of items taken possibly by the same people. >> i assume they're going to the black market, and they are being sold off that way. maybe to pay for a drug habit. maybe to pay for other things. we don't know. >> detectives are looking for

at the six schools near the wynwood zone. >> we have to get the information out to the neighborhood and community. >> reporter: at this middle school, classroom lessons on monday morning focused on zika. miami-dade school superintendent is taking part and giving zika tips. >> dress them well, long-sleeved shirts and long pants and apply the insect repellent, and then leave the rest up to us. >> preparation is key, but doesn't want anyone to panic. >> this does not constitute a threat to young kids. it constitutes a threat to pregnant women. >> in miami beach three schools are in or near the hot zone. school leaders and the may ror trying to calm the fears. >> giving away bug re pell lant and uniforms with long sleeves and things like that. we're on it doing everything we can for preventive measures.

>> i hope that we can cross our fingers and hope for the best. >> that was brian reporting. the state health department reports seven new cases of zika in florida, four in the miami-dade area, but all of them travel-related. with more and more cases popping up, tampa is stepping up the efforts to combat the mosquito population. mayor buckhorn announcing today the city bought 3600 of those things called mosquito dunks. they're pools, retention ponds and other areas where there's standing water. each dunk can kill off mosquito larvae for 30 days. they don't harm people or animals. so if you have any concerns about standing water or an abandoned property near your home, report that to city code enforcement. i hadn't heard about that before, these dunks. they do a good job. >> little doughnuts for mosquitos, right? >> yeah, for 30 days. coming up, tampa is fires

now, tomorrow i think more of a northeast wind, a better chance of storms near the coast tomorrow afternoon. then more of that will continue on wednesday, with storms building to the west during the afternoon hours. we start to watch what's happening to our southeast over the weekend. the atlantic is getting crowded. you've got gaston, and that's a new tropical storm. the 11:00 advisory is just issued. that will become the hurricane and move atlantic. fiona has about had it. invest 99-l has a 40% chance of development in the next two days. 60% chance in the next five days. the limiting factor in the short term is going to be a lot of dry air ahead of it. it's awfully tough for a wave to develop much, as long as there's this much dry air in place. but over time the atmosphere

some of the warmest water on the planet is down over the bahamas in whatever becomes of this will probably track in this general direction. so there's certainly a potential in about four to five days, this being tropical storm hermes. we see what happens down the road. it could get close to our state sunday or monday of next week, like seven to eight days from now. invest 99-l, here's some computer models run on it. you can see general direction of our state but as always, you know, this far out, i mean the accuracy rate on these models seven days out is not good. it can curve up the east coast and may not develop at all and could cut across the state. the european model this afternoon had quite the run. it is a developing storm east of miami, and nen moving west across the peninsula. this is eight days out, so the chances of this verifying
